Btw with another ranged profession, damage wise we're pretty good...but by ourselves or in a melee template (we are 24% melee...), our damage barely compares. As long as you have a good ranged profession with decent specials, and work with your AoE...only the broken AoE, grenades, can't power up PFT with pups, and lack of advanced weapons (rather than damage) will get you. Otherwise we work fine in PvP for the most part, but only with that other ranged prof to support our damage.
a few nights ago, i was messing witha character buider, and irecall noticing thata novice rifle man has more defense than a master commando.

After 1.5 years as a Master Commando... I dropped it.
I might reconsider it if it is fixed.. but after many... broken promises I doubt that will happen.
I have toyed with the idea of dropping Commando everytime the respec window pops up... but I can't do it. My temp is nowhere near "uber" but I have to say it's one of the most fun I've had. I will say I find myself using my ALR more often than my PFL or Proton rifle, but I don't think giving up those weapons for carbine or pistol skills would be an even trade <shrug>

How come its so Crap? I am cl74 Master COmmando and BH 3444 with Novice CM yet LV 60 TKM can Kill me. and alot others. I have totally SH** Defence!!!

PreCU Commando, while having plenty of problems, was still ALOT of fun to play. Its toys made up for its lack of accuracy, speed, and defenses.
PostCu Commando is a whole 'nother animal. We now longer have "unique" weapons. Our animations are generic. We have no REAL specials to call our own, despite some of our weapons have "specials" built in (i.e. KD, blind, etc). I suppose we are STILL a fun profession to play, but the lack of our PreCU uniqueness, and the absolute frustration of WHAT Commando now is, is overcoming that.
Most of us, are old school Commandos that refuse to drop it for the simple fact we are too damned stubborn.
Frankly, right now, we arent sure what we are. Rumor has it our "role" as put forward by the CU docs have changed, unfortunately, we cant get anyone to confirm or deny it. We cant even get a comment on it. Part of that "rumor" is that we are a toolbox/utility profession - other professions can shop us for mods (speed, accuracy, defense) and weapons.
Sadly, there doesnt seem to be any answers or attention coming our way. We havent had anyone come in and say "OK, whats the deal, Commandos? What are your issues?" Not even Nick, really...Usually, when a Corr posts such a thread, its because the powers that be asked behind closed doors for him/her to do it, and then report back to them with a consolidated list.
my problem with commando in the post cu world is all the tanking i do grouping to grind my fs and all the kids that come along not getting touched.3--6 cl80+ drawn with an area attack sends me to the cloner pretty quick and to the nearest armorsmith every time.(maybe i quit grouping and grind out with bh missions) oh thats right i don't have the defences to take an npc mission. what commando needs is with the master box is advance all specials we are suposed to do it all right? MBH get only advanced critical strike but impoved every thing else. just think advanced kd, blind, stun, root, we would be uber or more uber depending on temp this would aply to melee skills also.

For Starters, One would say that a MTK vs MCommando Pre-CU would have probobly been very 1sided, because you'd have to be within 17 meters to use a special, that gives the TK 2 meters they need to cross to use lunge, which would make you go prone, and then they'd make up the 10m to use DizzyKnock down and spam Dizzy on you untill you were incapped.
If we were all Elite, only the noobs would stand out.
-We need our specials to operate like every other profession's specials. Apart from, and not a part of their weapons.
-If not, then each and every commando weapon that has a "built in special" needs to be brought up to master commando strength and potentcy. No point in using a RL to KD someone when you have to spend the time swapping weapons. Or a flamethrower to do AOE dmg, or a Acid Rifle to blind. And their tier 1 or 2 weapons.
