Ok, as another person said. What if "As intended" is well after respec is over and it still sucks? or what if its greatly better after respec and those who left want to come back since things are funtional now?

Ok, I've been out of "The loop" lately and to be brutally honest I have no idea what the current state of the game is......moving/renovating house.

I think that the fact that Starnick's on the case and considering the involvement of Helios in the recent past, I wouldn't dismiss the chance of a correction of the issue's at hand.

Yeah I know, I'm optimistic, but I think the odds are in our favour.

Oh, and as Cpl_Fisher said "Commando until the end".

So no ETA? So is there an ETA on when the respec period ends? Hell, no one knows what Commando is supposed to be hitting like at the moment. We are supposed to hit like a 5.... well, that is pretty relative. Have faith in what? They advertised falsey in the weapons being in the CU and were actually in the expansion. They advertised ships as being multi-factioned (which are in a sly kinda marketing way). Half the quests are borked... and well is any part of this prof actually working correctly at the moment?

Unhealthy for the community to have some angred... yeah it probably is. Well, lets see... do I chance my final days of respec to keep commando and hope we get balanced in the next CU? Or do I stay with a tested template that works and say screw my roots? They need to extend the respec period until we can actually have a working prof to experiment on. How are we supposed to know if this is going to be the right prof if it is inline for a revamp after the revamp?

Commando until the end.

I really wish I could share the same level of optimism as other long-time Commandos have who are still here... but I can't.

Commando had been severely broken a long, long time. We had to endure this for a long, long time.

I too had endured being the "One Trick Pony" or "3-Legged Dog" in Pre-CU SWG. I too had endured the insult of people asking me upon seeing my Master Commando tag, "Why the h*ll Commando?"

I watched, just before I reached Novice Commando, Commandos, as broken as they were, being Nerfed.

I reached Novice Commando still and made my way to Master. I added the "SEMPER COMMANDO" line to my sig on these forums. I stayed despite our gimpedness. I switched my template several times, but never had I dropped even that Master Commando box. I never settled for "Shock Trooper" either.

I recall the embarassment I felt when I threw a grenade as part of a group and killed myself with my own grenade.

In the Pre-CU days, the devs supposedly made us out to be the Heavy Weapons Specialists, able to deal out considerable damage. We weren't by a long shot. When Commando got close to that, the profession was Nerfed. We were either boken really badly, or broken really, really, really badly in the "Old Days." Still, I held on to M.Commando, hoping for better days, some fixes to make us useful.

Then came the Combat Rebalance / Upgrade. In the preview of the CU, the devs specifically said that Commando was supposed to be the heavy hitter profession. Well, Test Center came and went, the CU is already on Live, it is now early May 10, 2005, and we aren't. We just have a different set of issues now.

I used to have the faith in SWG and in Commando, but reality and experience in SWG over time had killed that young child.

It hurt me this past weekend to remove Commando from my template. It hurt me just as bad to remove my "SEMPER COMMANDO" line from my sig tonight as I write this message.

It's like the devs have put Commando as one oftheir "b**tard child" professions. Well, they fooled me once already when I clung to Master Commando for so long in blind faith and loyalty. They won't fool me again.

Let me say that the Commando Correspondents who have been onboard when I became a Commando, tried their best to make us a better profession. I hung around for most of Garvin's tenure as our Correspondent. I remember the hope I had for us when he went over to the Correspondent Summit in Texas and fought for us. Starnick, you became our Correspondent rather recently, but youstruggled for us from what I've seen on this board.

But forgive me when I say, that I moved onto other professions that are more reliable and are not as broken. I don't have the faith anymore that the devs want to fix us, regardless of who takes interest in us.

ok...I have anguished over the new CU and finally came to terms with it with my commando. My pet peeve is that, with the upddate, there was supposed to be more flexibility with the types of profs we got to choose but there are NO specials given to commandos. This forces us to take up other profs (I've chosen BH, wisely) to survive. I do not want to be a BH; I have both been there and done that. What is the point in taking away the pre-req of Master Marksman if we have to branch out just to get specials?

But wait..it says in the manual that we're supposed to craft our own explosives and we need engineering IV as a pre-req...bwahahahahahahahahaahahahahaahaha...*sniff*...*sniff*...sry.

Seriously though in addition to AOE being borked, DOTs seem to be borked as well. I don't know if it's a "feature" but if we get incapped by a mob our DOT stops affecting it. So if I'm in a group and I set a MOB on fire then get incapped by the resulting AOE agro, the mob on fire stops taking fire damage even if my group is still goin. Starnick, can you comment on whether or not this is intended? Can you also comment on whether or not DOTs stack? Such as if I ama CM/Commando and I flame something then stick a CM dot on it will the two flame DOTS stack? I know the poison DOT stacks with the flame DOT.

Yeah back in the day commando was susposed to take so many skill points it was susposed to be a lot like jedi, a lifestyle and not just a profession. Commando was susposed to craft his own explosives, be good at hand to hand, and whip out the big guns to blow things up. And as the other fellow said, what was the purpose of making us give up master marksman if we HAVE to take another profession to have any specials or any attacks worth a d@mn?

IMHO Smugglers, Bounty hunters, and Commando's should be a lot more like jedi than say, a rifleman.

Oh, I'm happy I read this. It DID seem to me that all my area weapons did was aggro everything for miles and miles and miles and upset just about everybody I hunted with. And it also seemed my new carbines did a HECK of a log more damage than my commando weapons.

Any way can theymake it so KD STAYS KD'd and doesn't jump right up and never go down again, especially on a second hit from a RL? That's really annoying. Especially since the RL is the only single-target weapon we've got, slow and wimpy as it is atm.

CU has taken some getting used to, but it didn't take long before we're back in the swing in our Guild. The loners aren't really happy, true. The mobs are WAY too powerful. I made a new account/toon to try and get a handle on the CU from scratch. It's not a good balance that a gubbur oneCL below minehits twice to my once, both times for equal or more than I do with my weapon (Krayted SG82 -- I know, what a waste) and healing the damage takes two hits from the gubbur, which defeats the healing. Most CL 80s aren't really sanguine about hunting with a CL 12, so you've got to be able to solo stuf up to at least Novice Elite.

All told, I'll wait for the fixes of course. I just hope they DO fix things. I'm getting my 5-6K XP per kill with my hunt group so the FS grind is moving along. I kinda enjoy the particle effects. I wish my stuf did some serious damage though. I wish my HAR (poor, misbegotten HAR) didn't blind me no matter how far away I am. I wish grenades did more than give off a cool effect. I wish AoE wasn't something to be avoided at all costs.
