Thread: Here is a PM I Sent to TH & JustG and TH's Response...

I play for the love of starwars, I love to role play in the sw universe and its enjoyable, but to have to deal with ignorance on a daily bases is too much and quite frankly, once this combat revamp flops, so will the # of people who play.Message Edited by thepunisher286 on 02-19-2004 07:48 PM
Hear hear. RPing in a Star Wars world is great, but dealing with the crap is just, well... crap. Besides, I get more of a Star Wars fix from the Galactic Conquest mod for BF1942. WOW, please hurry. (But don't hurry like SWG was hurried, or I'll cry.)
Tal-N, you might want to edit your post...you are confusing me for TH...lol
I have to agree with garvin (this should be TH)that the profession isn't broken, things do work. But they do not work very well, the profession isn't optimized you might say however it does work. They have taken a few steps towards optimizing it and that will make a huge difference. I do however dislike how garvin (this should be TH) says that we're ranting and being generally non-constructive. I see many many good ideas and rational posts on these forums. However the devs need to realise that ignoring us is simply making things worth, they need to break this cycle because they cannot rationalize the fact it has been more than 6 months and our profession has had very little fixed or looked at. There have been no discussions about what should be done with the profession. Equally I have to agree that theres far too much mindless ranting from some of the community and it's not helpping at all. A rant such as this you sent to him isn't helping matters. How do you avoid a rant? Simple. You offer the problem and then a solution, that then becomes a constructive post.
And Regarding the HAR...it's to early to think that fixing it will be a good thing...Let's say they fix the mod stacking issue and make it a working weapon...We are still left with a Range restricted weapon that is weaker then the FT and does less damage...What's the point of using it...the only times it will come into play is when we face a 100% heat resist creature...and still I would use my dabbled skills over the HAR...If they Dev's plan on completely revamping the HAR they should say so...instead they are "enhancing" it...that can mean to many things...it should be important to them to let us know specifics...
I know your profession has specific questions and views. The devs are working very hard on the Droid Invasion right now, but the combat focus is an ongoing effort as well. I assure you your needs are being considered and addressed."
thx,

Here's a positive response...I'm POSITIVE commando SUCKS because we are ignored every patch, every post made is given no reply or is told to **edit**. we were a joke in pvp before our DOT nerf, now after the nerf an entertainer can out dmg us with a slitherhorn...**edit** is that!!! I pray we get a competent correspondent who will address our needs, not tell us wait for this wait for that. i've been here since july, i've waited long enough. if I did this kinda half-a$$ work at my job I would be fired. FYI, devs i'm not some little kid whose still in high school, i don't live with mom and dad, i work 8 hours a day and go to college(guess what field). i've played video games since I was 4 years old, i'm willing to bet i've played more games than half of the SWG staff put together. i can say POSITIVELY commando is a broken class...maybe if we used god mode like you guys it would seem fine. Commando's are frontline troops... riflemen, CM's and that are SUPPORT troops. yet a combat medic can outdamage us, and they are medics not soldiers. Unless a tkm can go go gadget arms our range should be greater than there's. forget it, no one will respond anyway....maybe that's why half the ppl who started playing this game in june and july are no longer here.

This is HOW SoE does bussnies. While they still manage to eak out some good games, whomever wrote their "Customer Interaction" doctrine apperntly worked for the KGB in a past life. They tell us nothing, nothing, NOTHING, until it feels like your talking to a brick wall, then when you've nearly packed your things up, they drop some big patch and a huge post with smiley faces talking about "See, we told you we'd fix it, so yeah, worship us, and those that complained, well, your terrible." I can't imagine that they actuelly hire dozens upon dozens of Devs that have no idea how to communicate in a mature fashion, so I dont blame them. It MUST be from higher up. Some sort of "Do'nt get us in trouble by suggesting anything" kind of rule. Well guess what, whichever middle management office biscut thought that up. Read a forum. Try it. You see happy people? I don't.
And to the nice person that pointed out this game was released early? *shudders* That's how SoE does bussnies as well. Oh, I get hammerd when I bring this up...amazingly so. You know, you hear the whole "Oh come on Hatch. It's an MMO, these things are constantly changing and evolving, you can't expect it to be static" responses, which are so Clintonesque topic-shifters it blows my mind. I didn't ask for a perfect game at launch. Never have. never will. Do you understand that devs? I don't EXPECT your product to be finished when I pay you for it. That's a sad state of affairs unto itself. I just expect things like skill trees to not have flavor text that suggests there are skills there....and there arn't. Or for weapons to not even do their correct damage type. Or for some of the more glaringly obvius game balance faults that some of the devs either blatently ignore as if they'd never played a computer game in their entire lives, or deny the existiance of, as we have here.
There's a difference between "Imperfect" and "Internal-Alpha".
But...that's just how they do things. EQ. Planet Side. SWG. And of course, it's REALLY /our/ faults that they keep doing it, you know. We knew after our second experince with the company how they were going to play us, but...we still bought this game. Mainly becuase it rocks, even in it's 25 percent completed state. I wonder if they appriciate that? That in a state that honestly strikes me as pre-beta, this is still one of the best games on Earth. It's just the faults it DOES have are so glaringly not code problems, but simple lack of attention from a sentient species. What should I expect, I guess. This IS the company that brought us 18 hours of down time on the first day the game was live.
Come on SoE. You could own the video game world, but you have to get your heads out. You have intelligent, hard working and dilligent fans who are doing nothing else but paying YOU for the opportunity to offer intillegent, well thought out, factul opnions on how the game can be improved. If your devs arn't allowed to speak to anyone about anything, just say so and leave us to fester on the forums. If not, answering people like Garvin with more than a canned "You suck and I don't" speech, okay?
The last time I checked, he and I and everyone else here were paying your salaries.
