Oh well, can't say that I'm very surprised given the postponement to patch 11 and all. In the end though, I think it will be for the better. Think about it though, as it all falls into place the game will finally have:

  • Natural progression through the force until the door to jedi opens up, and the councils

  • A jedi system that is much more logical than before, that will integrate well with the rest of the game once the combat balancing phase is complete.

  • FS accentuations of professions in order to create better skilled players who desire to stick with a single profession.

  • Preliminary fixes that should address the "game-stopping" imbalances and make fighting fun again.

  • A killer, and seemlessly integrated expansion that turns SWG into an MMO like no other, integrating a methodical RPG with a fast-paced space shooter of yore.

  • Following which we'll see a complete overhaul of some game systems, with spiffy integration and revamping of smuggling into a way that makes sense and easily meshes with space (since JTL is out at this point.)

  • A promising galactic civil war on the horizon - one which will be developed by the entire SWG team in order to ensure that it comes out the best possible.

Things might look kinda grim right now if you only look to the present. But if you look beyond, these changes will ultimately, if succesful (which I've a fair amount of confidence they will be to a reasonable degree) transform this game not into a decent, balanced MMO, but into something far grander.

What I find fascinating though is what the plans for post-GCW revamp will be... What's next? Once the galactic civil war and the core gameis firmly in place and in action, who knows what sorts of cool things we can expect. Think about it, with the core game finished there are opportunities to pursue other things that would add so much to the game, like Pod Racing, underwater realms explored like space (except in submarines) new planets and citis... Capital ships and PC spacetations eventually perhaps?

The possibilities are almost endless, which is part of the beauty of this game.

I were realy disapointed when I read THs announcement at first. But looking back, things have been better, inch by inch (although slow) and now I'm realy looking forward to the small patches. Both my current profession BH and my favorite, Commando, could use some love in the patches. We have been waiting for changes and we'll wait some more. Big deal. Buisness as usual.

Again i say!

Give back the certification for the Beam rifle!

The weapon is in the game already! we have specials we can use with it.....and its craftable..has animations...etc so forth blah blah blah blah blah!

I don't understand why this weapon is not in our possession as a useful tool, i heard it was because it was overbalanced etc blah blah blah.

I have a high quality Beam rifle made with great resources by a master smith....and with a slice and power up it doesnt compare to a high end T21..and since we dont have rifleman specials in the commando tree what gives?

This weapon would be our saving grace in ranged conflict in the GCW, in order for me to get close enough to burn someone with my flamethrower i need to be able to get close enough to hit them, at least if i had this it wouldnt be such a big darn deal!

Indeed. The fact that the Beam rifle still isn't given to a profession is so laughable its scary.

I was once told, 'good things are worth waiting for'......and I am waiting (still waiting). Thanks for the update and positive input Garvin.

It's worse than just waiting though. We wait for fixes, we despair, we are told "Wait for the combat rebalance," and (in an act of purest optimism) we start to feel a glimmer of hope. Then thedevs, like Lucy to our Charlie Brown, yank away the football.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!

I'll believe they are sending us fixes when the fixes go live, until then it's all just more words.

My main concern with them adding an expansion when most of the current game is broken, and when they know it is broken, is this question: What if JTL has lots of bugs too? They currently seem to be planning a beta starting in september, and shipping in October. This will mean a 1-2 month beta. That doesn't make for great bug testing. So if JTL isn't up to snuff, and it is delayed for a few months, or they release and it's not well recieved, so they start doing patches for it immediatly after launch, the combat balance could be delayed further.

End of the week, been offline for a couple of days, bit put out by the combat balance reschedule, nothing really to say on this thread except for two things:

1) Meh, I like the game, I like the people. Both have their flaws, I'll be playing until something really p*sses me off.

2) Garvin, you f**king rawk. Without your support and dedication to the commando profession I'd have beena FoTM PvPer or my all time favourite template - the Steven Seagal (Master Chef, TKM). I'm sure others feel the same out there (maybe not the Seagal part, but you never know).
