Thread: Can Commando's solo Krayt Dragons?
As above?...with a full buff?
With mask scent you could probably knock out a flamecone2 and flamesingle2 before being incapped once...then a quick heal and wait for the DOT's to wear off and do it again...
Thats my theory anyway...ive only tackled once before and it was to help out some guildmates who were taking one down. They had done 50k of damage over 45 mins and I came along and had it down in 10 mins after 1 cloning (I was unbuffed).
Do Master commando's regularly do this or am I overestimating our power?
Not a Canyon Krayt, they're just way too strong. Plus Krayts agro/DB the second you flame them (within 17 meters). What I do is get a CH friend to send in pets, then I stand 48ish meters away, pull out a rocket launcher, kneel, and blast the crap out of it. 25-30 shots will kill it, though you'll have to heal yourself once or twice.
I should know, I took a few out while half my group was incapped, and the rest were running around in circles screaming "medic!"
Die, clone, run back..
Die, clone, run back..
Do these things and you have a fool proof Krayt soloing system. ![]()
any one can solo 2 at the same time lol just takes about 5 deaths to get the 2 fighting and onec they start fighting its to the death takes a long time but in the end you win lol
When people say solo'ing, I think, and I could be wrong, without dying...If you die, you were obviously not capable of actually solo'ing the creature...The idea of soloing is to attack something and beat it before it beats you...if you die and run back, you've lost already...at that point it's just about the harvest and / or xp...not about soloing.
And as for the answer, can we solo a Krayt Dragon? I hope not...it would be a bad statement against our profession if we could and many would use it as evidence against us for being over-powered.
Some people feel that everything in the game should be "solo" capable...I disagree...there should be plenty of things out there for us to solo, but what would the point be of creating a social atmosphere game if everything was able to take down solo...wouldn't that lead group hunts to be a waste of time?
Good post.
I went looking for a Krayt last night...found a pack of a Canyon and 2 or 3 juvenille canyons...
One of the juves wandered away from the pack and I was incapped pretty quickly after getting shots off...dont think I was buffed, was just testing it.
So if any commando can do it, its definitly not me...although you lot are probably going to say that juves are easy. I was buffed...but for some reason forgot to put my helmet on and was incapped in Mind in no time...oops.

He meant one, not two!
And no, you can't always get the two, as its usually a powerful one vs a weak one. Weak one dies, then you die.

Actually I think he meant 2....there is a known trick (might actually be a bug in the AI) that certain NPC's can be tricked into fighting each other...Krayts are this way apparently...If you shoot one of them, feign death or get a peace to work, then shoot the other, feign death or peace, occasionally they will go aggro on each other instead of the original attacker...Then what these people do is sit back and shoot the weaker one while the attention is diverted...only problem is, when getting close to place a DoT you can still suffer blast area damage and you have a chance of the attention coming back to you by both...
Using this method, while not the most honorable method (since they do all the damage for you), actually makes it easier to take out 2 Krayts then it would be to take out one. Using this method also is very attractive to Kill Stealers as they will see 2 krayts fighting each other and only one person standing near by...they will jump in and try to outdamage you...so again, your taking your chances with this method of hunting...

method, I think it may be aconsidered an exploit now, in reference to other circumstances. Please read my post in the GCW forum entitled "Can a normal aspect of gameplay be an exploit?" for a full explination of my circumstnace. Careful guys, don't get caught, you might be deemed a bad person

Actually, I don't think its a bug. There are certian creatures that seem to naturally agro onto weaker ones. Look at rancors. As soon as a baby spawns, they attack and kill it. If you are 64m back and hit an enraged or mutant with a rocket launcher the spawn agros onto that one. I have seen the same thing with some of the lizards and some birds on various planets.
