hows this for a launchpad tip: "To get the most out of your gaming experience, you shouldignore all the old outdated messages on the loading screen". Or, ummm... heres a novel concept, you could UPDATE them! Instead of giving us a new place to find useless tips can you please fix the old ones please? You know the ones im talking about, on the loading screen that appear every time you log on or travel on a shuttle. Its ridiculous how many of them are no longer accurate.
I agree DuuRandor. In fact another task which I'm taking on is to update and add to all the loading screen messages. That requires a full publish to get in, so expect to see them fixed in the next publish (not the one currently on Test Center). I'll likely start a thread at some point to get your suggestions for ones to add.
What would be really cool is if you added blurbs about the player city you are going to when you take a shuttle to those cities. That would take research about the city reidents, but it would certainly make us feel like we are part of the game and not just playing it.
You can examine yourself ... press ctrl + 1 (selects you) then type /exa
You can avoid having to click on the droid near shuttles (just double click the ticket in your inventory)
You can add other chat channels by right clicking the chat tab and choosing modify. (good idea to add personal "tells" to group chat and to "guild" chat. I always copy "guild" chat to all chat windows so I can see what the gang is up too.
You can heal yourself as a medic /heald self
millions more too .. lol

Mrjuice, the real designers are working on those items. I have no scripting or programming skills to speak of so I'm trying to take low level text bugs off their plate.

Yeah people have to understand the concept of a 'team'. There are lots of different people on the Dev team. People get so upset when they see their pet bug not fixed, but there is a new art or graphic addition. Then theystart screaming about the Dev's not fixing bugs and only doing cosmetic things. The programmers do their job, and the art/content guys do their job. I mean if a graphic or textupdate can be done by someone and finished then why delay it? Sometimes it seems like people just don't understand the concept of one thing being easier to fix than another. I'm sure balancing HAM costs for specials is much more complicated and intensive than updating the loading screen tips. Why shouldn't Q do it and get it out?

Well, it could be argued that insted of hiring (oh so many) art guys they should hire more high level programmers
Well, the problem is: adding programmers on a project SLOWS it down (a lot). I'm kinda worried about how many team changes we're getting. Honestly, that is probably going to slow down the folks in those slots a LOT. The core team seems to be staying though, so hopefully it won't be too bad.
The learning curve to get up to speed on any significant programming project is horrendous. It'll take them 2 months or so to get up to full-speed.
Seriously, even in small projects you do for Computer Science projects, adding another person to an existing team (to do stuff already being done) slows it down almost always. (100% of the time if the person is going to 'assist' or replace someone who was on the ball.)
Now replacing a dud, yeah, that helps. Bringing in a specialist for a particular class, yeah. But in general, don't ask them to add more folks and expect any speed increase in less than a few MONTHS after they're brought on board.

...that in the original script for "The Return of the Jedi" Lando and Nien die as the millenium falcon is engulfed in the explosion of the second Death Star? The test screening audience did not respond well, so it was changed for the final film.
Did you know...that is an urban legand about SW?

Oh, thank heavens!!! Somebody's finally going to take a long look at the loading screens! I bugged many of the spelling errors on them back in Beta, but there are still a ton of spelling errors, grammatical problems and picture-text mismatches (if that sludge panther really IS a gurnaset, I'll eat my hat).
Please Q, do post a focus thread on this when you have the time. I have a whole list of loading screen problems I've been squirreling away just for such an opportunity.
And in the general "mythic/epic story" it's often necessary for the hero's mentor to be taken from him so that he will learn to grow on his own.
