{salutes}

Greetings commandos. Please be seated. I’ve called this briefing to bring you up to date….

I’ve been very busy in the Correspondent Forum (CF). While I’ve been trying to post here more often, just so you know I’m alive, the real battle for our issues takes place in the CF. That’s where the DEVs want the Correspondents to post profession issues and where they want to respond to them.

I fought long and hard to get a more direct method of communication with the DEVs, either teleconferences or at least one-on-one chat sessions, but it just isn’t going to happen. One DEV even went so far as to say that I was being “unrealistic”. So, I’m doing the best I can to relay our issues given the communications constraints.

I have started a thread in the CF with a list of our current issues. Some issues are more important than others, however, and I have made these our top five:

  • Remove the melee damage multiplier against commandos

  • Fix the HAR

  • Make Master Commando worthwhile

  • Fix the Launcher Pistol & make it a commando tree weapon

  • Fix grenades

After reading the many responses to the “Number One Issue” and other threads here, those stood out as being the most important.

Lord_Pall, the designer in charge of combat, is back to work and he did respond to my Commando Issues thread in the CF. He said that he will look into these issues but also pointed out that they’re not the highest priority at the moment.. Pall oversees 11 combat professions and believes melee combat to be the most troublesome at the moment. Since our damage output has been fixed, we are not the number one priority.

One Tuesday, there was a “meet and greet” on Test center between the designers and the correspondents. This was supposed to be a social gathering. Pall attended and me being the persistent, impatient ass that I am, I hammered him with several of our issues. Typing like a madman, I half expected to get booted for being annoying. I don’t have a chat log in front of me but here are some of the things I got from Pall.

  1. The melee damage multiplier applied to us is not going to be removed. Pall said he’d consider lowering it but not removing it. I gave many good arguments for why it should not apply to us but to no avail. Basically, he said that the other combat classes already feel that we’re overpowered.

  2. Pall will look into making the HAR AP but can’t combine it in the same tree with the flamethrower, as some of you have asked for. It causes too many game problems due to players having different skill levels in the two trees, etc.

  3. He said that he is open to improving some of the Master levels, including commando. He’ll consider adding better accuracy bonuses at Master. Some of you have suggested lowering armor HAM costs for Master commando. “No”. That isn’t going to happen.

  4. He’ll also consider moving the Launcher Pistol into an existing skill tree and giving it specials.

This is a brief summary and I’m sure we discussed a few other issues but I don’t have a perfect memory. If I come across anything important in the chat log, I’ll post it here.

To sum up, Pall is aware of our issues and will be looking into them when he gets a chance. Melee combat is the top issue at the moment, so we’re not top priority. I suggest that you remain patient and count on me to keep bringing up our issues every time I get the slightest chance. When I do, and get any more information, I’ll pass it on to you.

Synn:

Just wondering as it's not my top issue, but as a frequent grenade user: Did they mention anything about fixing grenades? (Accuracies, that is--I'm not a big supporter of giving them stun, dizzy and knockdown effects--if folks think that we're overpowered now, that would send them over the edge).

Thanks for the feedback Master,

One thing that I personally thing could rock in regards to the melee modifier is reducing it as you go up in skill level with a weapon. Such as a .25 reduction per weapon level you've attained, either that or something where when you reach master it's at 0 or very small like 1.25 because you've mastered all of your weapons and are now comfortable using them.

From a theme standpoint I'd love to see lord_pall justify the melee multiplier in the light of us having Unarmed IV.

Fine, I say if they aren't going to remove the melee modifier then remove unarmed as a pre-req as many commandos have already stated.

Well this report makes me feel better in my decision to abandon commando. Considering all our specials are within close range, a melee damage modifier is utterly retarded. And from long range, our weapons are inaccurate, and don't do enough damage to be worthwhile. I can use stopping shot on my pistol and do just as much if not more damage from long range than with my flamethrower. What was the whole point of doing the unarmed brawler tree? Commando's should be tough at any range. Bounty Hunters aren't being nerfed, yet they own in pvp and pve. Why? Because half the people in the game are bounty hunters and we don't here the complaints. Once commandos got fixed, bounty hunters finally had someone who could fight toe-to-toe with them, and they got angry and came here complaining. Well if that's the way they're going to do business, then i'll just leave commando and go with bounty hunter. I can't believe that i've spent almost 3 monthes as a commando, enjoying my role, and having to leave it because some people think its unfair that HEAVY WEAPONS can kill them in 2 shots. Unreal.

Thanks as always MasterSynn. and you keep being annoying as hell to those devs.

I hate devs in general now. I don't play this game because of the game, I play this game to interact with my friends.

Yea, half the people in the game are Bounty Hunters, and the other half are commando's and the rest are both.

I know that makes no sense.

I just Mastered Commando last weekend. I think I will be dropping it this weekend. All I need is FT IV. I'll spend the rest of my Skill Points on things that actually give me something.

