Thread: Offical Word on the DoT Stick Change...

Ok...I did some prying to find out what I could regarding our Flame DoT not sticking as much on TC....


What I found out is that YES it is true and YES it was on purpose...but it's all DoTs...not just ours...I could try and explain it to you, but let me post how it was explained to me by Kel...






Yes, there was an unintentional change to the way Fire and Bleeding DoTs stick.

The change to the DoT resistance system affected all DoTs including Fire and Bleed DoTs. In the long run I believe that this is a good thing because that opens the possibility forinteresting fire & bleed resist items that can be easily added without having to deal with the same problem all over again. In fact there are already some Bleed resist items that will become more useful because of this.


However, that being said, I never intended to reduce the effectiveness of Commandos. So what I'll do is step up the default potency for Fire making it harder to resist without resistance items. There will still be the 5% resist cap which means Fire will no longer be completely unresistable but that should have a significant impact on your power.


It's unlikely that you'll see this change before the end of the weekend, but I promise what is currently running on TC will not be how it goes Live.

So as you can see, there was never any intention of hurting us...in fact, it was very unintentional and Kel is going to try an make sure that the effect on us is minimal...The reason for the change makes sense overall...but personally I feel it's just bad timing before other needed fixes go in...but if we have to suffer it, at least Kel is going to make the effect less on us...

Hopefully it will actually be implemented like he said. It still hurts, but not nearly as much. Thanks for the info Garvin.

Prolly unintentional as they made it where MCM poision throws won't always hit their targets...


...thus affecting us...


Perhaps this is good...now we wont get the "but you have your dot" maybe now, since our DoT won't be fullproof anymore (still a chance it won't stick) we'll actually move away from being the profession that has the fire dot...to the profession that has a real purpose (and big guns )

So...in simple terms:


They are nerfing all DoT's, but nerfing the Commando DoT's slightly less?

unintentional to me always meant it was an accident not meant to be done.

so it was a mistake but rather then fix it they'll make it minimal thats complete bullsh!t

well we nerfed thier dot to damn near uselessness i know lets make it so it dont stick as much. hahaha

WHY DOES THIS GAME WANT ME TO QUIT IN IT???


sorry for caps, but man..... they ask us "what can we do to ease your pain until combat revamp?" (remeber the post gavin started asking us what might be good ideas for him to report)... then just when it seems we can't get any worse.. we get worse!!!!


I know we are gona be that little bit less nerfed... but... who said your gona even hit them once b4 your dead to stick a DoT on anyway??? huh tell me that??? with the NCP's even harder... (so we are no longer even wanted in PVE) and our effectiveness ignored again... I feel real hate for the devs now. All i wanted was to be a commnado that could hold his own in a fight.. i mean isn't that what a commando does?


Arrrrr they can do as they please... but if they cross the my line.. i won't think twice about taking my money else where.

i say give commandos all there points to put in another profession and remove it from the game quit messing around allready!!


so what do we have now a FT that wont light someone on fire thats 4 out of 4 borked trees!!


i use to enjoy commando now it just frustrates me!

With my current template the only time I find I have issues is against CMs and anyone with medic, other than that I can get a good fight out of anybody. I am figuring a few things out though. Having weapons modded for accuracy is a huge deal as a commando. Most people are smart enough to stay out of FT range but when you pull a HPBC out and actually hit them through composite for 500+ ever couple of seconds they start to wonder which is better, being in range of the FT or not. Maybe its just me though with the right heavey weapons in PvP we can actually stand a chance. And now with my new accurate grenades I am starting to feel more comfortable in PvP. I can also honestly say I understand why the Devs do not want to give us AP1 on the FT. We would flat out just hit too hard with it. While it would bring our DPS up to what a master carbineer is in PvP I think some one getting hit for close 600-700 points of damage in PvP would just freak people out. Just like when a CM hits us and we see a tick for 600-700 we freak, the same thing would happen to them. I hit someone through armor today for over 400 points with my FT. Seeing that much HAM disappear in 1 shot tends to freak people out and they start calling for nerfs. Now maybe the person I was fighting didn't have great armor but I am sure it had to be at least 60%.
