The higher AoE splash damage is really nice, sure glad at least something was thrown to those weapons
of course i'll have the dp-23 as well.
commando/bh template rules!
However, what somewhat gets me thinking...ok, if heavy weapons are suppousedly heavy...then why the same damage (or lower damage) than to some of the rifles out there with 20+ less SAC? I might see with the AoE...but it does and doesn't make sense at the same time, since our non-AoE weapons work the same way...and of course our specials aren't much of a help right now.
That friday feature doesnt even list all the new weapons in game. Only half of them theres many others that are in it plus other stuff.
Not to sure where the lava cannon or the old republic flame thrower is found gotten though. I seen them on the frogs durning beta but I never seen them drop off any mobs or quests I managed to complete durning beta.
Although, it would be nice...as im 100% in favor of, if some of our weapons are to be looted, we need them as schematics...for us, as well as the weaponsmiths.
Personally, to really know our weapons (since they "define" us)...I feel it's important to intimately know how they're crafted, and the finer points of the work that goes into producing quality versions. As a result, I'm a weaponsmith on Valcyn and a big supporter of the WS community...besides, it'll help us out too which is my foremost concern

The new flamer is a cube loot, and the lava cannon has been reportedly spotted in one of the dungeons. Suppousedly of all the new weapon models, there are schematics too...but that depends on your definition of new models...
Does cube loot mean you stick some stuff in a cube and some other stuff comes out?

If you ever played Diablo 2, then this is SOE's version of the horadric cube.

I'd be more for loot weapons, if you could give them to a weaponsmith, and he could reverse engineer it into a few us scematics...thus I can opt to use the loot gun, or have a weaponsmith use my lootgun to build me a new one, like I want it...The same goes for armor and clothes...Oh wait, new armor aint in the plans, nor clothes..but it would be cool if I could hand in the mabari helmet there and have it reverse engineered into a scout trooper helmet, or that suit reverse engineered into a TIE Pilot suit....But alas, loot it is, or some stoopid cube we have to fill.Fun part, is we'll all end up with the same weapons..the one loot weapon that does the most damage..and we'll all be carbon copies.
I agree with the first part, crafters should be much more involved with this sort of item and rewards in general. RE'ing weapons and armor is something I've long thought was a good idea, starting back when I was a weaponsmith looking at looted pikes I had no way of matching by crafting.
But on the carbon copy item, this is different from the way things are now how? How many commandos are running around with something other than a PFT as their primary weapon? At least this time around, they made sure random loot items won't hang around taking up server space like the previous things they've tried, since there are so many combinations, and so many things people are going to want. If there is one small bright spot in this method, that'd be it IMO.
I use a Proton Rifle 80% of the time.
