Thread: What is Our Number One Issue?
I totally agree to Solstise....
Commando still needs some major upgrades and tweaks.
Being master is pointless at the moment, if you want to "rock" you just have to train flame 4...
and agreed, commandos should be much more versatile...
and i'd really like to see this surprise melee neckbreak move and the stationary guns, would add some feeling to the game ![]()
I want a large, non charged projectile (kinetic), or energy weapon that is just like a normal gun in that it has specials that give a ok damage increase and work at range.
I just don't understand how i can be a commando without using an overly large, fast firing cannon ![]()
Slicing
1. Mastersable to choose which stat to slice.
2. Add more slicing options. Slicing travel terminals. At master level I would like to see Group Terminal slicing. You slice the terminal and everyone in the group gets the benefit.
3. A reduction in the lower end of slicing as you increase up the tree. 12% Slice II, 14% slice III, 16% sliceIV and 18% for master doesn't seemunreasonible.
4. Quality of tools effecting over all slice.
Amazing ideas... if only they'd ever come true.
Combine Flamethrower and Heavy Acid Rifle into onetree. Combine "Heavy Weapons" (expendable type) and grenades into one tree.
Add more depth and features to Commando class with now two free trees.
Examples:
- Stationary mini-gun type deployable tree (might act like a droppable item like the narglon(sp?) instrument
- Give Launcher pistol tree w/ specials and bonuses
- If we "must" keep the worthless brawler pre-requisite, give us some sort of close range "shoulder check" KD, + melee defense tree
There are many many more ideas to give the commando class more depth, these are just a few a couple commando friends and I have talked about.
Har did anyone mention the HAR. It just plain and simple sucks.
Also like everyone else has written whats the point of becomming a master commando. Everyone uses the flame thrower and I have seen one or two people using the grenades.
The solution to this is not to nerf the flame thrower but to make the HAR and launcher pistol better. If a commando truely had the skills of any real life special forces it would seem fair to me to make commando xp trees harder to climb than other skills. Just the rewards should be greater for the time spent.

Yes truely great ideas, but the DEVs will never do it, same with other profession who ask for useless trees to be combined to another/removed/filled with more content (ex. smuggler underworld tree) no thought seems to be placed into any of these in any prof to my knoladge.
(1) I agree with the posts above. MAIN ISSUE, the HAR is slower and does less damage that the Flamethrower--and it's specials have no DOT effects. I think the fix is not simply to increase the HARs stats and effects to match the FT (as that would be boring--as it would make the selection of weapon meaningless most of the time). I thing they need to improve the stats on the HAR AND reduce the stats on the FT. The Flamethrower's DOT specials (not to mention special effects)would still make it a powerful contender for favorite Commando weapon...but if players needed bigger damage numbers fasterthey'd need to turn to the HAR and forego the DOT.
So keep the specials the same, but swap the damage and speed stats on these two weapons. That should be an easy fix and it balances them nicely.
(I know that the HAR already has a much higher chance to cause wounds...but in game that effect is not very useful. Wounds are easily healed, and most lower level medics will do it for free to gain XP.)
(2) If you get a second issue in (and this one I think is easier to fix) it would be making Master Commando worth the cost in skill points. There is no reason to grind through Heavy Weapons and Tactics. They're nice, but most folks never use the related weapons and grenades anyway. The main reason to get Master is for Flame Cone 2 (which is great), but that's a lot of skill points just to avoid using Flame Single 2. All that needs to be done here is to (as is suggested above) move some of the accuracy and speed bonuses from the lower level skills into the Master category or maybe give Masters some Melee and Ranged Defense bonuses. Right now, most people who get Master Commando do so for the title.
(3) If you get a third issue in (and this is the absolute easiest thing to fix), please have them re-evaluate the professional titles at the top of each skill tree. Right now, you get:
- "Expert Commando" if you master the Heavy Weapons line (fair enough);
- "Ordinance Manufacturer" if you master the HAR line (we don't 'manufacture' anything, do we? and if we did, it's not a skill you'd get from mastering the Heavy Acid Rifle);
- "Artilleryman" is you master the grenade line; and
- "Grenadeer"is you master the flamethrower line.
I would think Grenadeer should be in the grenade line...Artilleryman should be in the Heavy Weapons line....Flame thrower could get Expert Commando (though 'Flamethrower Specialist' would seem more apt) ...and a similar thing could be done for the HAR line.
I'm going with taking a look at the Acid Rifle as well. Lots of ppl are just taking the flame skills.
Maybe looking at the accuracy and damage it does?
The HAR, Fix The Modifiers, Speed of specials especially wehn reaching tier 4, and Give it AP like all other acid weapons, basicallymake it as good as the llc or flamethrower.
