Its the rifle used by the clone troopers in Episode 2

hhehe She realy let go on those.


Here is my thoughts.


1. The Har needs some major love and shoudl be put together in the FT tree.


2. Grenades need some more power a set type of stat effect and more per stack.


3. A new wep yes but not its own tree we get certification for it and you can add any specials to the heavy wep tree with the FT and the HAR andlet it work off its mods. We dont need a new tree for a wep that probably wont work to great.


4. We need some kind of melee tough ness so that when we hold our wepons we can like block some damage with our wepon or hit them with the butt of it or something.


5. Heavy wepons. We need more bang for our buck. We spend alot for not alot of charges they need to hit harder and shake things up with maybe a state effect.




And last but not least come on they have flame blankets now give us back our old Dots they complianed about not haveing any thing to use against it so you nerfed us. Now they have a tool give us back out dots that way we will become usefull again in pvp and doctors will be needed more. Its a win win situation

I see there have been small improvements to the profession, but at best, the profession is still somewhat laughable. I have been a Smuggler/Pistoleer since launch, and recently decided to try something new. Imagine my surprise when I reallized all to late, that in order for commando to be a viable profession at all, I should have dropped smuggler and kept pistoleer. What gives? Why is it that an elite soldier, toughened by training and battle, with the biggest and meanest weapons in the game, gets his *edit* handed to him on a platter by some rookie with a pistol? This is not right! And don't get me started on melee range.... this is hands down, the STUPIDEST thing I have heard of. Granted, a commando should be able to handle hand to hand combat, but what is with having no special hand to hand combat moves that give us some advantage? I am not saying we should be able to beat up a TKA, but for G-ds sake, We should be able to give em a clop on the head with the butt of our HAR to knock em down so we can escape, otherwise having unarmed is 100% USELESS. I am sceptical as to whether a bugged bounty hunter may even be able to whip us. Commandos are supposed to be the MOST diverse soldiers in the game with skill in EVERYTHING. Unarmed, pistols, rifles, carbines, knives, thrown weapons..... Fact is, when you think of a commando, you think of a specially trained Elite soldier that can use ANY weapon with extreme precision. What is a commando in swg? A wimp that has to get close enough to get beat up in the hopes of scoring 1000 points of hurt on someone else before he has to clone. If this is what commandos were supposed to be, I can guarantee you, no country, no army, no institution would pay to hire them, let alone pay for their training. We are pathetic. We should be able to use a T-21 or some range oriented rifle.... what is a commando without an assault rifle? Why is it that all of the "elite" weapons that actually work, are completely unuseable by us?


Well, enough of my ranting, it has all been said before and has OBVIOUSLY fallen on deaf ears.

This was my 1st profession since launch paired up with carbineer, man was I dissapointed when I actually developed some proficiency in hvy weps. As it stands the only practical reason for mastering this is to challenge AT-STs. I've gotta admit this made mastering worth it. I'd like to seedemolition packs added to the game, similar to the bomb-bots the DEs have. Considering the nature of the profession we should also have shaped charges as well as a hvy repeating rifle. This prof takes up 169 sp still allowing one to master another ranged prof or TKA, but this should be one of the most feared solo professions in the game. Instead the only good thing we have going for us in PvP is the FT. All of the other combat professions pretty much require the use of a tank or a well mixed fighting group, but commandos should be able to handle themselves in nearly every situation. We have been turned into an anti-armor profession.

Here's my main concern:
We need an assault carbine or rifle with ranged specials.


I REALLY want us to have a carbine, due to the fact that rifleman are getting a higher speed cap in the near future. I think we should be firing at speed cap, thus carbine.


I think that our carbine tree could be semilar to the BH's carbine tree, as far as accuracy/speed mods go, but of course with our own special ..uh.. specials.


If this were the case, I'd say give us a medium AP, 2-3.0 ish speed, 150-200 cold damage (tight range) carbine cert'd at novice, and a HEAVY AP 2-3 ish speed, 150-200 BLAST damage carbine either at the top of our carbine tree or at master (to prevent dabblers from takin it from us. Additionally, this blast weapon would put us back in our rightful spots as the turret taker outers.) Both of these would have hella good accuracy mods when crafted, at least +15 at all ranges.


All big PvP'ers dabble in other proffessions to increase their power. Most proffs have standalone accuracy/speed mods and can just dabble in other defenses. ATM, we can only dabble in other defenses, as our weapons are standalone (yet STILL with horrible accuracy.) The implementation of these new carbines would allow us to stack up with carbineer and get some REAL good mods.


I think the flamethrower is fun, but I feel it should be a "if it's got low heat resists, or you need to start a music concert of with a bang" type weapon. I mean... it's A) Not too commando-like, and B) not too Star Wars-like. I think that this new cold carbine (look at republic commando's main weapon) would give us a commando-like feel, as well as a starwars feel.


I also really like the idea of a "commando toughness" being added to our proffession. I think we're one of the only ranged proffs that would deserve such a thing, based on our unarmed prereq, but also, commandos are battle hardened soldiers. If we don't get toughness, I suggest we get an inherant Light Armor Rating at master, (IE, when wearing comp, you have medium armor on).


I think these changes, in addition to the other suggestions of the E-Web, added melee/ranged defenses, etc. would be the saving grace to this proffesion, and making it viable in PvP, while still remaining fun, exciting, and a decent partner in PvE crime. I'm passionate about this profession, and if it goes, I'm afraid that I will to. The hope for potential here, is all that holds me to this game besides my guildies, and lots of them are leaving as is.


Stay strong commando community, we've been through a lot, and waited a while. Surely, we will be rewarded for our patience and cooperation. Being many other proffs, I'd bet money that we've got one of the tightest nit communities as far as proffessions are concerned (partially due to our gimpness I'm sure) but I don't doubt that we'd stay just as close if we got a little love and were restored (more like... put up to, don't think we've EVER been there) to our rightful spots in PvP/PvE/SWG in general.

Have to say I'm in with everyone on this. I just started into commando recently, and while I intend to see it htrough to the end, it doesn't seem all that worthwhile for the hassle of working up to it. It's kinda pathetic to think a TKM has more ranged defense than we do, and they have their melee defence to boot. Commando needs to either be revamped to mirror it's RL contemporaries more closely or it needs to be renamed to something else, like anti-armor speciaist or some crap like that.


I'd toss in some ideas, but most people here already have some nice ones. Well here's two more. Give commandos a cert (and skills) to use a combat knife. Not that runty little survival knife, I'm talking smething like the good old fashioned rambo one Hows and whys of it probably would make little sense since we're not exactly subject to ammo, but still


Another one is to give commandos some kind of trap ability. Even if it's just pre placed. Best example I can ovfer here is how a soldier would place a claymore with a trip wire. If you really think about it's applications this can be a veyr helpful and very practical toy in both PvP and PvE



- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.

Err what about fixing the game so that commandos CAN USE GRENADES AND HEAVY WEAPONS (RL,..) INSIDE CAVES...

that would be really nice and would give us more options when fighting in caves
