Thread: Current Commando Issues! Please read before posting!

Ok folks, lots of influx of new/existing commandoes complaining about the lack of AoE as well as grenade problems. The damages are too light according to Helios, and AoE is being fixed/looked at (upped too hopefully from its intended 10% Base/100% elemental) - the current state of commando is NOT intended, we are currently NOT living up to our "5" in offense so please do not get bent out of shape.

The "intended" nature of commando is suppoused to have so much firepower in terms of AoE and ability to "power-up" specials, is that we have to be careful and find a way to control that power to our benefit. Atm our AoE does 0 or 1 points of damage and not even the intended percentages anymore, so our borkness factor atm is out the wazoo.

Helios is working on it since his last reply to my concerns, and hears us loud and clear. I have no ETA on fixes, but its being worked on. Until then, its a fully known issue and doesn't need to be reveberated constantly - Im stickying this thread so everyone will be on the same page!

I know it sucks, but we're trying to get it rectified...until then, be assured of this! Also, elemental damages will be seeing some love, what I don't know is when so please be patient. I know its a lot to ask given that we've been patient for a very long time, but its coming...

Not to piss on yer parade Starnick, but i've been hearing the same thing from every correspondent for the past year and a half.

Nothing to do you with you I know. I guess i'll just believe it when I see it.. or when I have an SOE dev within arm's reach.

Sorry if I sound disrespecful here, but this sounds exactly like what happened in the smuggler revamp.


No, I'm not waiting. My faith in the devs is gone.The expansion they just pushed out is an example of that. They made the fighters, advertised as accessible to everyone, faction specific, and they KNEW they were doing it too. They screwed over the crafting professions with the new uber loot and quest weapons. They gave BHs an I Win button with the Proton Carbine.


And there's the CU. The horrid level system. The overpowered mobs. The rediculous particle effects. The insane certs. The thing that made it so our profession can't compete in both PvP AND PvE.


No, I'm done waiting hopelessly on the devs. I want to see action NOW.


Heck, we'd be better off if we went off and WROTE our own MMORPG.

No disrespect taken, its aggravating that I would even have to tell you guys that you all need to wait (I know some of you are bitter and have that feeling that SOE won't follow through, etc etc), but I only made this sticky because it seems every day or so we have a new community person coming in yelling out that AoE's broke and whatnot, its unhealthy as a community when every other post is about the same exact topic, and that not everyone is on the same page.

Btw at least some good news in the "Whats on Deck" publish notes:

"Grenade crates should now produce grenades with proper execution times."

At least for now that'll help a bit with the borked timers...

Aye I was going to say that some stuff will likely get fixed soon. ALOT of the broken pre-CU crated items are getting fixed on the crafter side of things. Supposedly tomorrows patch should be fixing most of those issues. (Crated items not showing hte right stats. Grenades, Armor layers, Armor segments etc). It actualy looks like they really are fixing this stuff. Maybe not quickly. But they are doing it.

So no ETA? So is there an ETA on when the respec period ends? Hell, no one knows what Commando is supposed to be hitting like at the moment. We are supposed to hit like a 5.... well, that is pretty relative. Have faith in what? They advertised falsey in the weapons being in the CU and were actually in the expansion. They advertised ships as being multi-factioned (which are in a sly kinda marketing way). Half the quests are borked... and well is any part of this prof actually working correctly at the moment?


Unhealthy for the community to have some angred... yeah it probably is. Well, lets see... do I chance my final days of respec to keep commando and hope we get balanced in the next CU? Or do I stay with a tested template that works and say screw my roots? They need to extend the respec period until we can actually have a working prof to experiment on. How are we supposed to know if this is going to be the right prof if it is inline for a revamp after the revamp?

I just got here, so I'm not going anywhere (part-timeflamer pre-cu). Like it or not, the standard business model for software release is to let it loose in the world and patch the hell out of it. Microsoft does it. Oracle does it. Who is surprised the SOE does it?


I don't even know the long-time, hard-core commandos yet and, at this rate, it looks like I'll never know many of them. I do consider that my loss. Bugs will come and bugs will go. Maybe minds will change before respec goes away.

Yeah good stuff, Commandos are lacking.


Most MBH/Carbineers are breaking 500+ DPS w/ the Proton Carbine, I even know someone that is 700+ DPS. Modded Up w/ my pre-CU Flamer (about +18 in speed) I'm a little over 500DPS w/ a combat line remaining (should raise the DPS I think).


I'm not aware of how elemental damage is supposed to work but i've noticed thatarmor in PCs (and NPCs I hear) have the same elemental resists. So, hopefully thats a good thing.
