Im not sure if im reading all this wrong or not, but where it says the damage part of each special affects only non-AOE weapons, (Or if it's a typo only AOE weapons) doesn't that mean that the specials essentially become pointless for one type of heavy weapon since all the special would do is lower AoE or decrease the range of the weapon or some other detrimental effect?

By non-AoE...it was ment:

These specials will -only- increase the damage on primary target damage. So, you will do lets say 1500 damage with focus fire against a mob...with both a PFT and a Proton Rifle. However, the PFT won't do 65% of that 1500 damage. The special will not increase the AoE damage.

This is good for balance, as we won't be "most damaging AoE + most damaging specials" its a nice compromise as then we can dabble in ranged professions to increase that AoE damage, rather than being FORCED to dabble for actual damage.



Remember, everyone was all excited about the CU and what it would do for us, too. We all know how well that turned out, don't we?



What outright sucked about the CU was the Alpha testing...never WAS testing. A lot of the issues we have now should have been addressed in Alpha testing, rather than the 2nd or third week of the CU Beta.

ALL of these fixes/additions, are physical...and have been actually playtested. And we still got quite a few weeks left of testing on TC2, and if needed beyond then on TC. Under no circumstances is this a repeat of the CU (unless if all our concerns were ignored and this entire attention of love was trashed), because time is on our side...and so is actually experiencing the proposed changes.

I agree with Ryubushi here.


This is merely a fix to get us back into useful. but it's fixes, not a revamp or a path to give us a role in the overall Star Wars picture. It does not define us as commandos, it does not make us commandos.


It merely gets us as profession to be more useful and usable. But we're a long way from being a Star Wars commando, but a close way of being a regular joe with some upgraded weapons. Not better, not worse than the regular trooper with the carbines or the rifles or the pistols.


We're commandos, in a Star Wars world, and that, does not mean we're simple grunts with big weapons. Commandos in Star Wars, has a role to fullfill, not as the frontline soldier, not as the defending soldier, but as commandos.


The game, tells us that, by not having us as a elite profession, but a hybrid, like Smuggler and BH, wich both have a clear role (however underdeveloped) in SWG and Star Wars. The game tells us that we are to be special, that we are Commandos with a clear role, shadowing the commandos we see in the EU and movies.


And yet, here we are, shouting "hallelujah" because they make our role to be the regular grunt, whos got their own weapons instead of the regular weapons. We shout "halleluja" because we as a hybrid profession, are getting sidelined with Elites like Carbines, Pistols, Rifles, swordsmen, Teras Kasi and Pikemen. A sidelining, that will because being hybrid and cost more, will hurt us and the commando community, because we would be better off as a Carbineer or a Rifleman.

500 actually...they're frog grenades sadly

But...I did loot a stack of 10 glop grenades on TC2 a few days ago

There have been some concern that a stack of 10 is still way too low given the amount of crafting that needs to go into the production of these consumables. If we get some major reductions in that department...then 10 is a fine number (and I think something garvin suggested long ago). If thats a no go, then 20-25 would be far better...

A note on the damage to building aspect...


On TC the other day as I was grinding up a new squad leader toon I came across a couple of new 'lairs'. One was called a small cave, but you couldn't go inside it. Basically it was new lair artwork. This one was a Tatooinian mynock lair. Later I came across a Trandoshan slaver camp that had multiple targetable items: a gate, a power supply, etc. I shot at them a few times and barely scratched them (I was probably using weapons just above CDEF...).


New fortifications and mission artwork are out there for you to blow up.

theres also the matter of the special damage being based off the weapons min/max damage.



as this only really assists us with pft and proton rifle and perhaps the new lava flamer (what an idiotic idea imo).


so still.. 80% of our arsenal will be junk.

As with all professions out there. But for us, its a far different problem since we have some states that are useful, but damage wise...the weapons are not.

In the coming week, I'm going to try and get some answers and/or thoughts on where they'll go or what the devs are going to do regarding this.

At the very least, I think we have good chance having glop grenades 100% blind since the frog-generated ones are at 90% right now. That and imperial detonators will help big time...its just we need A LOT easier access to them.

But I agree with you on that armour break...really am hoping that we might get something along that line in regards to the lava cannon...

Yep...now we can be more than just "great for crowd control in PvP...with only three specific ranged professions to support us of course". Now..we'll actually see some degree of damage in the mix.
