I found Yavin IV and Endor to give the best XP. On Endor and Yavin I was able to solo at FT 2+ with (usually) no buff a full suit of Composite and some stims (kill everything you see on Yavin, almost everything is easy there) and the latern birds are good on Endor because they're easy and they rack in about 1300 XP each kill, and their's dozens of them in each lair.

what's your secondary class to compliment commando? Some people go TKA or CH or something else to compliment it. If its another combat class that you haven't finished grind the weapons xp required for it and you'll do both at once.

Hey all,
Trying commando out, and was looking for tips to level.
I know if I get a group going on an "adventure planet" I can get pretty decent weapons xp, since it's based off damage done.
I've heard, but can't seem to find info on using grenades to maximize combat xp.
Any tips from master commandos?
Thanks in advance.

Kill Kill Kill. The higher level the stuff you kill the better.

I used Dathomir and Yavin4 for my leveling....A couple of us (a fencer holochaser and TKA novice) worked our way up to our respective "Master" titles in just a few days. We all averaged 3-4K xp per kill....We mostly hunted kilkniks, crystal snakes, and some others...

Savage Quenker missions on Dant are good too, ridiculously easy and they don't DB. Don't forget to group with a droid or pet for extra xp.

Doc Buffs + Good Composite Armor = Piket Missions on Dantooine. This assumes you have Flame Thrower 1 though, as they are a bit tough without the DOT.
If you just have Novice, I hunted on Lok with a very fast launcher pistol. Doctor buffs and some armor are a need though, unless you're in a group.
Go up all of Flamethrower until you get FlameSingle2, and then you're a very dangerous force. At this time, I usually went to Dath and started hunting Rancors by myself (or with a Doc/CM), or in small groups.
Then again, I always had 66-68% Composite Armor, Master Doc Buffs, and enough Muon Gold to give me shakes for years.
If you're faction-oriented, you can also do well to start hunting Storm Troopers or Rebel What-nots, and just keep circling the missions for those. Ranged Mitigation actually helps a lot, so work up the Tactics Line.

Try the Blue Leaf Temple on Yavin 4, The Creature's there give about 2 to 3k in xp. And you can get thexp with out getting hurt, if you play it smart ![]()

Wow.
I can't beleive this thread is still going several days after I thanked everyone for the help they gave. :-)
The tips have been incredible and I've gained a wealth of knowledge on how to get the massive amounts of XP I need to level up in flame and heavy weapons support.
Thank you all again. I'm sure others have found this thread useful as well.

That's what I used. That and Sharnaffs with a ranger friend. Might have taken me a little longer that way, but I enjoyed doing it and that's all that counts.

At commando 0/0/1/0 I got tired of using the launcher pistol (I only have novice pistoleer), and looked to use the flame thrower. I amrather familiar with Rori so here is what I am doing to go up FT tree. Swamp Cat or Plains Cat missions are good 1.3 to 1.6 k xp each and a lair usually has about 6 to 8 coming in groups of 2. I like to use /aim and then regular FT attack to pull one from 60 meters. Also while I am out there, Shallow Tortons and Gualamas are similar. One word of caution though, the cats DB. Basically my tactics are to /kneel, pull them in with normal /aim and attacks and then at 25m que up my macro of /aim /flamespecial1. After the special goes off I start running (not burst run, just running) and shooting on the go.
Another nice thing was the pigmy torton cave POI on Rori. I fought one at a time and got about 35k experience for the entire cave in about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Once I get flame cone 1 then it will be off to bigger and better things like Dant, Endor or Yavin.
Best of luck, G
