Yep, there is a master level weapon. TheMIR didn't quite fit with the Commando theme. We've been discussing the aestetics of the massassi ink rifle as a master weapon for some time, but didn't make a decision until we got some community feedback. While the MIR is a very cool looking weapon with a very interesting history behind it, it seemed like it wasn't the right fit for a master level weapon (especially Commando). We went with something more Commando-esque instead.

Since when was the masassi rifle "commandoesque" anyway? I mean, the proton isn't bounty hunteresque, since when did they run around with assault rifles shooting down their prey? That's our job!

None of the certs are set in stone at this stage. Up until last night, Commandos were slated for the Massassi Ink Rifle. As a testament of how things are likely to change throughout the course of testing (based on constructive feedback and testing experience), the Massassi Ink Rifle is no longer certed to Commandos.

This is just one of the several changes to weapons that may make it onto TC within the next couple of days (subject to change, of course).

...But I thought Wookie Riflemen wanted to use Bowcasters? No?

The issue is that in the previous game set-up, all weapons were viable. Now, in the new set-up, they follow a "newbie-lowbie-uber" progression, inadvertantly pigeon-holing people into using the "best" weapon i.e. the highest level weapon.

It seems that now, instead of Bowcaster = SG82 = Jawa Ion = T-21, that it's Bowcaster < SG82 < Jawa Ion < T-21

Which is a shame, because in-game as a Wookiee I swear by my Bowcaster, and I hate to see it brought down to CDEF status in the new game incarnation.
