Thread: PvP and nades...

This post is not a moan...more of a question.

I'm a 3 0 4 0 commando and have had nades specially made for range (+32 at 30m). I've also got a +10 thrown weapon accuracy AA in my armor.

So tonight we got jumped by 6 djk's at the aggro outpost on dant and I thought what a good opportunity to try them out Out of about, what must have been, 50 nades not one hit.

In an ideal situation you'd be aiming at the overt person next to the jedi. I was aiming at the DJK's because they're wasn't anyone about to AOE off to hit them.

So my questions are:

(1) Are they considered ranged weapons and hence the jedi had 85% blocking rights?
(2) Are jedi just very difficult to hit even with Master Commando mods, tapes and AA's?

commadoes mods are broke for grenades, you are any more accurate or faster than a wookie throwing c12's they also damge you if they hit. personal preference I would like to see the mods work before the damage to ourselves is fixed, but that is where I differ with most CU peeps. Oh well. I guess if they hit more than once a blue moon I would care.

I once fought an Imperial while using Proton grenades. We engaged unbuffed at about 5m without armor.

3k hit to both of us

I still think he hit the ground before me .

Once, loooong ago, before our FT DOT nerf...

My guild's town was under attack, and we were defending. I managed to get a good cone2 off, and had most of the enemy solders running for their lives... I cut them off at the other end of a bottleneck near or clone center and shuttleport. I tried to do another cone to do them in, but hit the wrong button in my toolbar throwing a proton grenade at one of them.

Much to my surprise, IT HITS(!) and immediately incaps 4 out of the 7 of them in one shot . The remaining two see me, and come zooming at me only to be mowed down by my riflman friend's strafe shot .

On a separate occasion, much later on, some Dark Jedi had entered our town and destroyed our turrets. There were 5 of them, and two of us (myself and a riflman), both unbuffed. One of the jedi, for some reason, pulls out a little mouse droid. I look at it, look at my toolbar, and I decide I know what has to be done in the name of the Rebelion...

I hit that little sucker with a rocket just as one of the Jedi's mind buffs runs out... one master head shot 3 to him, and he was corpsed . BOOyah!

Nades and heavy weapons are somewhat useful, though a suicidal mindset is often required. You just have to ask yourself, "Is my freedom worth my life?" (or for Imperials "What is the value of a single life when order itself is at stake?")

As far as I know Saber Block doesnt work against 'nades. A couple of nasty Cryo Bangs or Gloops with Klikklik enhancements would floor a Jedi. If you managed to land them...

To actually get a 'nade to hit in PvP though your best to target a near by lair or overt crafter class and hope the blast areahits your target either that or throw lots and lots of nades really really fast and pray you dont get hit in the interim.

the acc mod works, but 3000 is not enough...with mid range grenades (ideal acc@20m) I miss one or two shots out of ten on a jedi.

Thanks for the replies

Not really sure what to do now as this line is where the mitigation & our very small group of defensive mods are.

Bit peeved that you need to be a master commando to make nades useful in pvp accuracy wise. That stinks of a broken skill mod to me. But there you go...

Well our class is nothing if not broken...not as bad as say Smuggler or Ranger of course but there are plenty issues that appear to the casual non real world technical Commando player to be easy to fix.

1) Saberblock counts as a dodge, if your Combat spam says "You hit [Jedi] for xxx points of damage but they block it!" then it was a blocked hit. A miss is a miss.
2) Not really. It's not that difficult to hit Jedi with anything, they have pretty crappy defence. Only 95 Ranged Defence at Master Defender, and that's with the enhanced reflexes tree. Without the 0/4/0/0 Enh Reflexes or 0/4/0/0 Defender lines, Jedi have zero ranged defence other than saber block.
3) Don't forget, Grenade range is buggy. They actually have a 32m cap, but if you throw at over that, you just use a gren and miss automatically instead of getting an out of range error.

I am a weaponsmith i have a question for all you commandos in reguards to aklay grenades. have any of you used much of them and if so with any luck in PVP?

I have been messing around collecting aklay venom and made some solid c22's with them. In fact i have about 10 singles that after slice and powerup are just over 6k max damage. Is this someting that you as a profession would be interested in? thanks for your time

Maybe it is just broken for Heavy weapons because my own testing shows no difference with any heavy weapon.
