As far as the other defense abilities, not completely sure...There are RUMORS that defense stacking will be altered with the Combat Rebalance...some have even suggested that stacking will no longer work across any profession for any defenses...this is ONLY a rumor and not confirmed...I've seen it come up and I've fought against that idea (what's the point of dabbling if you can't benefit from it)...
That is pretty narrow minded imo. This is the main reason that MBH are so weak in PvP. Most people with the ability to dabble get stacked bonuses. This only benefits proffesions with low skill point costs.
The benefit of dablingshould be the ability to attack with more damage types and/or increasing your ability to switch from a ranged damage dealer to a melee tanker, NOTbecome a more powerful combatant.ie. Versitilaty is the goal rather than greater combatability. It is also the main reason why a crafter/combatantssuffer at and combat.
Stackable defense is the most unbalancing aspects of SWG imo. It is the same sort of arguement that crafters had against the forcesensitve crafting bonuses. If having two classes increases the ability of both classes you have,it forces people into narrow class templates in order to stay competive, rather than being free form, asSWG is advertized.

I think they should do what they did with CH: Spread the bonuses across the skillboxes.

There is an easy way to fix this issue... let the dabblers dabble, but give major bonuses when at master. Currently I can only think of a couple of professions, TKM, that give major bonuses at master level. Once you do this, then the masters of the profession should be at least comparable to the Defense stackers. You should be able to dabble a little to pick up like medic or scout for some minor abilities, but I dont think that there should be a "dabbling profession" which is the case in SWG right now. I know people who are quite good at PvP with maybe one mastered profession. I know others that are just as good with none mastered. I think that is a travesty.
