Good to have you on board! One suggestion that I would like you to keep in mind as you rev the correspondent program back up is expanding it. 1 per profession was enough for the program as originally envisioned when all that was necessary was to read the one profession board every few days and file a report every week or two. Now that the duties have expanded to include their own private forum and testing responsibilities, I think each profession needs at least two and preferably three. If this is a main conduit of information then it will have problems when people go on vacation or just otherwise get busy with real life (not sure what that is but I keep hearing rumors about it though). This is especially true on the test server part of the job and in light of the fact that several professions have had their correspondent just up and suddenly disappear.

Something to chew on.

Your enthusiasm is obvious. I wish you the best, thank you for your dedication and interest, and hope the enthusiasm can continue. You're gonna take a lot of heat now that you're a "red name", but keep the faith and stay focused. Let the negative non-constructive stuff roll off your back, but never forget what it's like to be the customer yourself.

Welcome!

I do not support the NGE, but I do support the game and those trying to make it better.

Thunderheart, I think most all of us are glad to have a representative with your background. A couple things that come to mind from reading your post:

  1. I'm sure many of us would be starstruck by meeting the dev's, but I think for your position, it would really help if you tried to maintain your position as 'outsider,' rather than trying to get too far inside. We've already had a lot of insider interaction here, and it hasn't worked out that well, which is likely the reason you were hired.

  2. Don't stop being mean. Well, maybe the actual meanness doesn't help, but the really critical perspective on the game is invaluable, and something that I don't suspect the dev's could easily be in touch with. One character servers was a terrible decision, and so are many others that the dev's have made since; I hope you'll be the one to tell them in person now.

  3. Some things aren't ok anymore. I was in beta too, and I well remember the cries of those who insisted "this is beta!!!" when confronted with any criticism of the game. Now, over three months in, many of the issues we brought up in beta still aren't fixed, and many more have come up. Progress has been made, but not enough. This ain't just me:a recent review update by GameSpy noted that, while the game is more stable, whole professions remain hopelessly bugged and imbalanced. It's too late for this to be the case, and I hope you'll be able to communicate some of the outrage players have at the huge imbalancesthat still exist. Two friends of mine who had been planning to buy the game decided not to after reading the GameSpy article.

  4. Keep playing the game! I'm always struck at how foreign in-game issues seem to the dev's, and none of the CSR's I've spoken with know anything about the game. This leads to an environment in which we feel we're being 'handled' instead of listened to, and my greatest fear is that you will become part of the handling process, rather than an advocate for the community. I think staying in the game, and playing different kinds of characters, will help keep your feet on the ground, and allow you to feel the magnitude of various issues first hand.

That's all I've got. Welcome aboard!

G'mornin

Very glad to have you here th. We need ya!

Thanks =) I got to work early this morning so I could start laying out a bunch of stuff.

I will post as much as I can, but for this week, I have a LOT of reading and typing to do!

There and back again,A Hobbits tale by Bilbo Thunderheart.( i couldnt resist)

Now all I have to do is not let the ring drive me crazy

I think this is the greatest thing that has happened to SWG since Beta. Good luck, TH, and may the Force be with you.

And with you too

I saw that you used to call Chilastra your home. If your house went poof there and you need another one just let me know. I can give you a great deal!!

I might take you up on that! I think the coolest thing I had in the house were a couple of hand crafted book cases. Now, you might not think bookcases are exciting, but the book cases I had read:

"History of the Clone Wars by B. Kenobi"

and

"The Repair and Maintenance of Starships by H. Solo"

I think I still have an email from the crafter...I'll have to look him up!

Again, congrats TH

Thanks Wedfan and to everyone who congratulated me!

Yeah, sometimes it amazes me that we've all been doing this for so long...its become our virtual home

This will be the turning point in SWG. Finially someone who actually, deeply, CARES, for this game, and its community, is in a posistion of power! This is a great day for SWG!

One thing I have to share with you is the fact that everyone on this side of the fence cares about this game and how it turns out. Yesterday, I was talking to Cinco and he tells me, "yeah, you really have to have a deep love for video game design to really make it" and he is right. This is just my first few steps into the video game industry and let me tell you, these guys work very hard and care very much about the game.

Go see the statue of SRV

1. Go see the statue of SRV: DONE!

2. Eat at Texadelphia (mustard blend!) - ummm...what am I gonna eat? Just mustard?

3. drink a Shiner!: Whats a shiner?

*sets up trap*

*sniffs and reaches for the hanging burritos*

Welcome to Austin.

Thanks! I love it here~!

Hiring TH, someone whois one ofUS,means they aren't the idiots a lot of us claim them to be, and it is indeed proof that things are bound to get a lot better

Thanks Vortexala I appreciate the support for me and the team!

Heheh, I remember that post. I reprimanded you for being so hard on him.

Apparently that was very good advice!

Holy cow...who'd think you'd be a dev one day......

I sure didnt!

It happened _really_ fast!

Im sorry about any mean posts I might've directed to you...

No worries! I have a thick skin

SO uh.... buddy......how do'ya get FS?......

so how about it...eh?

*nudge nudge wink wink*

Funny story

My original plan was to COMPLETELY seperate myself from any Jedi information because I wanted to be able to maintain my empathy with you guys on the whole Jedi thing, but after I suggested it, they said that wasn't gonna happen (because I need to know so that I can effectively talk about the issues) and then he just rattled off "the secret forumula"!

...but thats all I can tell you...

I was really surprised at the answer though!

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Just dont start calling me Mr. Kotter!

Probably you don't remember anything I just said. Hehe...

Sure I do

*I* liked the original art, but thats just me - - all good art is in a state of constant evolution...

Like this game

But I'm glad to see that you became the newest "shoot him" er, "get him" hum I mean

*sounds like D. Duck*

SHOOT ME NOW! SHOOT ME NOW!

Congratulations and don't forget us

I wont! Its my sole reason for being here!

I can't stand seeing my client downloading a patch or update, and not having a clue what it is for until two days later. THIS has got to change.

Actually, one of the first things I have been tasked with is to start writing the patch notes!

Good to have you on board! One suggestion that I would like you to keep in mind as you rev the correspondent program back up is expanding it.

YEP! Thats right after I get up to speed on patch notes. I'll be digging in deep into the Correspondent program!

Oh yea and .... SMORF!

SMORF!

Sheesh, about time. Now get to work, ya lousy bum.

Alright already!

As you may have guessed, Im getting swamped on all communication channels. Please be patient.

Just a few things as far as expectations go:

* I am going to try and answer as much as I can, as often as I can.

* I will start posting a kind of "progress report" so you know whats going on, but you have to give me a week or so to get past the learning curve and get into the swing of things.

* If I DONT answer something, it means I am utterly swamped with information and I'll get to it as soon as possible. I am still thinking about all the ways I can answer thousands and thousands of questions and delivering those answers to hundreds of thousands of people.

Stick with me here. I'll do you all proud as best as I can.

Take care,
