Sweet...and I have tested a Lightning Cannon on my server...pretty **edit**ty damage and everything else...but I'm sure everyone already knows that.

Any last minute updates from the TC before we "maybe" see the patch hit live?

Nope, no real new updates. I already have enough HW xp for my first skill box plus a lot more, but since I don't know what weapon I am going to have access to next I am waiting until I get word from our Weaponsmith that he has access to some resources. One note is that I feel like I amleveling up much faster in Commando with my Launcher Pistol than I did with Pistoleer and my FWG5. I am not sure if this is really the case, but it feels that way.

As I said in the beginning, I might not be able to answer all the questions this test cycle, but hopefully I will be more help in the future.

Extremly odd that they should say that we may see the patch early this week, yet they haven't allowed a resource change on the TC to make the weapons in question for our profession... just real real odd... may turn out that the live servers will be the true TC for the Commando. Unless of course I'm sure they have done some internal testing with it.. just wish they would use the TC for what its there for.. and at LEAST offer up a gun or two to somebody if not just make a spot for the resource needed. The server is supposed to have special rules to "test".. wish they would use that to all of our advantage right now in order to show us just what to expect.

Well, taking off my Commado TC hat for a few moments and putting on my General TC Hat...the fact that resources are not chaning on TC is clearly a bug. It's a bug that hurts at least some of the live servers as well. The Devs have told us that they are working on the resource shift bug and do not want to manually shift the resources. They want to fix bug and get rid of the whole problem. As a general player on TC I can see where that bug would be a higher priority since it hurts many more than just Commandos.

In addition to that, they want to limit the addition of any artifically created item as much as possible. It just creates situations that caused EQ TC to have to wipe character equipment a while back. It's just "bad" for the server.

So, while I would love for a flamethrower or acid rifle to be gifted to me by the gods (and have requested it), I understand their desire to keep the server as "pure" as possible.

The thing that gets me is I have seen them say they "could" manually force a resource change.. since the TC really does have its own set of "rules".. and its primary reason for being is to test the updates/changes, etc before they hit live servers.. I would think that they would take into consideration that manually forcing a resource change could vastly effect their process to actually TEST what they are about to throw into the live servers.

This may break the convention of wanting it to work as a whole and kill the bug behind it... but I really don't think it would slow that process down a bit. Instead, forcing the shift on the test server (where it shouldn't be considered a drastic ordeal since this is where the testing is done), it would allow a lot of the craftable items in question for many professions be at least marginally tested by a larger audience than "in house". In other words... it seems like this would be entirely in line with what I would feel a Test Center type server should be. Currently... only a portion of things are actually being tested there... and a bug that can be worked around manually to at least allow the rest to be tested (without forcing artificially created items).

I just don't like the fact that the TC doesn't seem to be completly utilized here because of this bug. I agree.. they should try and work this thing out for all servers and focus on that.. but I would rather they at least remember the TC does have its own reason for being and its own rules and that manually shifting would play in line with exactly the way the game is supposed to play and still possibly (if the shift was good) allow a lot of further and more accurate testing to be done before everybody playing on the live servers get another test of Beta Phase 4

just a thought on resources on tc. it may have been addressed before but, why not give tc all resources so all items can be made to this point. that way they can be tested etc. waiting around to get resources just to test stuff kinda defeats the purpose of a test server. or maybe i'm way off.

either way congrats on novice commando. so far i know of only one MASTER commando and he's on starsider and goes by the name of kirth. he was grinding for weeks to get there... and he got there the hard way.

One other thing about damage seem in combat spam and damage number of the mobs head.. Its natural defenses for a particular type of damage. The 10% difference you saw, is prolly related to the 10% protection it has against the launcher pistols damage type, which I'm guessing is Blast.

And as far as not wanting to put artificialy created items on TC well lets just say that the decay rate on the flamethrower is ferocius at best i doubt they would have to worry about an equipment wipe with heavy use you have a month before its scrap best case and a couple of lucky repairs that is.

Again, with my General TC Hat on, and not the Commando one...

If they are testing automatic resource shifting it would take a week to run the test, assuming it worked. Based on discussions that devs have had with other TC members it is a very difficult thing for them to track down and they are trying. If they manually shifted the resources it would mean another week for a "natural" shift to occur since we never get anywhere close to using up a resource. The can't reproduce it on their "in house" qa systems is what I am hearing.

Now, putting my Commando Hat back on....

Give meh my Flamethrower now! NOW! NOW!

The sad thing is, once this Test Center patch goes live, there will be another uproar from the commandos, becuase every single one of our weapons will say in examine "Armor Piercing: None"

I have known about this problem since last month, and I have been trying to make it public, but no one seems to listen.

"waiting around to get resources just to test stuff kinda defeats the purpose of a test server. or maybe i'm way off."

I think of the TC as a means to test live play in a testing environment.. they don't want to make artificial weapons.. or allow all resources available, etc. because the environment is supposed to simulate that of the live servers. This is why I don't understand why they can't initiate a manual shift of resources to force the things required for testing all of the content they are about to push live. I mean yes.. it may take a week for the next shift to occur assuming their bugs have been squashed.. but at least the content going live won't be laid upon the hands of all the tens of thousands of live server players.. like I said I don't want anymore of a Beta Phase 4 than we already have.. I would be on the TC right now if I thought I could withstand 'new' bugs popping up and having to deal with them before they hit a live server. I don't want this to happen to anyone who doesn't want to.. and quite honestly.. this is what I'm afraid of for our Commando's after this patch.. I'm afraid the damage won't be worth a **edit** and all of us still leveling frantically towards Master, taking 5x longer than any other profession to get there, etc, etc... then get get our "saving grace" patch and realize nothing was really fixed worth using still and we are all left here with countless hours devoted and a promised return that was never received.... or yeah something to that effect
