Just my luck that the dev shows up right after I surrender Commando...oh well, I'll be back...

Finally! This is ALL we wanted, some sort of recognition that the devs know our problem!

If only there was some device that would shoot flames on them"

very impressed with your post

small suggestion though

"Thirty three professions, and some are broke all to hell. We want to fix them. All of them. But it takes time."

Might I suggest that unless those professions are fixed first it won't matter what theme is planned for the next 3 months, nor infact will it matter wether theres a brand new dungon on every single planet in the galaxy.

Unless the professions work as they're supposed to .. how can anyone enjoy what content you produce ?

The reason is that .. everything in SWG is optional.. except character classes.. I can choose to walk, ride, drive, visit, not visit, go neutral, go overt, stand theree and take it or run away. the only thing I HAVE to do though is play a character class. I can't effect anything in the slightest in this game unless I play a character class (run your stats and tell me how many characters have 250 unspent points)

I can guess it's something like 0.00%

I'm going ot guess too that 95% of your CS issues are profession fixing, I'm also going to hazard a guess that your QA issuesall revolve around making sure that with all the different aspects of thegame yourjuggling, that the bulk of the professions fixes arn't lost in the miazma of the other "content" additions.

wouldn't it be nice if the professions were no longer an issue?.. the probelms with professions have been hanging round SoE's neck like an albatross for the last 12 months.. don't you think it's worth getting them out of the way now ? like _before_ the space expansion ?

They're the reason for 80% of the greif, presure and player disatisfaction thats probably giving you gray hairs talking to us right now 8)

Do you want them hangin round untill NEXT christmas ? please for the sake of your own mental health get a line drawn under this once and for all.

Ipersonally wouldn't care if Ididn't see a single quest, dungon, new jedi system or even a newbunch of weapon schematicsadded to this game for the next 2 publishes, if it ment thatprofessions fixes got done once and for all.

Then you can start having fun again and making content and stuff. runing dynamic quests, invading theed anchorhead with AT'AT's and stuff.. we all want all those things too.. but unlesspeoples professions work, how canwe participate ?

8)

Firstly, I never knew that a single post could go so far in giving me hope for this profession.

Secondly, I agree with what Takei_Urawaza says in the previous post in that focusing on "fixing" professions would be of the greatest benefit to everyone right now.

With this post, my faith in and respect for the development team has returned. I have always had faith in the potential of this game, it's the community that often drives me crazy. People crying "NERF!" "GRIEFER!" and endless whining of other sorts really grinds away at my patience, as I'm sure it does yours.

Ok, I'm rambling...

Thanks JustG .

I hardly ever post here on topics like this, because usually anything I want to say has already been said by several other people. But, on something like this I feel like I must add my voice to the masses as well. Anyways, I fully understand and accept that there are things that take priority in what gets fixed. Afterall, you can't do all of it at once, in one fell swoop. However, I think a lot of things got blown out of control and people felt really slighted that there was no communication coming our way and we were getting beaten hard with the "nerf" bat, and felt like we were being ignored. I know a lot of things will be revealed with the coming combat balance, but that's several publishes away. As of right now, Publish 6 was the Imp crackdown, ok cool with me. Publish 7 and 8 are for the DE's. Heaven knows they have suffered plenty. So this combat balance isn't even going to be around till maybe Publish 9, and then it's been said it'll come in waves. So let's say it takes 2 Big Patches to fix it, like DEs. So right now, Publish 9 and 10 to make the combat Balance get in there. Well that's what, three or four months away from now? Maybe even more if something else is on the plate before the combat balance, and honestly we have no idea what's going into the combat balance. For the past couple of months ya'll have given the DE's a reasonable progress report on things that were going to change. That's just for a single class. How many combat classes are there of the 33 professions. How much of the game is going to be changed radically by this future publish or 2 for the combat revamp. Yet nothing is known about it. A few things have leaked out that are rather vague...like HAM costs are going to be different to keep you from spamming specials. (Of course I look at that and think of having Doc buffs on and wonder just what will prevent a guy with 3k to his Health/Action and substates that will keep him from being able to spam specials. But that's just a thought I had).

