Hardcap the Jedi population where they're at now. No new Jedi can be created until we advance to a point in the SW timeline where it's appropriate to have 6,000 Jedi running around.

Then, institute a rotation system of sorts. Out of all the Jedi on a server, only3 or so are allowed to play their Jedi character per week. The other Jedi characters are locked down until it's their turn on the rotation. This will limit the number of Jedi we see running around trying to "pwn" everyone and enhance the SW feel somewhat.

There is a huge problem with that...no matter our own opinions, there are some players who only play SWG because they want to be a Jedi...SOE recognizes this and made an understandable business decission not to go with a capp'ing system (they'd be shooting themselves in the foot to tell new players "sorry, you can't be a Jedi until more slots open up")....

To get those "jedi wanabee" new players to keep playing they have to keep the possibility of being a Jedi open and uncapp'd otherwise SOE risks losing their business...most people quit the game because of frustration over the lack of fun things to do or the state of their choosen profession type...only a few quit because of "too many jedi running around"...Just because some of us don't have any interest in being a Jedi or seeing them run around, that doesn't mean everyone else agrees or that our opinion weighs heavier then theirs.

The trick is to force the Jedi back into hiding...think about it...would anyone have a problem if they rarely saw a Jedi? What incentive do Jedi currently have to stay way from cities or at the very least, hide that they are a Jedi while in a city? Typically when I go into a city as a Master Commando, unless I'm specifically on an Overt Raid (which doesn't happen that often these days) I don't go around flaming everyone and everything I see...But there are some Jedi that go out of their way to make it obvious within city borders that they ARE a Jedi...They have no incentive to hide...what if an "incentive" was coming?

That's all I'm going to say on that...I'm already focusing to much on Jedi when this is a Commando forum...Just trust that the Devs have a very cool plan in mind for dealing with the obviously over-abundance of Jedi out in the open.

I'd be happiest with a no-Jedi server, but the devs have already said they won't do that, either.

At this point I doubt they'd want to invest the manpower or hardware to set that up...it might also make for a programming nightmare (having a certain server that is meant to be missing certain code or configured differently could make for issues with publishes).

I would think that down the road (maybe post CU and post some of the later Revamps) the devs might be inclined to listen to making a strict Roleplay/Immersion Server that is bent on following storylines as closely as possible...

But I still cling to the idea that if we didn't see Jedi as much as we do, the complaints about them would drastically be reduced and it might end up possible that a "no-jedi" server might not even be needed.

OK, well that sounds good already. I don't know if you mean an incentive to hiding or an incentive to not being out in the open. I'm guessing the latter. Meaning that your not gonna get a perc for hiding, but you will want to hide because being out in the open (city, etc.) would mean trouble, of some sort.

Is that clear as mud?

All I can say is that this better mean they're finally following through with their pre-beta ideato have Vader, Fett, Mara Jade and others personally hunt down the flagrant jedi.

Hmm well this thread has certainly gotten off topic! From Underslung Carbines to jedi heh...

Anyways, my 2 cents...

A new server(s) JUST for roleplaying and immersion I would say is technically impossible. The devs can't even following storylines on the current servers close enough, how will they do a better job on a few selected servers AND retain content on the other servers at the same time, when they can't even follow a monthly story arc?

Who knows maybe if the CURB is a success and the game gets a breath of fresh air and for the most part, FINALLY post-SWG Beta mode (rather than fixing old bugs, revamping systems...but concentrating on new content, new storylines, and other additional content that doesn't come out broken or in need of further revamps - sometimes it feels like SWG has become an endless vortex of revamps)...the devs will actually have manpower...

It is quite a possiblity...afterall, anyone noticed that gradually at the beginning to mid of this year...the stream of new content (dungeons and regular publishes) seems to have gotten slimmier? I certainly have...this was definately due to JTL...but that had its own team in the beginning too. *shrug* Perhaps the devs have been putting a TON of manpower over the past 8 months coding this bloody thing...we will only know until after the CURB...

It might even make some people believe the Devs kinda know what they are doing in regards to Jedi...

All I know is I intend to be there when this change gets added to the game on Day 1 of it's addition...

Jedi Control Measures:

1) Jedi in populated area has 3 minutes "free and clear"
2) After 3 minutes, Jedi can be attacked by EVERY player in the area. The Jedi's "posse" can not attack a player "engaged" with the Jedi unless the "engaged" player is declared overt. Jedi can not attack a player that has not "engaged" the jedi in combat or overt. (Don't force PvP on any player)
3) After 5 minutes opposing faction dropship will unload squads of super troopers to engage jedi inside city limits.
4) After 7 minutes opposing faction assualt spacecraft will "strafe" the Jedi's position and comrades.
5) After 9 minutes, Jedi will be fully targeted and orbiting heavy starships (corvettes, stardestroyers) will open fire on Jedi's position.
6) After 15 minutes, legendary characters (Vader, Skywalker, Fett, etc) appear and battle the Jedi to the death.

Just a fun list not intended to anger or offend anyone. But it would serve to make the Jedi be quiet, board their transports and get out of town darn quick. And it would be a BLAST to watch!

The underslung carb looks pretty kickin' rad, here's to the hope it'll be a commando gun (if it even gets into the game =P).

I always wanted a minigun, and if we got one, well....

umm.....don't count on i algiz. the bowcaster is cannon for wookiees, the carbine is not cannon for bothans. besides, if they gave a bothan only carbine, what will the rest of the species get special? Would be way to big of a can of worms that even all us commandos joined together couldn't stop.

Problem with the underslung carbine, is that it will require new animations.

I've mod'ed the game to replace the T-21 to a UC.....

It does not look good when used. The way it's being held, run with, gunned with, kneeled with, crawled with.....all needs new animations.

Will they do it? For one gun?

Most probably not.

All the other weapons tho, can easily fit the current "ranged" animations.

Wow...are you psychic? You are good...

I received a report earlier from a CU programmer that it looks like the Underslung Carbine will not be added to ANY profession anytime soon...The reason I was given is that they'd need to create 35+ new animations and with all that's going on with the CU, they just don't have time right now...But I do think they'll keep us in mind for when they do create those animations...And with them hiring 20+ new employees, maybe 2 or 3 of those will be Graphic Artists/Animators that would work on this...I'll keep bringing it up....
