If you want to find a Krayt quickly in a graveyard, bring a Treasure Map disk. Treasure Map disk react with specail results in some area's and in a Krayt graveyard will get you a loot box of krayt loot. The dragon won't be too far behind cause well, it will want to kill you for finding it's loot.
ROFL...thats the scythe quest

Krayts have resistance to just about everything. When I have hunted them with my guild we had a TKA and a Commando using a flamethrower and me use my Scatter. I was about 0110 pistoleer and bh 0010. I wasn't doing the big damage the TKA or commando could do in one hit but with health shot 1 and 2 and bleeding shot I could apply few bleeds and if the TKA got knocked down the dragon would immediately attack me, so I guess I was doing enough damage to notice me.
We also stayed away from the ancients I had one spawn on top of me dead in two hits.

I was soloing a giant canyon krayt with my DE-10 yesterday (unbuffed!) and doing pretty well with it. I was shooting him with my various DoT pistol and BH specials from maximum range and then moving far away from him (whilekeeping a building between me and him as an obstacle--he just happened to spawn in a very fortuitous place) while I waited for the bleeds to tick. What I noticed was that my bleeds were doing basically nothing--he was regenerating as fast as the bleeds were ticking. My fire ticks though (from Torso Shot) were another story--it was fun watching his health bar getting blacker and blacker. I could see that it was going to take me a very long time to completely burn him (so long that I wouldn't have the patience for trying this on a regular basis), but it was still fun to damage him. It occurred to me later that I should have been shooting him with a powerup on my pistol, so the ticks would have been bigger.
I never got to see if I'd be able to kill him though, because while I was at (I thought) a safe distance from him, he suddenly warped over 70m directly on top of me, instantaneously, and killed me in a couple of blows before I realized what happened.
Anyway, I don't recommend trying to solo these things if you're just a pistoleer. You shouldn't have much trouble with the juveniles though.

I love warping. It's the best.

I love it too--when it works in my favor.

Juvies are weak to Acid damage, when I go out in a group with my guild for Krayt hunts, my job as Pistoleer is controlling the spawn and getting people in the right place.
The Canyon/Juvenile spawns are a good example, usually both will spawn at once and I'll go and tank and kill the juvie while a melee tank goes for the canyon. I kill the juvies and watch for any more that spawn while I switch to the DE-10 and attack the canyon, stacking poisons and targetting health while the melee tank (usually swordsman) and riflemen do random HAM damage specials... I stick a few poison stacks on too, and clear states from the melee tanks and thow heals.
Vs Giants, I become the second line of defence if the tank gets KD/Dizzied. Pistoleer does well with its defence to KD and Dizzy, so with Ithorian Mist and Thakatillo I tend to be hard for the Krayt to knock down.
As soon as the tank hits the deck, dizzy and KD'd, the Krayt looks to aggro someone else, usually the riflemen... so I run in and spam PMD1 on the Krayt to get it to aggro me, stick initmidate on it if need be then lure it back over to the tank, cure his dizzy then let him pickup where he left off, then I just step out of range of the area attacks and plonk away with Heath Shot 2 and Health Poison Stacks.
I even tanked an ancient the other day, just kept it intimidated and used chef buffs to stay on my feet. Had to lure it away from the group as it had been lured into us.
So, in short Pistoleer's state defences, chef buffs and intimidate (from Novice Brawler) make us a handy group member when Krayt Hunting, but lack of melee mitigation means you will get hit very hard indeed.
Pistoleer is more useful as a tank against ranged mobs, with Ranged Damage Mitigation 3, 90% Composite Armour, PSG with Anti-Decay kit , doc/dancer/music buffs and Dodge, hits that register in your combat log as 5k or over (and would one hit kill or worrymany professions) float above your head as -150 damage actually done, or none at all as you dodge it.

It certainly does when you get the hang of it. You dont need BH Pistols or Dirty Fighting either.
Plus it must be one of the most fun and challenging professions in the game.

To my knowledge they only spawn at graveyard and surrounding areas. They drop Krayt pearls, I don't know the exact drop rate but its damn slim lol
