Two outta three accts cancelled as of last weekend here.

Garvin, and now StarNick do all they can for the game, but SOE is not structured to take advantage of outside input. Even if they provide the draft work for doing so.

I'm sorry for the folks that will sink more and more money into a company that must have better things to do than fix a game we all at one point loved. Bottom line returns are all that matters. A customer base is an investment, but instead of monitoring and tuning that investment to create the return, the company turns to other means to secure the bottom line. Hence we get expansions that take priority over severe imbalance, and broken game aspects. The failure to provide content to begin with turns into paying more than your subscription fee for more content. It's a shame. Or you can just drop the e.

FIrst of all, becuase i think commando's don't need battle armor or throw nades every 1 sec or don't ignore half of the players becuase of their prof.don't make me a bad guy.

and for the boycot with the skills, did we had skills last month? we just had skills 2 weeks ago and all we need is damage incress and we are on the right track.

as for SOE only after money, yes their are, so is microsoft, blizzarid, nintendo and every crop. in the world.

First of i didnt called u a kid that escaped from a psychatric institute because u have a strange opinion about the Commando prof which no one but u have.

But to call Garvin a Mofo and thathe has toF$ck off and what elsein big letters, who tried to improve this game and make Commando finally a working prof for years is... not acceptable. He didnt failed us it was SOE so blame them like u did with Garvin and get banned like everyone will who say the same words to a SOE employee ...and nota poor Correspondent who has a hard life being heard from the devsabout what changes are need.

U should think what u write...

oh no i don't think commando should be like a FPS charaterin a RPG! i know SOE make mistakes but they not evil.

You never failed anyone Garvin; you were the best Correspondent there was and it wasn't you who failed us, it was SOE. Even now, we got some much needed commando fixes...but things are still screwy (specials), thing's still go out that should have been further tested, tweaked, and outright fixed. You're not to blame for anything Garvin, save for being a Commando God

Although, Nick, I think you are equally as good as the voice of Commando.

It's sad to see you leave Garvin, I do understand your reasons, as my finger is hovering over the cancel button too.

I do think that SOE has lost the plot, I really don't understand what they're doing, I knowthat LA & SOEin it for the money, they are companies after all, but you can't keep dealing out an average product when there are superior products on the market.

The word has got out by the way, I'm a member of a community that has nothing to do with gaming and a thread was started about SWG,a guy mentioned that he was going to sign up. Well, the posts that followed told a tale, we with toons on SWG only know too well. It was full of posts about the lack of customer support, the game being in a stage of constant beta and when they try to fix something, another thing goes wrong. It was also mentioned that they create expansions when the base game's not even finished.

The thread grew VERY large (it's a huge community) and the thread starter and many, manyother posters who were considering signing up for SWG now play another well known MMPORG. None, and I repeat, None of the people in the thread signed upfor SWG.

Anyway Mate, thanks for all your effort in trying to make our profession better, take care and above all have fun with what ever you play in the future.

Do what you gotta do Garvin, we are gonna miss you on here but i know that most of us understand. SOE needs to take a good hard look out the office windows and start listening to the community(jedi/bh are not the entire community like they seem to think). and if they dont...hell we are commandos we should storm their office

I agree with you...SOE is not evil...but SOE is victim to an issue that hurts other companies out there...they "think" they have a good communication channel with their customers, but in reality, they don't...Awhile back I sat not 5 feet from some of the actual SWG Programmers in a room full of correspondents listening to them tell us what they had planned for the game and inturn watching them take notes on what we wanted...then over many months many of those suggestions were added to the plans for the Combat Upgrade...but after months of waiting, we ended up with what you'd expect from a patch that is rushed out the door with little or no FOCUSED testing...

Things were rushed not because we all felt it was ready or because of a dire need...it was rushed out because of Episode III hitting theaters and SOE wanting to tie an expansion to the movies release...We the players of this game asked them to hold off and make the needed fix via testing and such (as was promised), but instead the focus was a rush to catch the publicity connected to the movie release...a good business decission when you look at bringing new folks in and creating a buzz by those who aren't already invested into the game...a HORRIBLE decission to make when it comes to those who ALREADY play this game and have waited so long for fixes...

