Heya all


Back before the curb i was a master commando master smuggler and retired for a while.


Been back a few weeks now and truely back into the swing of things. Was wondering how my old profession was faring. I asked a few people and they seemed to clam up and utter a few bad phrases..... So how are things really? How did the curb treat you specials, and weapons wise?

To Sum it up:

We're a Damage Dealing Support Profession that lacks the damage dealing capabilities, and is only support for half of the possible templates out there (ranged).

Specials...none, all of our damage is supposed to flow from our weapons. However, all they have are built-in states and elemental damage...and really are no better than rifles (the elemental in our weapons balance out here, as HW's are the in between of carbines-rifles damage value wise). However, we have the highest SAC and the slowest weapons...

In theory our weapons should've been really power to justify those restrictions. In application, nope.

We got our collective heads smashed against the CURB.


The only thing we have going for us now is that our pre-reqs dropped from Master Marksman and UA4 to Ranged Support 4 and UA4.


Oh, and heavy weapon tapes work now.


Grenades still suck, as do our DoTs, our rocket launcher was watered down to be less powerful than most pistols, we have no state recoveries, our AoE isn't as damaging as it was supposed to be, and we have absolutely zero specials anymore. And, oh yeah, we're apparently not a real profession; we're meant to be a toolbox to enhance other professions.


The assault rifle we begged for was finally given to us, though...it's a rare loot drop off an uber bad guy who resides at the bottom of a long and dangerous maze which has a pretty fast respawn timer. Your chance of looting one of these assault rifles is about 1 in 30, or worse.


In short, we got shafted. Bad.

***Eclipse - Ryushidosha, freelancer; Scaley Master Carbineer, ranger, merc for hire, and general sociopath...that despises the NGE.
***StarSider - Ja'ahn Woo [PYRO] of the Alliance - The Galaxy's first Jawa commando/carbineer...who also hates the NGE.

good lord good god good guacamoli. talk about a kick to the groin. Im so sorry guys it really sounds drasically awful.



so the only real way to play commando now is to couple it with some other combat prof? do all the weapons now lay dots on automatically with massive agro effects?


and is this how they want you to be or is a fix supposedly tabled for the very distant future.

Things aren't going to good for Commando these days, to put it in short, simple terms.

I felt more useful as a Commando in the Pre-CU days than now, even though we were One-Trick Ponies back then.

I am going Commando (hehe) with my alt on Chimaera.


Putting it with CM 4000, but cant decide whether to round off with MPistols or MCarbs ??


Any words of wisdom pls??

I personally prefer M.Carbineer with it, but M.Pistoleer has a variety of state / control specials that you might like with it.

Like a baby treats a diaper.


The good news is that your old template is one of the few functioning professioncombinations for Commando that actually does what it should for the most part. It powers up Smuggler crowd control very nicely. If you were hoping for a damage dealing profession to accompany Smuggler, however, you can get pretty much everything Commando offers a Smuggler at novice, using a launcher pistol, and then tacking on master Carbineer or Rifleman. Or, you can stick both out and see where it goes, which is what i am doing. I am hoping for both decent damage dealing, and smuggler content before another year passes.

HPBC...RL...PR...Corellian Destroyer...HAR

All single target...

The AoE's...everything else

And btw, I'm extremely happy today...
