Encountering AT-ST's more often on Rebel faction missions and PvE situations. Looking for advice from the rest of the Commando community on the most successful strategies to take this adversary out. Thanks.

Don't!

or

Group!

Seriously, it's not something you solo against. You need a group, with someone able to heal you while you fire off attacks at the cheese weapon.

If you have a CH pet, be prepared to sacrifice it. Along with that, have a droid. Along with that, take a faction pet, the toughest you can afford. Be prepared to heal that.

Even with that small army (squad), have additional support. A combat medic/medic/doctor to apply heals to you as you take damage. A combat medic that can used range healing to help heal you and your pets is a great party member.

After that, having a pack master, another Commando, or something similar is a good idea.

Get a group together and take the whole group out to do missions. Everyone get 2, and go and kill.

If you can get about 6 - 10 people in the group, along with their pets, faction pets, droids, etc., you'll have adequate killing power, and you'll all get faction points out the wazzoo as you go.

Solo-ing AT-STs is not advisable. Use your head, when you see them while solo-ing, move on and live to fight at a later time.

Especially in a mission or PvE. In a city you can protect your self by breaking LoS, that isin't going to happen out in the field.

I'd recommend getting a medic/doctor on board if your going to attack an AT-ST. I've killed 2 with the help of a Master Doctor . We used a CH pet (CL30 )as tank and swapped in a non-CH petafterits mind was destroyed. I'd hate to try one in PvP where a player could ignore the pets.

When i go after an at-st i expect to die, but i take it down with me.

for those times in the field when you cant afford to die, i use a graul mauler. i send my pet, while the at-st is busy with my grual, i sneak up with my flamethrower, set him aflame, then get back, i then use a rocket laucher or sometimes i spam overchargeshot2 with my launcher pistol, (which is much faster than rocket launcher, but i dont believe has any ap ability, i should check that out.) my grual is almost diffinitely dead, but i usually can stay alive. however i would suggest you avoid these kind of missions. at-sts are appearing in lvl 25 missions for some reason. the cash payout and fp payout is definitely not worth the efforts

and there was much rejoicing...

The only ATST I've everdefeatedwithout other player helpI did like this:

(1) The mission was in a deep ravine in the mountains outside Deeja Peaks.

(2) I started as covert, with exploration IVand got within the sweet spotto use specialswith my damage sliced Flamethrower.

(3) I yelled for my Rock Beetle to attack, paused half a second, then hit FlameCone2.

(4) Then I burstran up the side of a near verticle slope of the mountain, just like I do every morning in real life.

After killing my pet, the ATST and the Impthat was also at the base started up the mountain for me...but neither seemed to be doing so well against the hill. The mountains next to Deeja are very high, so I was able to kite a good long way. The Imperial officer fell quickly to the flame DoT. The ATST took way longer but died in a few minutes.

Can this tactic be applied to any other encounter with an ATST? Probably not. Every other ATST I've tries to solo kicked my butt pretty fast.

All of the below work, I've done them all fairly successfullling. If you have a pet tanking it really isn't to difficult once you get flame-2. When they get rid of the DOT for the them it will make the more difficult.

Method 1

tank it with a pet,

flame-2 until it dies

Method 2

tank it with a pet

4-6 shots with a RL (at most)

Method 3 (enhanced and lucky)

Flame-2

run in circles at its feet and repeat

optional clone and start back at flame-2

I've solo'd about 10-15 ATST's so far... Died many times more. I can tell you a basic strategy I use that my or my not work for you depending on what secondary professions you may be.

First I will tell you I am a Master TKA/Master Commando/Novice Medic...

First I prepare...

I take Muon Gold then Power Boost to get to 1300-1500 HAM

Next I approash with full armor and no weapon.

When I get within 20 meters of the beast I use Warcry1 it (hopefully it hasnt started shooting at me before then)

next I quickswitch Flamesingle2 using a premade macro, then run around for a few seconds...

I cant do anything till the flame lag ends but I instinctively heal once after that...

then I use the Marksman Skill "Tumble" which makes me harder to hit

If I'm not dead now I try to Flamecone2 for stacking effect.

Heal again, then RUN FOR MY LIFE while I Tumble again and again till it dies..

I use my Bloodseeker Mite as a tank. I think its 80% energy resist with about 9700 HAM, so he can go in and tank the hell out of the at-st. Once the mite goes in, I charge in and set down FlameSingle 2, FlameCone 2, FlameSingle 1, FlameCone 1. At that point, I back off and pull out my launcher pistol to take advantage of the blast damage. Usually by the time I get the 4th burn down, he is at half health and dropping fast.

I have done this method ever since I had a Greater Sludge Panther... only at that time, I would lay down 3 burns then take off running. The panther would bite the dust, but by that time, I was a significant distance away and could keep it at the fringes of its attack range. When it was about to die, I ran back in to 60m and maybe took a couple shots.

I hit number 59 the other day. Thats 13 PvP and 46 PvE at-st.

He is my tactic for taking out AT-ST's solo, it only works if they don't agro on you first. Hit burst run, run in flame single 2, run out during the delay then run in and flame single 1, run out and wait for it to die. Works 90% of the time. Expect to take at least 2 hits during the exchange. But since I use a shield and 58% Composite it allows me to take the 2 hits and live. Since you are running the whole time the AT-ST tends to miss a lot, the only time you are really in danger is when you stop to fire off the specials.

I use my 2 graul mauler to tank it, then i throw flame 2, flame 1, and flame con 1. Now, switch to rocket launcher......

This is the best way I found to destroy AT-ST, but my success rate is only 60%.

Three Easy Steps to taking down an AT-ST

1)Get Ewoks

2)Get rope

3)a Hang the Ewoks from the rope so the guys inside the AT-ST die of laughter and or fright.

3)b Eat dead Ewoks, I heard they make great BBQ if you heat them at 300F with your Flamer

(Ohh and this only applies on Endor, all other planets use the tactics that everyone else stated)
