My fellow community members, tomarrow will be a day of reckoning. For the first time since the CU, our profession will at last see some *major* and much needed fixes for top issues.
At last, we'll be seeing some love to our grenades and built-in utility. We'll be seeing AoE working as it should be. We'll also be seeing some misc, but also annoying bugs fixed...
And then, Specials. This was entirely unexpected, and is a welcome addition to the profession. I am confident to say that I think the Dev's have heard us, and are beginning to move the profession in the direction that we wanted to go in according to what we should have been in the Combat Upgrade.
However, I say beginning...as the reports from TC2 still show that damage is pathetically weak (either negligence or bugged, as advanced versions of our new specials are no better than overcharge shot). Beta will be closing today, and prior we were promised that we would be seeing more changes based off of test feedback.
We have yet to see those changes. So, just as a warning...I would not expect a significant boost of damage from our new specials tomarrow. Unless, if the devs pull another out-of-left-field addition, where the changes come to live. Unorthodox of SOE in my opinion, given we have not tested such changes if that is the case.
The fact of the matter remains nevertheless; it seems we will have to wait a bit longer in regards to our new-found specials in the damage department. But, we got them. At last we got them my friends, and that is a start.
I was hoping to make this with the fact that our specials were going to positvely rock tomarrow...but I'm afraid we'll have to settle with the knowing that we have a solid foundation to build off of now, and...we got our AoE fixed. So break out the champagne, there are many more battles ahead...but we won our second one since the Combat Upgrade. We even got it listed under Profession: Commando to boot
.
Fyi, I'll be relaying...the concern...regarding the specials, again. I have yet to recieve any word regarding the matter since my last inquiery a few days ago.

Definately a great start, and just as certainly, more battles ahead. Stacks of 10 grenades is nice, but I'd like more "bang for my buck". If I can buy a really good PFT for 40k on my server and use it for weeks before needing a replacement, I'd like to see the same from a stack of grenades. Stacks of 100 is what I'd like to see, that or just make them "grenade launchers" and give them a condition just like anything else. As for the specials, yeah, they need serious help. I remain guardedly optimistic, but for as much as we have just received, it won't be enough until it's all fixed. Just the sight of specials listed under the Commando skill tree made it worth wading through the 100's of idiots dueling in front of the frogs to get at some real testing. Thanks for the effort on our behalf StarNick, and if you're still passing along player quotes "Thanks Helios".

This has convinced me to re-do Commando.
You may remember me trolling your forums a few months back?
Well, all I can say is Melee is screwed, but Commando lives again!

If specials stay as they are, there will not be much help for the melee commandos...but once/if we get the much needed damage increases to them, those templates won't be so screwed.

True, true...I was thinking about doing Carbineer/Commando.

The way I always thought of commando, is the profession that PVP groups immediately call for when destroying a base. Especially one that has 100k ham turrets.
Commandos should be the ranged tanks in the battlefield.
Just my thoughts...

Pub-24 has been postponed...hopefully, the day it comes out we'll be seeing some love to our new specials' damages...as well as the not so much anticipated new healing changes/movement buffs...

This might prove to be a good thing if they're incorporating changes to make our specials better...
When things hit live, it always seems very hard to change them...or at least the devs are reluctant to. Features/additions always get tweaked/modified/overhauled faster in Betas...

I think this happened:
AOE didnt work.
See the Prophecies. It has begun even BEFORE the fix.
Dark times indeed.

Congratulations to all of you in getting a first important step back on the path of relevance.
I'm not a Commando, but I've always liked the Profession and wanted to see them succeed. Hopefully, once the Publish 24 delay gets worked out, I'll be able to be a Squad Leader with a few "SAW Gunners" on my team. Heheh.
