So I did the unthinkable a couple months back and 'tried' World of Warcraft thinking it wouldn't stick as I had too much invested in SWG but since I put the CD in I haven't loaded SWG again. However I haven't cancelled my SWG account b/c I knew we had been talking about this fairy tale of a CU coming one day that I might wanna keep my account going for. Over the last couple weeks as more and more info has poured in about the CU and commandoes specifically, I have kept up to date and I am sitting here getting excited about trying it out. It's been a long time since SWG has done that. I know there has been a lot of turnoffs to some of the new mechanics and while I would be in the same boat if I hadn't played WoW, I can tell you these are very exciting. It's a change but much for the better. Grouping will be fun again which is one of the best things about WoW. I wont be quitting WoW but I will be splitting my time once the CU is out. This post has no real point other than to say that this vet (2 months away since beta doesn't rob me of my title just yet
) is stoked about the changed and I'll be glad to get to play commando again, which is the class that I fell in love with at launch way back in the beginning.
For those who haven't gotten distracted (like me) and kept pestering the devs, thanks for helping guide the devs to what sounds like a prof that's going to be a blast to play (thanks to Helios too, he sounds like he's been a giant help and I love all the info posts).
And done...

Welcome Back! I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of familiar names returning to the fold over the next few months...
And on a side note...some of us play BOTH WoW and SWG...I'm Garvin in both games...I find that WoW helps me mantain my sanity, as well as helps me not be bored with either game (if I start getting burned out on one, I go play the other)...

I play WoW too, on Silvermoon.
I like to split my time between the two to ease the boardom. The big thing I like about WoW is the quest system. It constantly has you thinking and moving from place to place. Not to mention, questing is the main source of lvl grinding.
Its just a pitty that SWG didnt have that sort of questing variation.

Yeah, after playing WoW I see how fun and involving instances and questing can be. If that could be implemented into SWG, it would raise the game to whole new level imo. On the flipside, I miss the amazing customization options you have for your charachter in SWG (it is still unmatched) and the whole building of a city and housing options. World of Star Wars..? heh

didnt u hear they are getting rid of that quality
the next expansion is gonna be called:
Star Wars Galaxies: We Tried....but Nerfing is Alot of Fun
from what i hear Chef is gonna be mayortheuberness and Bio Engineer get to hunt them and the chefs get cakes that they can throw but Bio Engineer can make Nunas that will be suicidal and jump in the way of the cake

That statement right there explains all the negativity in the SWG forums. People have gotten used to playing a severely wounded combat system and dont know any better. but when you play other MMO's you realize just how messed up SWG's old combat system is and can understand why devs changed so many things in the CU.

Yeah, but if CL was tweaked to make skill mods have more dominance, or at the very least got rid of the damage modifiers...then we'd be EVEN BETTER!
Btw, welcome back =) I hope some of the folks that were in my guild start coming back...one still has 6 tents up that we need to get rid of, and another still owes me 5 credits

Yes, the level damage multiplier is my biggest problem I see in the CU. I think the devs are trying to control PvE way too much and have gone overboard.

I think that's proably because saying screw you SoE I'm going to EQ2 doesnt really make alot of sense...
I left SWG for EQ2, but I've played 'em both. IMO EQ2 PvE cant be touched... WoW is alot of fun too but the only reason I played it was PvP. Then SoE added SWG to the All Access Pass (which I already had) so I dumped WoW to get my PvP fix here... Guess I'm part of the minority that left WoW for SWG

EQ2 pwns in PvE... but my Star Wars Fan, couldn't let go of SWG though... it just... I'm not addicted to SWG, but I am addicted to EQ2. If there's one thing I don't like about the CU testing... it's bwing a lowely noob who has to grind solo... soloing sucks... I can't stand soloing... though... I wish SWG hasd some Voice Overs like EQ2 but that's never going to happen...

Well, you're in luck: you don't have to grind anymore on TC-Ep3. You just go to the frog, tell it what skills you want, and you automatically get them. Then you can go out and test them to your heart's conent. Trust me, I wouldn't be doing any testing myself if I had to grind - I hate grinding witha passion.