I don't regret the hard work, and I knew coming in that there was lots wrong with the profession, but I had hopes that eventually things would be fixed. I am not upset about the melee mod, I use pets. I am upset that getting Master gave me one thing, and every other tree in the Commando line is useless.

Maybe I'll come back to it.. it sucks though. All I ever wanted to do in this game, aside from the obvious, is be a Master Commando.

I to am now considering dropping this profession. However, I'm not sure which profession I can choose that the STEATH NERF BAT won't swing at, Perhaps Droid Engineer. It's already so broke there's nothing left to nerf Unless they just Delete the whole profession.

What bother's me the most is that the Dev's will succumb to Popular Opinion so easily instead of what is best for the game. We gave a multitude of options, identified the problems for them, and this so called "Combat Developer" went totaly the oposite of our suggestionsand even his own. As far as I'm concerned he just simply lied to us which was the reason for the "STEALTH NERF", His absence since the Patch, and his refusal to get on this forum to discuss this. Am I upset, yep, thoroughly. Because we have a combat leader Dev. that will succumb to the mass of whiner's and crier's because they say we're over powered but won't even listen to "CUSTOMERS" who play the profession.

And now that they have hired a new guy to field all these complaints they don't have to respond to them. Let the new guy have at it. I don't know if any of the rest of you have noticed butjust about all responses to anything have stopped from the dev's regarding anything to do with profession inequalities. TH I mean no disrespect to you oryour profession, however, the way it looks to meyou have been turned into the scape goat. Since you appearance on these boards as of lastMonday"NOBODY" has responded to any problem post at all. Even though you have a lot of catching up to do, I don't hold you responsible at all, The other staff could at least field these problems till you are up to speed enough to answer.

Mastersynn, you have done and are doing a great job. It's this Combat leader Dev guy that has bent us over with no lube and said livewith because that's what the majority wants. My question to him is who is the next NERF VICTIM? The Combat Medic, because the masses are now screaming about them but of course"NOBODY" isscreaming about the BH because the majority of the Players areBH. Why don't you just NERF the entire game. Give everybody the same CDEF Pistol/rifle with the exact same skills and only oneprofession then you can claimPERFECT balance ( which is and never will be possible aslong as popular opinion rules) nerf all mission to 50cr a piece and nobody will ever be able to buy anything so youeffectively nerf the crafters professon's as well. Now you have balance throughout the game and nobody can cry, whine, or complain that anybody is more powerful or has too much money.

This Nerfing for popular opinionhas got to stop. Set the game the way it's suppose to be and leave it. Tell all the whiners, cryers and belly ackers to learn to play the game as intended and within the chosen Profession.

P.S. And before I forget, I can't wait to see what you do with the Jedi because I already see the "STEALTH NERF" coming.

Thanks a ton Master Synn. Exactly what I think we need from you (communication). I'm not thrilled with what's happening, but I think it does go a long was to the usefulness of this forum to keep us in the know (however bad that may be). Thanks again for your efforts. We'll do what we can too.

I've passed on the grenade issues but Pall hasn't addressed them directly. He has said that he's open to increasing our accuracies at master level but whether that might affect all or only some of our weapons, who knows. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Be careful when you start complaining about other professions. That only makes you sound like the professions who complain about us. Bounty Hunters have been hurt by the melee multiplier change too. Their LLC is a heavy weapon, just like ours, and is now seen as ranged. They too are suffering the damage multiplier when fighting melee opponents.

I spoke with their correspondent, Wepps,on Tuesday and he is in favor of removing the melee multiplier. I really don't think Bounty Hunters, a hybrid class like ours, are the ones doing the most complaining. I'd like to see us form a tight relationship with them since we have more in common with them than we do with the other ranged professions.

Yeah, I know you're right. It's just that besides our flamethrower, we don't get much love with the other our weapons. A bounty hunter can switch to a carbine or scatter pistol and is extremely effective. Our launcher pistol doesn't get special skills with it, and I don't even need to tell you about the HAR. I think the biggest complaint about commandos has always been the flame DOT. If this was reduced, that would've ended the complaints, IMO. Bounty Hunters, Commandos, and Combat Medic's spend more skill points to achieve than any other combat profession, so I think we deserve to be stronger then other combat fields head-to-head. A master pistoleer can make up for his weaknesses by being a master creature handler or master some other profession, which can make them equal to the hybrid combat classes. That is where the balance comes into play, not nerfing the top tier combat classes to the point where they are weaker than elite combat classes. I'm sorry, but a person who is just a master pistoleershould not be on the same level as someone who is a master BH, CM, or commando. Right now i'm forced to use knockdown with my pistol, whip out my flamethrower and burn them, and quickly switch to my pistol again, hoping the whole time that they don't get up before I get my pistol back. A commando having to run away on the battlefield makes no sense. I greatly appreciate the work you put in, but it seems your work is done in vain. I think eventually enough people will complain in our favor that they'll remove the melee modifier, but it doesn't sound like it'll be anytime soon.
