Thread: Any Master Commando's dropping it after next publish?
Oh, just read the next post on defense stacking...ya know, that was never intended either so really where's the issue? It makes no sense for mods from one profession to stack with those of another totally unrelated profession. Sure, I could see how the mods from pistoleer would come into effect for a commando if he's using his launcher pistol, but there's no logical reason why a mod from a profession like teras kasi should stack with his commando mods to begin with. You're mainly ocmplaining about a broken system being fixed.
Don't get me wrong, I'm as unhappy as everyone else about having so many weapons in our profession that don't work, but really I think the things you guys are mentioning as things that will kill our profession in the next patch are actually going to just make it more fun. Where's the fun in being able to get buffs and solo every freaking mob in the game without any trouble just because you dabbled in a few other professions to get some favorable mods.
Seems this is really just people whining about how they won't have mods they shouldn't have after they wasted alot of time and effort to get them. So far I've seen and heard nothing that will in any way effect how I play the game or ruin my experience as a commando.
Well definetly not my TC one ![]()
But my Bloodfin char keeps dropping, going back,, dropping, going back.... but that's Holo Grind related hehe ![]()
I am riding it out, all of combat is going to change, that is what is happening in the long run. I want to see where we stand after all of it is done *even through the rough spots* and then help us beyond that. I am here for the long haul guys, I want to see Commando get fixed up and defined, and SWG flourish ![]()

OK, heres where I disagree in part. OK I agree that things like dodge, counter andd block go hand in hand with the weapon you are using, however, melee/ranged defnese to me is an experienced combatants ability to take evasive action. I feel its in place of not being able to control your character to use terrain much to stop bullets or move out of the way. Sure you can use buildings and some trees, but if the treee or building is on a hill, they shoot right through the hill.
Being able to jump behind something is where us short ranged guys and meleers are having the problem of getting kited. If there was actually some stuff to hide behind to move in that would be fine by me.
Another thing we should have is toughness should be a general mod. if your tough and can take a hit (and this has nothing to do with blocking just sucking up damage) you should be tough no matter what weapon you use. All part of battle experience also, being a hardened fighter which we are supposed to be yet we have none.
I agree that melee/ranged defense should stack from professions, as it does make sense. I would say only defense though, and not mitigation since you could take a couple professions like Commando and Pistoleer and get enough mitigation to take no damage at all.
The real core issue that seems to be bothering everyone though is double stacking DoTs of the same type, how it's being removed after they've gotten used to doing something they shouldn't be able to do in the first place.

But since hearing about the changes coming up to stacked defenses and the flamethrower I've decided to drop rifleman and TKA to get Master Smuggler(to make money) and Novice Medic. Gonna keep Master Commando for a while and if I find I can't kill anything worth a **edit** anymore then I'll switch to Master Rifleman (for PvP), Master Smuggler, Pistoleer 0440, Novice Medic.
I am a master commando currently working up the smuggler tree ( 0 / 4 / 3 / 4 atm) and its very nice for making money and solo'ing things like Kimo's and Krayts. I have also found it to be a great Roleplay fit for my character. I will be staying Commando / Smuggler after the next publish just cause Roleplay and fun is whats important to me. I wish they would put Launcher pistol skills in the commando tree somewhere (since launcher pistols qualify for Smuggler specials). I would also like to see them actually do something to make Acid Rifles worth equipping other than looks. Oh and they need to make Rocket Launchers easier to craft. come on... 9 factory runs(or is it 10)?

Dark,
Answer truthfully....Did you truly NEVER fire more than one Flamesingle or Flamecone at the same target? Because if you did, after the nerf you won't be saying "i shouldn't have been able to do this in the first place".
Besides, who ever said it was "unintended" when we've been using it? I for one never saw a little message pop-up on my screen "While yes you were able to stack DoTs, this is unintended. Please refrain from stacking DoTs further"
- Use of fire knockdown more than once in a row is illegal
- Use of warcry2 followed by panic shot is illegal ( i especially hate this, but guess what? it's there - deal with it)
- Stacking of flame dot is illegal
- KD/dizzy by TKM's is illegal (again, i hate it, but i've found ways to counter it...aka stacking defenses)
- Resetting a base countdown by a covert -- (granted devs said it was a mistake on the boards, but again, in the game there's no notice...btw not EVERYONE reads these forums...i played for 4 months before popping in to see what the forums were all about)
I could go on and on with other things people complain about. Face the fact that your opponent will scheme, plan, and come up with ways to defeat you. In return, we do the same. That's why it's called a game. Unfortunately, it's a game with bugs; however, in some cases the line gets blurred between what is a bug and what is intended.
We shouldn't have to go around guessing at what was intended or not intended.

I couldn't agree more with that last line. Unfortunetly, we are left guessing at every turn. In agreement with some of my fellow commandos, I'm waiting until this BS combat change is finished. Then, if commando isn't working right, if the things we've been complaining about for months haven't been fixed, I'm quitting the game.
It seriously sucks that we have to sit here and wait for these developers to ruin profession after profession or just NOT FIX broken skills and professions. We are totally at thier egomaniacal mercy. We can do nothing, because they choose to institute changes they as a minority in this situation see fit. Its not a control issue for me, its about having fun. And I'm not having any fun in this game anymore.
Waiting for them to nerf commando, the only profession I like to play, into oblivion. Gimping what should be (but isn't) in TH's immortal words, "one of the most powerful combat classes in the game." I STILL WANNA KNOW **edit** THIS GUY SEES THAT LEADS HIM TO THINK THIS WAY?!!
Was he watching a tamer with the flame tree? Seriously....
It's because of guys like TH that I won't come back to this game if things aren't what he has promised us they will be. With all that talk of, "don't think of things as they are now, think of them as they will be." Ummm, sorry BRO, but I don't pay you guys $15 a month to wait for you to fix things. I sure as **edit** don't take my car in to get something repaired and tell them, "hey, I'll pay for it now and then come get it a month from now when it will be as it is then."
WHAT KIND OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE?
...*sigh* I'm done.
I agree that this nerf is going to be the death of commandos. I started playing about 4 months ago and worked very hard to get to commando. I came into thisgame wanting to be a Commando.I am now ony 1k away from finally getting novice and was looking forward to joining the elite ranks. But now i am seriously considering not even bothering to get novice. All the hard work i have put in is looking more and more like a waste of time.
SOE is seriously not thinking things through. All they ever do is listen to the people who cry because they are 3/4/3/3 in marksman or some other profession and a Master Commando dropped them in PvP with no trouble. BOO F***king HOO. Dont challenge a Person who is obviously more powerful then you and then cry exploit or cheater when you lose. This is utterly stupid. Because of things like this, this game will never reach it's full potential.
Sure balance is a good thing but like the word means it is BALANCE. Not oh this class is to strong, lets now screw them over and make them weak. It means fix it so that EVERYONES game experience is a enjoyable one not just appease the whiners and criers.
Explosions are my music and napalm my cologne...Commando 'till I die.
Which as it stands will probably be soon and often!
Think of me as Dan in Street Fighter, right now, I flash white to telegraph my Shoryuken, so if I PVP you, you really suck!
I love the class though it does need a lot of fixing as do many things in SWG.

Never dropping commando. I will, however, be dropping this whole game when WoW goes live (possibly sooner if I get into the beta).
ditto
"How can a complete combat rebalance be accurate when so many skills are still broken?"
I have a hunch that they're re-building alot of stuff from the ground up and just balancing it as they go.