Many of us kept our subscriptions based on promises made regarding what was coming with the combat upgrade...and every month or so, we'd hear about another delay and asked to hold on for a little while longer...we kept the faith and kept waiting...How was our patience rewarded? When the time finally came, the thing we waited for was rushed out the door without the proper focus needed to make sure it was balanced and bug free (as much as possible)...Commandos (as far as I have read) are still recovering from some of the "untested" issues that came about via the CU...

My original post was also about SOE's Customer Service not doing their jobs properly...If they had practiced "save" techiques, I might not have jumped so quickly to cancel my account...even simply saying "Mind if I ask why you want to cancel?" goes a long way...give a leaving customer a chance to vent and 1 out of 3 times it's likely you have information that might actually convince them to stay at least a little longer (could be a simple tech fix or that they don't know about something cool coming)...Anyone who works ina subscription based work environment can tell you that it costs MORE to get new customers then it does to keep a customer (even with a free month service here and there or some other small perk)...But no save attempt was made...

I never said SOE was evil or the devil...but I do feel that SOE has let the customer base down, especailly those that have stuck by them...they put more focus on making the game inviting for new customers then they do keeping their current customers happy...Back when I was big into SWG if you looked at the numbers you could see that SWG had more new customers coming in then any other MMO out there (even WoW when it first came out)...but at the same time, SWG also had a nasty rate of losing longtime customers as compared to other MMOs...I'd bet things haven't changed much...

If my post says anything, it's meant to say that this Commando will come back some day when SOE gives me a reason to come back...I'm not staying on the false hope of promises that something good is "just around the corner" anymore...Instead, when it becomes obvious that SOE has really listened to it's CURRENT customer base and proven that by the changes they make, then I'll be back...in the meantime I'll just lurk for as long as I am able...

Garvin you've summed up the entire philosphy behind Sony there, its actually a recurring nightmare wihen this company is concerned.

The latest love child from SOE is undeniably Everquest 2 and yep itsgoing through the same trauma SWGhas been. They have had a combat upgradepushed outto try and smooth over the latestexpansion pack and Sony have again shown that they dont do any significant internal testing. I seem tobe cursed with picking Sony builtproffessions, Assasins are the best comparisson I can give with whats happening if I use the SWG Commando as a moss covered milestone. Im honestly sad to see someone who isnt afraid to call a spade a spade leave. but maybe yourwords will makethe people realise what the real score is with this mmorpg and the tacky spitshine that Sony's development team like applying to it.

Have funin WoW,because thats what this is all about in the end

I remember starting commando last year in december not for the fs grind but for that flamer. I always wanted to be one but when I was one it was awesome. I used to read the boards and look for some pvp and you really helped the community alot. Thanks Garvin.

Im so saddened everytime i see one of these posts from a great player. Alot of the good, respectable, honorable players are now leaving because the game doesnt even have that magic feel anymore. Yeah, there are things you can do in this game that makes it better than other MMOs out there, but sometimes I know wonder if its worth it anymore. Ive been a commando for a year and a half now (been playing 1 year and 9months so far I believe) and ever since I mastered it with my main toon I could not let it go. Its such a cool profession, and has a great community behind it.

I was sad when I came back and saw you were gone. I had to do a forum search just to figure out when exactly you quit being our corr. Seeing starnick as the corr though was cool, cus I know hes a good guy.

One last thing though, Garv, even though you may not read this, You failed no one. You did what you thought was right, dont place the blame on yourself for things you cannot control (example the devs pushing things out the door to quickly). You were a great corrospondent, and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you play, say, think, or plan. I just wish the magic was back in this game (those that played awhile back pre-cu pre-several jedi everywhere know what im talking about).

Sad to see you disappear, Garvin.

I´m thinking about cancelling a lot lately as well. They buggered our prof up the goongah and it broke my heart, so I went to my other love: Carbines. Damn I miss my flamer. I´m gonna go back, by George!

and while i very rarly post here anymore, this forum is STILL the link i use to log in to the forums.

i too dropped my main char now for awile, (hence "new member" haha) waiting to see what goging to happen to this game, but if Commando is a symptom, it does not bode well. I still have a respec i was saving to use on Commando.
