Well, I say Bounty Hunter is more fun if you don't want to do high level things, but paired with pistoleer, rifleman, carbineer, or some other profession, it can be terrific. I hear Flame Single 2 does high damage, but that is the only thing I see in commando. I never use the LLC anymore, except if left my armor on after my buffs died, and I fight something around 10k HAM and can't afford to use specials. Carbines: Fire Knockdown is a great move, KD and Dizzy in 1 shot, Confusion Shot can apply 3 states, and there is another good carbine special, I just don't remember it. Pistols has eye-shot (very helpful for PvP), torso shot, and bleed shot, plus a MBH special, but that special is pointless.

Oh, and Jedi hunting is amazingly fun if you find a Jedi that won't wine.

commando is master of PVE and the flame, we can burn anything. a well designed and played commando can do anything on the PVE side of the fence.
bounty hunter= PVP
Commando= PVE

I do way more PvE than PvP and for a while (before BH reqs changed I was 0444 BH and alot of Pistoleer. Speed spamming /eyeshot and taking rancors down in really quick time was fun. Who needs armor when you are so stacked on speed and damage?
Basically if you take commando you do alot of damage on alot of targets, but if one guy gets in you are screwed. BH does alot of damage on a single target (and you can play with their states using yourcarbine).
I decided to kep BH since I'm a MBH/MSL because Ifigure I'm leading the group and I won't be the heavy hitter, but if somebody getspassed my boys, I want to be able to take that one guy out, and or 1 on 1, BH works very well.
Warning though the INV line of BH is a huge commitment, and in non grind time will take a god amount of time to do.

you just need to add a little tk 0004 into the commando template and you dont need a seperate tank.

Well you wouldn't be so tough without TK.
My point was that straight BH vs straight Commando BH deals better one on one.

True, Bh specializes in straight one on one.
i cant argue that!
but i did want to point out that a well thought out & designed commando doesnt have to be gimped for defense.
Fun of BH: hunting jedi and good 1 on 1. Specialty PVP.
Fun of Commando: Hunting creatures and good 1 on many. Speciality PVE.
equal, yet totally different.

Yes, but the 3-4k damage is slow, and I can do at least 1k damage with master pistoleer doing health shot 2 (novice pistoleer special) at 1 per second, and if you can speed cap rifleman or carbineer, the only good thing about the flamethrower is the DoT... IMO.

yeah, butused right you can stack about 16 dots.
4 flamers x 4 dots eatch = kill anything.
yes, you can stack DOTs from multiple flamers.
eatch dot does 800 to 2.6k of damage.
if you can stay alive long enough to stack 16 dots, you win.
nuff said.

Ok, here is some first hand advice. I am a bounty hunter, and I am oooooo so close to master. Bounty Hunter is a difficult and grueling grind, and Investigation is the most painful type of exp in the game to grind. I would honestly rather grind 1m Survival exp than ever have to grind inv again. Bounty Hunter is by far the most nerfed calss in the game, we are the worst pvp left in the game. If it werent for eye shot and torso shot, we would be in a world of hurt. On the up side, Bounty Hunter can be very rewarding. The thrill of a successful player bounty is unmatched by anything else in this game. (even though you will usually just find your mark inside a locked house 
). And with the combat revamp supposedly around the corner, who knows how benificail the rest of the class will be. Jedi missions are fixed now btw, and can be as high as 300k payout, if you can actually hit your mark.

Are you mastering an elite class for the soul purpose of being able to obliterate things? Ifso, commando is for you my friend.Or do you want to take your own inginuity and tactics to a higher levle than just buff, shoot and run, and take on other players within the game? (Remember, Sumggler bounties are on the list of additions after theJTL release.)
Ok, ok,I know this sounds a little propagandish, but what can I say, I'm a little partial.
*edit* Oh, and btw, If you decide to go BH, Pick up novice commando anyway, so you can use the launcher pistol and flamer to help you get your Heavy Weapons exp for the llc line.
