Thread: What ship are you getting?
OK, let me pose another question to my fellow commandoes. Ignoring continuity restrictions (specificially it has never been mentioned in movies or EU) how would you envision the ideal commando fighter and transport ships as it relates to how we have been designed to date by the devs. This would not be exclusive necessarily to commandoes, but fit us the way Slave I fits BH. The reason for discussing this now is so that after the SE is released, we can have a cogent idea of what we might like to see added, if something similar is not already available.
For a fighter, I envision a craft similar to the A-10 Thunderbolt II. For those who don't know what this plane is, its a subsonic jet aircraft with a powerful main cannon designed for taking out heavy armor (tanks) and is also equipped with missle pods that can be loaded with either anti-tank ordanace or anti-personnel ordanace. Now, for SWG, I think we should have a fighter with similar properties, a powerful gun with a high refire for taking out heavy armor and pods for equipping either racks of proton torpedoes or missles. I think this would be similar to the missle gunboat in TIE Fighter for those that played it.
For a troop transport, I think we should have a fastcraft with VERY heavy armor and shields, but little or no offensive capabilities. I think this craft could serve as the assault ship that commandoes use to quickly get onto an enemy capital ship during the din of battle while they are pre-occupied with supporting fighters and capital ships (assuming we can board these).
Your thoughts?
Most likely SE will progress the time line....A-Wings were in prototype stage during the battle of Yavin...6 months to a year (most likely when SE takes place) we'll be seeing A-Wings in production
Definately B-Wings however, A-wings yes they would fit around the time frame of SE...unless if SE really is just expanding on the few months after Battle of Yavin....which I doubt..as we're already several months at the very least away (according to the story arc)
And as for the people claiming that the B-wing shouldn't be out yet they already have the B-wing flight suit as a reward in the Rebel theme park. Also while you can sort of guesstimate when the B-wing was first produced from the other X-wing games It's never been explicitly stated so it's up to Lucasarts to say for sure one way or the other.

If that's not the romantic warrior ideal, then I don't know what is.
But me, I don't want to die... so I am getting a Hutt Fighter