Now being slightly more selfish, I am really only concerned about Commandos at the moment. Things we'd like to know, what's the future of the HAR? Will our Accuracy and Speed bonuses for it ever be made so they stack correctly (broken from Day 1). Will we ever be able to properly use grenades without running more of a risk of incapping ourselves than anyone else. Will the LP ever have it's own unique specials. Will the Acid Launcher and the HAR remain the only acid weapons in the game that are AP0 instead of AP1. Plus the plethera of other questions that loom about the commando profession. At the moment, aside from Base Killing (and for rebels, AT-ST killing) just what is special about Commandos what is our niche? We're not bad at fighting, but then again we're not particularly brilliant at anything either. Sure we have a flamethrower, with a weak DoT now that anyone in armor barely notices.

Heck from the standpoint of PvP, will Mind shot and Eye Shot and Mind Poison always be the most powerful attacks in the game. How about a way to buff the Mind substats without food and spice?

Anyways, there are tons of questions out there, and if someone could drop a few answers besides "wait for the combat balance that is months and months away" it'd probably go a huge way to settling the natives. Besides it'd give us something else to talk about besides the deafening silence we usually feel aimed our direction.

I agree with Takei_Urawaza. I don't want to take away from the raised level of appreciation for the post, but it must be said - "Fix what's broke before adding new stuff"...

If need be, put up a vote on the main site from the player community.

Also, it's good to remember that for each thing they tweak, they have to look at the entire game and how things will be affected (and even then they'll miss something, human nature). To have all of them working on a different thing at once would either

a) Require half or morethe day being spent on discussing how each person's designated change will affect something else

or

b) Everyone just does as they will without discussion and we end up with one hell of a messed up game that will take much harsher nerfs to get back into balance.

It's a lot easier for the devs to be more thourough (which is a good thing =) when they're working with less issues (again this is taking all the different departments into account, not everyone in soe can program and change a class)

Look, we are not trying to nerf your profession to hell. We don't think you are the uber profession. We know that your other weapons need to be made more useful. We know that you would like some answers to your questions.

We have a TON of things on our plate. Publish themes. Dungeons. Major system overhauls. CS Issues. QA Issues. Correspondent issues...

Thirty three professions, and some are broke all to hell. We want to fix them. All of them. But it takes time.

We really don;t have the bandwidth to be here on the boards, track down answers, and post them to everyone. We simply would never get ANYTHING done. But communication is necessary, and good... so we are trying to focus it where we can. Right now this is aimed squarely at the Droid Engineers. And even they would like more. We just can't do it. But we lurk like crazy. We do read what is going on, and understand how you feel. I really wish we had the time to communicate with everyone. But we do not.

I love commandos... I ground my way up to Master the old-fashioned way on Ahazi, and play one to this day. I cried when we nerf'ed the DOT's, but I think it was right for the game.

I ask for your patience. When will we get around to answering the questions? I honestly can't say for sure. I am sorry. But we are listening. Your correspondent is the numberone way into our plans.Thanks.

While its nice to hear this, it does raise a few warning flags...

First...Why introduce new content (if you can call it that), when stuff that has been broken since beta STILL isn't fixed?

Second...As a segue from the first, when the new content comes out, will it work correctly? If it doesnt, will it take priority over everything else? So, then, commando (and everything else that is currently broken) gets put on the backburner...AGAIN.

Third...How does TH expect us to be positive when we have had mud kicked in our face, by the devs, repeatedly?

I could go on, but won't...I, like everyone else, appreciate the post from you. However, I am a little moreskeptical than everyone else, and think (wrong or right) that this was nothing more than a peace offering to calm the tides a little. I hope I am wrong, I really do. And I will eat that egg that will get splatted on my face with a glassfull of mud water as well. We asked for bone, you threw it, we are chomping on it. I do hope its not hook, line, and sinker.

JustG, I appreciate you coming to speak with us, finally. Even if there was no announcement of a certain time for a fix, it feels good to know that at least one dev hasn't forsaken us entirely. I understand that everything on the agenda you guys have will take some time, but...

Can you at least get our titles fixed for us soon? It's a start on the long road to fixing our profession, at least.
