Thread: Commandos? The new Revamped Combat system?
why is it that people think that because we use flamethrowers, we shouldn't be killing people? a flamer thrower is an anti-personal (sp?) weapon, meaning it is used to take out people. if i light you on fire, not only will you burn, but you will not be able to breath (as the fire will burn all the oxygen around you), you will go blind (not really blind, but it'll be pretty hard tosee around those flames), you'll most likely be stunned, and i'd say be knocked down (at least from trying to stop, drop and roll like they teach us in elementray school).
hitting someone with a flamethrower is not that hard. start the stream of fire, move it side to side, pretty much, anything in that cone is on fire. so saying we're slow and inaccurate shouldn't really matter.
also, i don't know if people know how hard it is, but if i'm moving a lot at 64m away, i don't care if you're billy the kid or lee harvey oswald, you probably won't hit me with a pistol or a rifle. pistols are not as accurate as rifles, and shooting them fast tends to skew your accuracy a bit. rifles are more accurate, but they take time to aim, and you pretty much have to be steady, as in not moving, prone, kneeling with a tripod. not running while holding a t-21 backwards with one had and firing headshots at me. carbines, on the other hand, are more like fully automatic assault rifles, which were made to hit moving targets. these, like a flamethrower, should be a bit more accurate when firing.
also, how realistic is it for a grenade to be tossed at someone's feet, have it go off, and they dodge it? or it misses? kinda hard to do that. lastly, if i shoot you with a rocket launcher, and i actually hit you, you should die....in one hit.....and be in pieces.

If the prerequisite to commando was only the Range Support line I would agree with you, but it's not. All other elite combat professions reflect their prerequisite, as such it would make logical sense for commandos to as well. We are general masters of ranged combat, with enough know-how for close range situations to stay alive (if you read our prerequisite requirements.) To be blunt, the commando seems like it should be the 'jack of all trades' combat profession - decent at most skills, but master of none.
Jack of all trades??? No, we are the masters of Heavy Weapons, and special tactics. Our damage output should reflect the fact that we use those heavy weapons and special tactics....and not be worse than a novice marksman. How many times do you get that Flame single 2 off before the TKM kd/dizzys you?
As far as our other weapons go.....what other weapons...the LP is about junk, and the HAR is the biggest joke of a weapon. The premise is nice though.
Keep working Devs the commandos aren't ........yet.
"Jack of all trades??? No, we are the masters of Heavy Weapons.."
It's called being both. If you hadn't noticed already, we've currently got:
- A pistol (pistol mastery represented
- Flamethrower (heavy, close-range weaponry)
- A rifle (it's called one anyways, representing long-range attacks)
- Heavy Support Weapons and Grenades(Long range support weapons - representing the marksman ranged support tree)
So what's missing? Something representing the experience we have in carbines (a repeater would be the heavy weapon equivalent - something many have lobbied for) and unarmed/melee skills. Add those in and we are both a jack of all trades and a master of heavy weapons. I really can't see why everyone thinks the two terms are mutually exclusive when it comes to the commando.
We can be a 'jack of all trades' and through use of heavy weapons. It's not a hard concept t understand, it just requires a little 'out of the box' thinking.
