Thread: Burning Recovery, Tumble

I just read something on Stop Drop and Roll in another post... And I thought, burning has no fix to it like bleed does... So how about Tumble to slightly put out the flames... Now think about it, when you tumble, you can't use special attacks... Your deffense is slightly increased too... But you still can't shoot specials... Hmm

Make it like First Aid is, it will take several to put it out, but it will still be put out eventually... And they wont be able to use specials while doing it...

Who likes?

So only people with ranged support get to put out flames? No, I don't like.

Well, if you think about it, the people who worry about being caught on fire are usually marksmen... Might as well have SOMETHING that can put out flames....

Its like saying, Man, nothing can puts flames out... What the hell should we do?

Somebody comes along and says, How bout doing this and this...?

We can't do that, because everyone wont be able to do it... Thats kinda the point though, nothing can put out flames, lets have something that can, but few people would use, so there is still some value there.

If there is something that puts out flames, it should be something that everyone can do. It makes very little sense to give it to marksman as opposed to brawlers. I would think that a brawler would be more acrobatic and have better tumbling ability than a marksman. In fact medics should know better than anyone how to deal with a person on fire.

The right solution would be some sort of 15-30 second animation of a person rolling on the ground shouting in pain. This would be a skill all people would have and would basically leave them vulnerable for that period. That way using it in combat would be too dangerous, but using it after combat is over would be fine.

Giving the ability to marksman just because they have a tumble skill is just lame in IMO.

See, but if we use the above logic... not everyone can put out flames in water cause anyone on tatooine has no water to put them out with. Not everyone can use first aid either, but thats the way to stop bleeding.

I like the idea about tumbling, but I doubt it will ever be put in.

The thing I like most about this... oh my god its someone trying to think constuctive instead of just saying NERF!! hehe

As a matter of note... does anyone use tumbling as it stands now?

I'd support master combat medics getting an /extinguish command that would reduce the DOT the same way /firstaid reduces poison. I would not support a single command that would instantly remove the dot. The FT DPS is nothing special. The DOT is the only thing is really has going for it.

Furthermore, if they implement a medical cure for burning, they need to remove the environmental "jump in a lake" cure. Napalm burns under water anyway.

Ok then, so when can i expect to stop bleeds, poisons and diseases without medical skills? Using your logic, it should be something that everyone can do.

"Not everyone can use first aid either, but thats the way to stop bleeding."

But the difference here is that at least those who have the first aid skill can apply it to someone else. You can't "tumble" someone else.

Quit being idiotic and ask yourself if you, assuming you have no real medical training: "CouldI figure out how to roll around on the ground to put out a fire.?" Of course you could! Comparing this to medical abilities to stop bleeding is not a good comparison at all.

It's not that you're just burning. You're covered in a jellied gasoline or napalm. You can't rub it off, you can't stop drop and roll, frankly water wouldn't even put it out. If you're hit with a flame thrower, stop drop and roll just isn't going to do it.

Maybe master combat medic would be extreme, but I think that novice combat medic, with the skill increasing in potency through the combat medic profession would be a reasonable place to put the /extinguish skill.

It's a dot from a heavy weapon of an elite hybrid class, and the DoT is the only thing that really makes the gun worth wile. Removing the dot should require an elite profession.

Lets create an entirely new entry-level profession and call them "Firefighters". It'll be a starter profession that can make and usea unique weapon, the "Garden Bucket.". They'll fill it with water at a river or ocean, then be able to use it whenever they like to reduce the intensity of burning. The weapon should be single-use before having to refill it (though they could carry more than one at a time).

Trees should include "Bucket Tossing" (range, accuracy, and speed mods), "Drenching" (effectiveness mod of each bucket), "Fluid Dynamics" (Faster fill rate for buckets), and "Bucket Crafting" (allows the firefighter to build bigger and better buckets, ranging from the basic "Garden Pail" to the awesome and feared "Big Vat O' Wet".)
