wow. Great idea!

Well, everything you want to put in sounds great to me. The only thing I would add is that I would like to see a Commando Strategy Corner. Here, people can post guides or links to Commando profession based strategies for (a) profession advancement (grinding), (b) making it through specific dungeons/quests, (c) PvP content (tips, insight, etc) and (d) link to other sites that have Bestiaries, etc.

1. Personally I think its a great idea. I would love to see an article/info section where we could submit info (tactices, template ideas, weapon usage, macros, ideas, etc.). The ability to add photos/videos is great.

2. As far as the chat goes, it would be AWESOME if we could have this only to meet once every week (or 2 weeks) and discuss ideas, comments, concerns, etc. (I understand time zone and others dificulties, but at least giving it a try would be nice.)

3. I would love if there were a "Sandbox" section where you and those who are in the sandbox could update us on the progress and concerns of what is going on there.

4. Another section that would be updated every week with the ONE topic you would like us commandos to specifically test and or comment on.

5. Another section that would state our top 5, or 10, issues with our profession. If it were possible to vote on these issues once a week, so that it would reflect what commandos currently think there top issue is.

6. Another section with the top 5 things we would like added to our profession (and the game).

7. A newb section that would help out those who are new to commando, and hopefully be an easy way for new commandos to find answer quickly.

8. A section with info on high level mobs with low resitance to heat, blast, maybe acid (but I need my HEAVY acid rifle fixed).

9. A section with a brief history of commandos in SWG (from the days when the LP gave pistol XP, the rise and fall of our DoT, etc. til present). This can be continually updated.

I'll try to post more later . . .

Sounds like a good idea Garvin. I know in alot of other games someone tends to always set up a site for thier chosen class/profession. And who better to do it than you being the true "Master Commando" and a web developer to boot.

I do agree live chat probably wouldn't get used much. Posting an announcement for something like an IRC chat might work if there is something that would best be discussed live.

Screenshots/Videos would rock as long as you have the space to store them or links to where they are hosted would work also. (I have a feeling alot of us are commandos because we like the pretty effects *grin*)

And of course the "Compendium of Commando Knowledge" (I don't feel like looking up the code for the TM but you can use that name if you like it *big grin*)A site like you propose would be the perfect place for weapons and skill analysis. This would be a great place for guides and tips also.

And of course the obligatory links to anything that would be of interest to the commando community. One suggestion on that is to have links to site dealing with real life commandos and sites to any info about commandos in the SW cannon for people that love to RP thier high-explosive toting characters.

Maybe after the combat balance we could all pitch in and work up a report on how commando compares to other professions and which of those professions would compliment commando and how?

Sounds like a great idea Garvin. I don't know more than a line or two worth of HTML but I'd be glad to help anyway you could find for me.

I'm sadly no longer a commando (going jedi), but if you need webspace I have a site that is far from full (unless you plan on making this thing like 30MB).

Your my BOY GARVIN, you know that, your my boy!

What I would like in the site is some of the other facts when comparing Commando to other Professions and what not. If you don't want it to replace the SWG forums just keep the site as more ofa "Commando Stomping Ground's" where we can use the site for referrance on statagy, perhaps even get in touch with Commando's of the same galaxy to go take on some High End mobs.......hey even make it the SWG Commando Guild for all Commando's of All Galaxies! I like the idea.

That's for the offer Evelas...Currently I have my own server that I run about 7 sites off of...I should have enough space to host it as I don't think, at least at first, that it will be that huge...depends on what people want and how much I make database driven (probably with a PHP frontend and an SQL backend for techno nuts out there)...

I haven't ruled out going with a PHPNuke.org format, and if I do, that does cause quite a server drain, but I think i have it covered...

I'm just checking on SOE policy now to see if they would be against me setting up this site (not because it's SWG related, but because I'm a Correspondent and we have certain things that are prefered and not preferred for us to do in the position).

How about some pics from the sand-box. When it is up and with SOE permission of course. Might be a good way to have the testers post there findings as well.

The only problem we might run into here is the same issue some folks are having with JTL...To be involved in that type of testing you have to sign an NDA...they may do the same for the Sandbox (I hope not). The reason they may do the same is some folks might get upset if certain numbers or weapons get released while on the sandbox, then they get NERF'd or removed before hitting live...so prevent this, they may be very cautious about what they let the Sandbox testers share and not share, including screen prints...

We'll have to wait and see...

hmmm....Docs, JTL beta, work & release, Sandboxes, moretesting, balancing, adjusting, test center, publish...Why do I get the feeling that we are quite a long ways away from the Combat Rebalance? JTL has a projected release date (according to unreliable EB Games and Gamespot) on 10/26...assuming that they release this then, we could expect at least a month of Sandbox testing after JTL release, then more tweaking, then a couple of weeks of test center...My goodness, we're running into mid to late December now!!! Ugh.

Edit: At this point, good news would be an announcement that the Devs can work on Sandbox testing while others work on JTL to push Combat Rebalance release alittle sooner.
