Thread: MANDOLORIAN ARMOR was designed to kill Commandos ! (The Developers really do hate us..)

You think this is a sick joke, or I must be ranting.. NO ! I am dead serious..

I never believed in the whole, " The Devs hate us.. " posts that float around the forums from time to time, thats until I saw the latest pics of the Mandolorian Armor. I was shocked to see that the Armor was designed with only 1 profession in mind.. Bounty Hunters.. sure it says 4, but in the end, the armor was made strictlywith the Bounty Hunters in mind..

Here is the proof, out of the 4 profession that use it only two profession are offensive professions, Commandos and Bounty Hunters, and when I mean offensive I mean they have weapons actually made for their profession like the Flame Thrower and the Light Lighting Cannon.

Okay look at the pic and judge for yourself.. http://www.freepgs.com/bigchiplan/swg/dw17.jpg

From aBounty HunterStance, anyone wearing Mandolorian Armor ( only Master BH's, SL's, Rangers, and Commandos ), Are protected from Commando weapons with a 65% protection against are #1 dmg type Blast, the others, like Heat and Acid, come in at a 58%. So with that said, if youra Bounty Hunterwearing Mandolorian Armor you stand a good chance of suriving a attack against a Commando.

From aCommando Stance, if youare a Commandowearing asuit ofMandolorian armor your F**ked (no easy way to say it..). The Bounty Hunter is goingto have a field day with you ! There is ZERO Protection against Electricity ! ZERO ! That Light Lighting Cannon thatnobody but a Bounty Hunter can use is gonna dofull damage ! Over 1000 points of Damage or moreto be exact !This insures the fact that Commandos wont wear the armor, basicallymaking the armor a exclusive Bounty HunterArmor.

The question arises, well what about the Heavy Lighting Cannon ? Heh if you can hit the damn target with one you might stand a chance, but then again, most commandos cant hit the broad side of a barn doorwith aHLC.

The more important question is why Blast as a special Protection and not Stun, or one of the more common type of dmgs that the majority of people use.. Blast Damage can only be done by Commandos.. So what good does a armor that Master Commandos are allowed to use protect against there own damage type ? The armor should be made with a " Us against Them " view point.. "Us" being the elite, against "them" being the common.. Sort of like a Crowd Control Defense. It does no good to have a armor that does "Us" against "Us" thats what the certifaction is for.. to protect against common fighters from using it.. no point in having Blast defense when only a few can do it to begin with..Have the damage protect against the damage types that most fighters use.. Energy, Kinetic, Stun, Heat.. and then beef those types of dmg protection types up a notch over normal armors. Effectively making the Mandolorian Armor a grade above normal armor by making the armor protection Medium or Heavy.

The way it stands now, nobody but Bounty Hunters will use the Armor and even then I dont know why Bounty Hunters would use it either since the Armor barely protects against the common man sporting acold rifle or a stunpistol.. As a Commando I rather stick to Composite Armorand have protection against electricity if I had to fight a elite profession like Bounty Hunter not to mention the Composite Armor is easier to obtain and I wouldnt be worried about getting it dirty or a dent in it ( something your gonna get when your aelite commando ).

The Mandolorian Armor has hurt us more then helped us.. Thanks Devs..

1) Armor stats will vary depending on the skill of the crafter and the quality of materials used. The stats can go higher than what's shown, I imagine, same as all other armors.

2) So it's extra-resistant to blast damage. That means the devs hate us? I mean, yeah, I think the devs have it in for us, but just because it gives extra blast protection means nothing. Good ubese has about 70% kinetic resists: does that mean the devs hate TKA?

3) The Mandalorians were highly-paid mercenaries. They saw hard battles often, like us commandos. To me, it only makes sense that their armor would have been made with explosive blasts in mind so as to better protect the warrior wearing it, because their average targets would have been soldiers, be it a private army or whatever.

***Valcyn - Lt. Colonel Ryubushi [ONE] of the Empire (the Tank Maniac); Career Master Commando, Master Carbineer, and extremely Anti-NGE.
***Eclipse - Ryushidosha, freelancer; Scaley Master Carbineer, ranger, merc for hire, and general sociopath...that despises the NGE.
***StarSider - Ja'ahn Woo [PYRO] of the Alliance - The Galaxy's first Jawa commando/carbineer...who also hates the NGE.

People like me...because I force them to...with violence!

I agree totally Gank, I was acctually sure THIS armor would have stun protection-would certainly give it a edge over composite... and seeing as its resitances are to ourTHREE main guns, it cant be a coincidence... I also was under the impression we would get mandalorian armor specifically made for us, and only wearable by us... Thinking of this I started telling myself "Wow we are finnaly going to be recognized"... But cmon... Instead I find this armor will be our new #1 weakness? (after comp is reduced 50%) Kinda lame of the devs to do this kinda crap, Its no wonder there are not many commando's, they quit this game hopeing the next wont besuch waist of time.

Don't forget the upcoming combat revamp will redo armor; I'm guessing Mando already accounts for the patch and will actually be uber come September.

Ah, never mind. was going respond with somelong complaint, but have come to the point where i dont care anymore. We all know the game sucks, all the professions suckand are broke...blah blah blah. bottom line the game stinks - we ALL are let down, it will never get better.

On the optimistic side...WOW is on ebgames scheduled for an august release...

i guess you forgot that swordsman (2h melee) can use power hammers that do blast damage also.

but the real thing isthatnobody who ever got/will gettheir hands on mandalorian armor would/will be dumb enough to actually wear it in combat. would you risk it getting decayed? in order to make a viable run through the DW bunker it costs at least a million credits between a new suit of armor and proper buffs per person on average if you intendt to make it anywherefar in there. I dont think these poeple woulduse somethign so crappy (statwise) because they probably have betterif they can afford to make a serius run in there in the first place. Its nothing more than a very expensive and very very rare trophy.

But seriously, give Mando some time. Once people figure out the keys to crafting it, we will likely see some Mando that is competitive with high end Ubese and perhaps even Composite.

And, let's face it.... the crappy first Mando ever crafted is still better then Wookiee armour.

I read on a post somewhere that the mando armor will always have low protections andissupposed to be more a trophy than something you would actually use in combat.

Armour balancing is definately interesting - and might be a way to balance the classes.

Lets see what happens with the combat system before making any judgements.
