Lately this forum has been full of posts about "I can't level with the launcher pistol", "all heavy weapons do mass aggro", "I get kicked out of groups because of AOE weapons." Still more posts on how broken the profession is, master weapon not working, not living up to our 5 in damage.A while ago, I read a post by one of the old timer commandos saying "I sure feel bad for any noob commandos trying to level up, it's gonna be impossible."

Yet every time I log into my character on Starsider, I'm constantly reminded of a story my Marine friend once told me. Often times in basic training he was not given all the equipment needed to do his job. When he brought this up to his superiors, he was told "adapt and overcome Marine!" No phrase could better describe SWG Commandos. We are constantly ignored with regards to fixes and left to find our own ways tobe successful. Spend a little time with the Vode Inya guild on Starsider and you'll see that Commandos have found ways to overcome every setback, and become an amazingly strong profession. I've seen all commando hunting parties, using all (or mostly all) heavy weapons with no fear of aggro. We pull withheavy weapons, we apply states with heavy weapons, and we do our damage with heavy weaopns. I've been in groups that stand within 20m of the lair and fearlesslyblast away with launcher pistols, Rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and HPBCs. I remember hunting with non-commando groups and being told "If the puller aggros a bunch of creatures, just focus on the origional target and let the rest incap him, then they'll leave us alone." I enjoyed helping out when afellow commandoaggroed more than he could handle, I'd attack one of the full health creatures and pull it onto myself. Several other group members would do the same, all taking one or 2 of the creature upon themselves. We'd useroots, snares, and KDs to slow down their attacks long enough tohelp eachother out. When the explosions ceaced, and the smoke cleared, a group of damaged, but conscious commandos stood proud, surrounded by corpses. I believe no profession uderstands their inner workings like we do. Nobody has been able to overcome broken features like we have. We are not the best profession in the game, we are the best players.

So to all the commandos I say, learn your profession, learn how to overcome the setbacks, learn to optimize what you have, and learn to be among the best players in the game. Wear your commando tags with pride, and do not fear being kicked from groups. Remember that if a group won't let you in, it's because they don't undrstand how useful you really are.

With all this being said........ I still would like a "/Frag Group Member" Special to deal with pistoleers that root MOB's next to the lair

RC, that's exactly the point I've been trying, unsuccesfully (probably due to being overly agressive),to get acrossin one of the whiney threads. I'm honored to be in Vode Inya with you

Ye ai can overcome and adapt but i still get mad when a little rifleman does more damage than me a COMMANDO! Seriously SOE needs to look at our titles closey its like sayin a privite is better than a captain.

But yea we are one Kick A@# profession thats why i am here

I've power leveled the boys in PYRO a bit and their a great bunch. I have not always been commando but I have been for the past few months....and I doubt I will ever leave. I love to watch things burn.

Welcome to Starsider and I hope to see you in the trenches. Fire it up.

Oohh another bothan commando. Too bad it's not the same server

Anyway onto the topic. Personally. I love commando.

Also a point I've brought up multiple times to the naysayers to commando professions. Especially those who say they have no use in PvP. Now.. to be honest. One on one commando often winds up lacking in my personal experience but i've been in alot of large base defences/assaults now with my commando. And more and more i'm starting to see combos of things like MCom/Msmug especially popping up. They totally suck one on one because the defences of such a template. Are quite honestly horrible. BUT. They'll whip out a low level weapon with a large AOE like say the acid beam rifle and root hordes of people in one go.

One of the recent base defences I was at really made that one rather telling. I both hit, and got hit with mass roots. We'd stall whole walls of the enemy with just using say a rocket launcher and a root attack. Like wise some people on the other side had similar templates and we'd take pratctically no damage from an attack but suddenly 8 or more of us woudl be sporting a root from one attacker. Obviously commandos at work

I find this tends to work very much the same in PVE. I very much look forward to the day they finally get off their asses and fix the commando profession and -especially- AOE. Because I honestly do belive commandos will then more than earn that 5 point in damage dealing.
