This gamelooks more like what I want my commando to be like. And yes I am going to buy it also but I would love it if some of the design aspects could be brought to SWG.

The game was awesome, bit to short for my taste though...blasted through it in under 10 hours

Ok folks, heres what intended:

Commando is suppoused to have lots of utility, basically like the Republic Commandos (they're very versitile).

However, that of course isn't fully working in the game. The dev's vision for commando runs along those lines, we just need the full implentation. I got a response concerning this (you guessed it, the Fanfest & Commando thread)...it doesn't shed an awful amount of light on our situation, but it does shed what the devs consider commando in the game. Now, we have our focus...utility capability.

Working on getting permission for a direct quote, as well as further answers...

I was listening to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (if you're not familar, its a musical piece based on the Napalonic War, where France was beating Russia horribly with its Grand Army, to only be eventually pushed back and decisevely defeated by the Russian Winter and Army - wonderful piece that would make as a great background music for a commando movie...), when I checked dev tracker...nearly causing me to fall out of me chair.

More on this as I can get it.

Yeah...we know our identity for the most part and what to strive for, in juxtaposition to what the dev's vision is...information on fixes? Acknowledgement on what ails us? Nada, thought we do have reassurances that they do see and note most of what we put forth on the table...I hope so, and I hope we can be pleasantly surprised.

Oh yeah... one comment on the Utility thing... if that is how the devs meant it, why do we not have the Utility icon option? I know that is knit picking, but I find that a little ironic. BH's get it, but we don't. I think SL has it as well.

Lol, good question. We seem to get the utility (as they put it "lots") through our grenades as well as our weapons. However, because our weapons are CL based as well, this puts us in a rather difficult situation...

So it may not be utility in that sense where we help a group or we tank, we may be utility in the sense that we have options of mass destruction.../shrug

As for our problem with utility, I asked about Ackehace's idea (with the addition of a sort of diminishing enhancement, where all our weapons from a LP to a ASL will, at master, be equilvent to a CL 50-54 master commando weapon...including our grenades, which would compliment the focus of utility PERFECTLY)

I hope so too... I find it a little disheartening when I see that a post I responded to yesterday is still on our front page (the one about the Cyborg arm with +20 to thrown). Looks like we have even less people posting in our forums. Lots of good people are leaving the prof and many more picking us up for the crowd control utility. I mean my only Commando I have left out of the three I had is a crowd controller specialist (MComm/MSmugg w/ 4/4/0/4 PIstoleer), but if we ever get fixed... I'll end up retempletingI am sure.

I just hope that our mainstays haven't all left by the time they get around to making changes. I would wager we are now inline behind Smuggler, Rangers, and Squad Leaders due for a revamp (good news is smuggler changes are soon to start popping in I hear). That could very well be a long wait.

Ackehece's idea was fundamentally straight utility which I didn't respond to, but found it very intriguing. The more I look it over the more I like it to be honest. Keeps us able to use all of our weapons, adds bonuses for mastery, keeps dabblers from being able to take a line to overpower our weapons, and puts a use for everything. Was reall glad he/she took the time to write that up and throw it in here to help out a fellow Corr on getting new ideas from a different prof's view. Class act post there.

ok well if the devs think we should be like Republic Commando (also a good, short game, dont play the multiplayer) look at us as dead center in that diagram they drew. we should be versitile and by that being a jack-of-all-trades. that gun (name eludes me) that was ur main wepon in that game was a perfect example. it was an assault rifle, a rocket launcher, and a sniper rifle all in one. swiss army knife of guns. so shoudl we be that. we shoudl be able to nuke like a rifleman, tank like a TKM, and maybe even do a little mezzing with "glop nades" that actually root. add in a little bit of leadership that u had in Commandos and u might have what we could be. granted we will not be as good as any of these professions, btu able to fill teh role where there is a vacancy. having that Republic Commando gun is the perfect example. teh rifleman's sniper, bh's assault rifle, and our old-school rocket launcher. every major MMo has pretty much had this profession which is the typical shaman. we are the SWG modernized shaman.

that woudl defidently bring me back full force even if i had to regrind commando again.
