Thread: What ship are you getting?

first of all - i anticipate being able to buy mutlitple spaceships, due to the fact that you have to be overt faction to fly the factional spaceships. So i was going on the number 3 since that's how many vehicles you can have.

I was thinking :

YT-2400 if it's in game or some similar freighter if it's not, since it's multiperson i thought it would be useful

Z-95 if it's non faction for a neutral fighter type craft i can fly around but not be shot at by random imps. If Z-95 is factional (which is possible since it's the X-wing predecessor i'll check out the other new neutral fighters and pick a good one

B-wing for factional (i'm rebel) because come on, lets face it, the B-wing IS the commando starfighter. It's exactly what we want our proffession to be - big, kinda slow, but extremely tough (heavy shields and hull integrity) and massive firepower (3 laser cannons, 3 ion cannons, proton torpedo launcher)

I am starting to think the Z-95 Headhunter is a hutt speedy ship like the A-wing is for the rebs and the TIE Interceptor is for the imps. I don't like the idea of class specific ships. What are the 4 new classes for if not for using and building space craft.

I really like that the SE will be in real time. I think real time is the only way to go for space shooters now if you want it to be good.

Whoops got it reversed.... was reading through some of my RPG books, and the A-Wing is after TESB but before RTJ... while the B-Wing is in this current time frame. *It's either just gotten into Prototype or light Manufacturing phase*

Sorry about the repost

I disagree about the B-wing. The B-wing is not a bomber ship it is more of an asssult ship to use on capital ships. It has high shilds and packs a powerful punch. In Rough Squadron it has powerful ion canons but is slow. It does have a speed boost when in closes its wings which to be more streamline I understand this on planet levels but in space levels it doesen't make sense. The real bomber for the rebs is the Y-wing which is a workhorse type ship. Its slow but its the most heavly shilded fighter in the rebel fleet. In rough squardron it has proton bombs and it great for bombing ground targets and capitl ships. I think the commando would best fly a B-wing because it is most like us now and the Y-wing is more of a tank.

In a kinda ironic way, I like the X-Wing because it's how I envision the perfect commando set-up. It's an extremely well-balanced starfighter with all around good speed, shielding, maneuverability, and firepower.

Plus, it looks cool.

Also, as to the A-Wing, I'm not positive, but I'm almost certain I recall something about General Dodana developing it during the Rebel stay on Yavin, and that it was used in the evacuation of the Rebel fleet from the location, I could be mistaken though.I think the B-Wing came into service shortly before ESB.

My personal guess for the SEtimeline is that it's going to take place just before the Rebel's set up camp on Hoth.

I feel sorry for the poor guy who has to fly one of those things. The B-Wing was its successor for a reason - the only advantage the Y-Wing has over the B-Wing is in speed, in everything else the B-Wing one-ups that ancient craft (which is partly why it's so crappy.)

Fly one of them in the old X-Wing games, you'll know what I mean. The things are death-traps!

I am a rebel so I am thinking X-wing or B-wing. [if its in the SE] In the screenshots I saw an E-wing as well which would be cool to fly. I would like to see what the hutt fighters look like and if this means that the hutts are a faction again? I am also wondering how many faction points faction ships will cost to give me an idea when I should start collecting rebel points. I like the Z-95 Headhunter too however the interview said that there would be sixteen ships and I can only think of nine.

people people. i dont think we will able to keep our commando skills AND be a pilot. i seriously doubt they will add any SP, or make SP just for pilot skills.

i am also assuming they will have a basic pilot profesion, then elite trees like fighter pilot, freighter pilot, bomber pilot etc.

anyway if this is the case only then ill give up my commando skills.

Its x-wing for me for sure. i am from a long time SW game playing clan, we played XvT and then XWA mostly.

so t/f watch out!

Well, if the rebels get the B-Wing as the factional fighter, us Imps should get something like the TIE Defender. From what I've seen there are few imps around, so it would sort balance out, plus the TIE Defender would defintly be a commando type of ship. If they dont have that, I'd go for the TIE advanced.

I highly doubt they will have so much into a pilot proffesion seeing as SE is primarily tiwtch based, where space proffesions only increase your capabilities, not make your capabilities like the way we play now. Its not stats and numbers behind you.

A-Wing...

...my favorite fighter from all the SW flight sims

AnywaysI'm retiring from Architect on valcyn when SE comes out...gonna become a starship engineer!

And then ill make myself a fleet of whatever capital ships they let us own...

...my biggest goal in life is to own a corellian corvette...or at least something other than a starfighter...

I'm an Imperial, and of the given choices I will fly the TIE Interceptor almost exclusively.

There's one thing with the list at the beginning of the thread. IIRC, SWG takes place around the timeframe between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. You won't see B-Wings and A-Wings. Maybe in the future if they progress the time period. Still, you Rebs should be really happy to fly the well-rounded X-Wing.
