Cpl, when you get into Beta and get to see all the actual documents...headaches will be prevalent and occur frequently. Blackouts will happen on a daily basis. And your innate coolness meter will blow up from too much exposure!

hmm.... my next question is, say I'm a fencer/BH, and I'm certed for type a armor from fencer and type b armor from BH, do I run into problem while wearing type a armor and using an LLC?seems that unless they revert back to the no delay switch between armor and weapons, this could cause problems. Fights are often very fluid, esp large battles, often the best time to gain ground is to take it right after the enemy has attacked you and been thrown back, before they can get reorganized and lick there wounds.

Now to play devils adcovate and really stir up nasty feelings...you are assuming that armor will be "cert'd"...maybe all professions will be able to wear all armors, but some just better then others...

Basically what I'm getting at is, for as much info TH spilled today, there is a ton of info still out there...TH stated that the purpose of the Armor and Weapon revamp was to make using them more strategic...so the question is, by what was revealed today, do you think they are strategic enough? and on that note, What is TH not telling us?

Starnick, BravenIrish and the rest of us Testers can't answer those questions due to the NDA, but nothing is stopping you all from replying to TH's thread to scratch at some more details (which is my purpose for making you think deeper into these new docs)...

Not to mention we all probably are brushing too close to violating the NDA anyways Lol...

Anyone remember that scene in ESB when Darth Vader was torturing Han Solo on that electrical rack? I can just imagine TH dressed up in a Darth Vader suit w/ Thunderpants doing that to Sandbox testers if they get out of line...

TH just put up this thread to discuss the Armor revamp...might be a good place to go ask some of those burning questions...

Well, lemme just start off with I'm loving the image of me roastin' and toastin' stormies in that assault armor........ But anyhoo, I think a great additino to the new armors would be speed deductions. Because c'mon- you obviously cannot run a 10 second 40m with full assault armor on as a pistoleer, lol! So maybe ya pick up some commando to get the mitigation of the encumberances so you can fire a little faster, but have more resistance to damage. So while everyone might be wearing the same armor for a fight, not everyone might be able to use it as effectively as say........US! Lol, I'm just grasping here, but other than the encumbrances lowering our regen abilities and terrainnegotiations, only speed could be factored in there- I think, lmao. But just see this- a bunch of riflemen meet up with a group of commandos, and both are wearing full assault armor because it looks cool. Now the commandos beat down the riflemen because they are "immune" to the effects terrain negot limitings and quickly overrun the riflemen and kill them all. Now the RM regroup and put on their recon armor and go out to attack the commandos again. With this other armor they fire faster and can retreat back (kite em, lol) and eventually kill them. Now I guess commandos would be the class to pick for the ability to wear the assault armor, but if you get killed in your "uber" armor because you didn't have the support to kill the riflemen, then don't cry about it. Go get some ranged personnel on your side, find those twerps and soak up the dmg for your own RM, and watch the enemy fall. This armor system could give experienced PvPers a chance to learn something new, and allow for fresh blood to enter the now-dead GCW. Just a thought from yours truly, feel free to flame and worship.....

Hehe.

Just to add a bit. I'm absolutely giddy SOE finally shared a small tidbit! But listen up guys...

Take the information TH posted and think about that. Also, realize that Garvin isn't confirming or adding to that information. He's simply sparking converstion to see how our community views this info. It's really been a while since Commando (or anyone for that matter) had something interesting to speculate on. This is finally something for us Commandos to discuss...vague as it may be, but definately something we can chew on for a while!

Keep in mind, the Devs seem to be nervouse to release anything in fear of mass ranting or overall "rumor" misconceptions. This is our chance to prove that small tidbits of information can spark interesting and productive converstion. Garvin, and especially the Sandbox Team, can't answer questions and concerns directly...but the Sandbox Team, and especially Garvin, can direct some questions and concerns to the Devs.

I think that's why he's trying to spark some discussion. Let's have fun with this info and finally specualte a bit!

Hmmm...so which one sounds "Commando-esk" to you guys?

To be honest, I hope the CURB gives me the chance to forgo any armor and run around in camos with explosives.

One thing I'll say though, there's no way I'll be caught dead wearing the Rebel Recon armor or the Rebel Battle Helmet. What the heck is up with the artists and futuristicrice-farming hats? I guess it's too much to ask for Hoth-style armor (padded? I'd at least like the Uniform and hat in game...) Ah well, just my personal gripes. Now you all can't claim the devs love the Rebels too much with the Shock Trooper Armor in game.

I'm going to guess that by forgoing armor one will have a LOT more offensive options, since they won't have any encumberance to their draining stats. From what I've seen so far, it looks like unarmored might be the favored tactic for the shock and awe type players who hope to take down the enemy fast, while the heavier armor is for those who wan't to tank stuff. I fall into the first category (which is kind of wierd, considering I almost always play a tankish character in MMO's, FPS's on the other hand...)

From the sound of things I might end up going TKA/Commando/Rifleman (Carbineer/Pistoleer possibly) after the CURB.

not only that, but with information on the armor, we can start to dissern information on the weapons systems...

I think the CU is going to make this game.

One thing that caught my eye is the fact that gloves and boots will no longer be hit points (or ArmourHoles). The queston brought up is what will be the use of wearing gloves and boots? However the better question is will there be gloves and boots, for that matter bicept and bracers. My guess is the answer will be a 3 piece armour suit, Head, Body and Legs to match our HAM.

Just a thought.

I can't wait the set all that silly rebel armor ablaze!!!

This is exactly how a MMORPG development team do things. By realesing the information to the paying customer to make sure it will meet thier approval before setting it all in stone. Kudos to the team for moving in the right direction.
Hell, even if it all changes at least we know how much work is actually being done back there.
