It's not about which we love more, it's about which works. The answer is: Neither. I'm not saying that commando is total crap, I'm just saying that compared to all the other combat classes we get the short end of the stick. Being a commando should MEAN something when you go to fight.

Lets see, just off the top of my head...


BH: Advanced Critical, ranged KD, blind/stun/dizzy/bleed attacks, Spray Shot, Overcharge...Master level weapons (Improved Scatter Pistol, LLC) can be crafted with 65-85 SAC and 950-1150 damage


Carbineer: Improved Crippling, Improved Legshot, Improved Scatter Shot, Overcharge Shot, Placed Shot, Aimed Shot, various powerful AoE (100/100 damage) damage and state attacks...Master Level Weapons can be crafted at72 SAC with 1150ish max damage


Commando: Overcharge Shot...and...thats it...Master Level weapons can be crafted at 100 SAC with 1148 max damage. Other master level weapon is a loot item from one of the hardest NPC's in game. No profession specifc attacks...If a Commando wants to KD, they have to use a Rocket Launcher. If they want to blind, they have to usea HLBC (I think is what does it). Built in AoE (even if it worked) does 100/40 damage...

Lets see, just off the top of my head...

Exactly, the entire foundation of the commando profession, post CU is just wrong. At first we all gave it a shot because we believed the devs when they said that the CU is just the first step and that fixes and tweaks for everything combat related would follow. It hasn't and I have the broken profession to prove it. It's not a total waste, as I love my proton rifle and my plasma flamethrower, but if anyone thinks this profession is on par with ANY other profession, then they're smoking the crack.

there it is, looks good on paper but not functional in game. any idea when we're even going to be look at?

Nope.


They wont give timelines on fixes/attention anymore. And from the looks of things, Commando is a very, very, very low priority for them.

If they added a mod at the master level that increased our damage output with commando weapons, I think youd see a world of differance. I like that this professions is different from all the rest. I like the idea that not everyone is a commando (like everyone is a cm). I realize that the way the professions have been set up post cu is that we are not ment to have just one professions. I think the idea is that there would be people who would go with a combat profession like rifleman and combine it with ranger, which would give no additional real combat skills yet combined with rifleman (or pistoleer/carbineer) they'd be able to hold their own. If someone wanted to go pure combat, they'd go rifleman/carbs/pistoleer and combine it with BH (to hunt Jedi) or commando (to be a good damage dealer). The problem is, we really aren't that great damage dealers. As pointed out in a earlier post, rifles and carbs can be crafted with higher damage that heavy weapons. Add a skill mod to all commando boxes and a big skill mod at master that will increast our damage output and I think you might see us alittle happier.

I'd like to add a bit more perspective to this. I was forced to take a long break from the game. Before I left, my Master Commando/TK, in PvP AND in PVE, was unstoppable. With a full set of Master Doc buffs, I could clear the Tusken fort all by myself. Single shot kills in PvP were common, especially with a 4k damage hit from my FT. Tactics were fairly simple.. melee a bit, flame it down. Granted, the AR was piece of crap, but I had everything else going.


When I finally got a chance to play over the weekend, I couldn't believe what happened. I couldn't kill anything. Stormtroopers, Ragtags.. they just laughed at me. There doesn't seem to be any effective moves for Commandos anymore.


Before this upgrade I keep hearing about, we had a few issues that needed fixed, but overall, it was a good profession to play. But now, it's even worse than being a warrior in EQ. It's become the laughing stock of the game. We have no effective weapons, our role has been changed to "utility", and it's almost embarassing to play.


I was in the beta test, clamoring to the very end that the game wasn't ready. I actually got to test the heavy weapons 2-3 days before launch. It was depressing, but I figured they would fix it soon. They did, but now they go and tear it all apart. I've always been a Commando, even then. When the game launched, I busted my butt to get back to Novice. I enjoyed the fixes when they came in and took pride in doing 35k damage with a single shot. But unless this gets fixed, I'm going to change over to being a pilot.


Please.. fix the Commandos and make us into the elite profession we should be, not the "utility" class that has a minimal impact on the game.
