Thread: Some Friendly Testing Advice for TH and other Devs...You'll quickly change your mind!
/cry /cry /cry We love to be un comparable to all other fighting professions ... please don't lower us to the same level as all other fighting professions. We like our ability to DoT all our enemies and there by killing them with one shot always
Words cannot express how uninformed you are. Don't come into a forum and make a post like this without getting some information on the issue first. I won't go into any details, because its not worth my time...

No. How about you 'Get real'. Nerd!
All your "assumptions" couldnt be further from the truth. How would you know, your probably not even a dabbler commando. What makes you presume to know anyhting about something which, from your "well informed" post, you obviously know nothing about. Stop wasting server space by spamming your ignorant crap in here.
The nerfs coming to Commando isn't really what's bothering me. Taking away from DoT Stacking and nerfing the Flame DoT doesn't bother me. The thing that bothers me is that it's taking away from the only working line in the profession. The Flame Tree is quite honestly the only tree that's worth getting in Commando.
It bothers me that the Devs would rather Nerf the only working line in a profession than fix the profession and balance it out. If the HAR was usable in PvP and PvE, if the Heavy Weapons were accurate, if the Grenades were useful, then and only then I would justify the Flame DoT and the other DoT nerfs.
Personally I wish that the Devs would recruite 5 or so of the more active open minded Members from each community. Together they could come up with ways to fix and improve the professions.
Instead, the Devs just "cut the fat" off of professions based on the crying of other professions. I honestly don't think the devs play this game. They may do limited in-game testing with some things (hence TH's Commando test), but they do not do their tests very well (Hence TH did Commando Vs. Commando instead of Commando vs. TK, Commando vs. Pistoleer, and so on).
If they recruite the more active open minded members of the communitee to help with the input of fixes, the balencing, and the expansion of professions, there would be a hell of a lot less complaining.
Now what I think should be realized is that Professions like Pistoleer, Riflemen, Carbineer, Fencer, and Pikesman are "general" combat types. They are the combat types that you'll see more often. Youy can compare them as the average soldier. Hence their low skill point usage. Now professions like BH, Commando, and Combat medic are "hybrid" professions. They use more skill points and require more pre-req's. They can be compared to SpecOp forces in the militery. They are the ones you'll find a little more rare than Pistoleer, Carbineer, and so on. I know Pistoleers, Carbineers, and Riflemen are going to hate me for saying this, but I think that if you're a combat profession and you use 160 or so Skill Points, then you should have an advantage over professions that use 90 or so Skill Points. A person who has more training in specialty weapons should have an advantage over a person who has training in a basic kind of weaponry.

Fire DoTs arean unstoppable DoT.
I find that an opponent that stays outside my range has quite successfully stopped my Fire DoT...We are granted such a powerful "unstoppable" DoT because of the severe restrictions we have as well...that's the balanace...The target has to be within 16m...we also have to deal with a long delay timer, poor accuracy, and natural unlimited way to put out the DoT.
And what about switching to another weapon or using the non-specials? The fact is that if they are out of your range than you are also out of theres. A commando is a master marksman with a wide range of guns available, so use them to suit the situation. If they are close use the flamer, if they are at midrange use a carbine, if they are long range use a rifle or heavy support weapon. There is nothing a commandoisn't able to deal with. An unstoppable DOT is very much a bad thing, just be grateful they haven't added burn resistance and such to mobs yet. When they do that you'll not be able to even using a flamethrower on a rancor then.
I respect you as a Master Bio-Eng Tal-N but I believe your wrong when it comes to Commando issues.
First, this whole thing about using weapons and specials from novice level professions is absolutely unacceptable. I admit, its nice to have these specials and guns, but how many Mele people do you see using there bare hands and novice specials when there MTK or MF. Lets see, do they do a special that does 200 damage or one that does 2000. To say a professions HAS to use there novice weapons and specials to survive is being unfair since most combat professions never have to use there "old" specials or weapons once they are in an elite profession. Again I say Elite, using novice specials and weapons to survive in a battle because your main weapons and specials don't work is simply pathetic.
Second, you said be greatful they haven't added a dot resistance to fire, lol. They ARE! Now imagine a person who wear's 80% heat compostie armor, Commando proof lol. And your right, Commandos will not be able to take on Rancors after this patch.

It takes 170 skill points to be a Master Commando. Being a TKM, Master Pistoleer or Master Rifleman cost only 92 skill points. It takes us longer and we need more trainingto be this. Master Commandos should be the most powerful in PvP.
Master Commandos strength and niche is in taking out armaments such as ATST's ATAT's and turrets. Not people, do you think that the number of skillpoints spent on a profession determines is place in the PvP heirarchy. Master Dancers spend just as many skillpoints as a Master Rifleman, does this mean they should be equal in PvP?
A 50 cal machine gun is designed to take out equipent, not people. How well do you think it would do against people.
Naypalm and flame throwers where designed to take out sections of jungle so troops can more readily navigate. How well does it do against people.
Your argument doesn't fly.
I can't tell you how many times I have been laughed at and told "your a commando, you can't beat me" now come on TH, does that sound like a profession that is "invincible"?
Maybe you should stop fighting commando vs commando and do some real testing. Then when you come here and post they may actually hold some weight.......give us some real results instead of half assed tests.
First of all you say Flame DOT is incurrable......yeah so is every other dot unless I'm a doctor.....
Then you make the point flame DOTS should not stack, I'm sorry but if I apply more fire to you you shouldn't burn more....we already have the delays and inaccuracy and 16m distance restrictionon the flame specials....why do we need any other balance to it? AND fire extuingishers will put out the DOT so why would you also nerf them stacking??? would it really even matter at that point since any newb will be able to put them out with one easy click of their mouse?
Again I say "GIVE US SOME DEFENSES" we have 0

The Barrett M82 is the sniper version of the venerable Ma Deuce (.50 mounted on a vehicle),it is used for long range sniping on personnel as well as defeating softer vehicles.
So it works great against people and is used because the sniper thus does not have to get so close to his target as well as guaranteeing a kill with its great power.
In fact one of the first persons using a .50 with a scope was Sgt. Carlos Hathcock, who isgenerally acknowledged as one of the greatest snipers who ever lived, in Vietnam.
The flamethrower has since WW2 been usedto clear out bunkers or clear rooms in cityfighting. It has been deemed an "inhuman" weapon by the Geneva convention and is thus not to be used.Still is though and if my memory serves the Russians still mount it on some of their tanks (The T72 comes to mind) so they'll be more efficient in cities where they'd otherwise be ambushed more easily.
I'd love to know where you've read that it has been used to clear jungle lanes for infantry or such, I've never heard of such a thing before.
So instead of making this a reality vs game thing all I want to know is why I should pay more points to be equal to someone that pays almost half the points.
