Thread: I'm a commando: NERF IT!!!
The ham works fine with a flamethrower. Try using it when you have 1 health or action and it won't let you. The reason most ppl think it's nothing is we shoot so slowly we regen to full again befroe we can fire again.
As for the first poster.....like every other loser that makes this same post.......bah why bother the line up behind you is just too long.
A: Theres a reason we don't get hit for 100+ damage from flamethrower specials, its the large delay afterwards that leaves us very susceptible to attack. Also its so we can wear heavier armor because we are soldiers and should be able to do this, and also because we have almost 0 deffense, and WILL have 0 deffense after this next patch. With 54 str I take 40ish damage from my specials and in full composite armor. This does NOT apply to our rocket launchers and grenades (You should be more afraid of the RLs then the flamethrower, imagine 1000+ damage from 64m away. And they are pretty accurate at ranged distances)
B: DOTS aren't resisted by armors. This is a general combat bug, not commando bug. You just notice it more because our dots hurt more.
You guys need to grow up and get jobs.
Possibly you are both correct on the HAM front, but my flamethrower lists its HAM costs at like 170/40/40. While thereare certainly good arguments in favor of having low HAM costs for Commandos, I'm not sure why the weapon would list stats like that if what it really meant was "30/0/0".
I've therefore always assumed this was a bug.
I totally agree that is my health were too low that it would prevent me from using my special attacks...like I said, my HAM costs are not zero; but a health cost of 22 seems a little bit odd given the 170 I was expecteing when I first picked up my flamethrower.
I'm not necessarilt calling for a nerf...but I think it's wrong to try to keep the benefits of what appears to me to be a bug. It's like using an exploit. If the devs want to tell me that this is working as intended, well, then okay.
I think I need to clear something up in here:
First of all I dont think Commandos need to be nerfed !!!
They are heavy soldiers equipped with heavy waeponry to make heavy damage...thats the fact and it was intended to be so from day one!
Have you ever seen a flamethrower being shot ?? They really do have a range like 50-60m and you know what?? The flames spread so widely that you may cover fambaa completely, so you hit far more than in close combat (in fact it's not possible to not hit a target with a flamer ever)...but this issue isnt the thing we're talking about cause assuming that rifles fire at long distances lets assume that the 64m max range ingamewould be considered 500m in RL range. So the Flamer should really fire only at a range of 20m (ingame) but that would make the Commandos a Melee Class (nearly) and here comes the point: Commandos have nearly no defence in their skill-trees and after the patch theres none. So they are considered ranged combatants and hit also at 64m...
Ok now to the real deal:
The fact that armor resistances do not affect DOT is a known issue and affects all combat classes. The DEVs will fix it some day, I'm sure.
Also I dont know why many complain about the damage a Commando does: noone should be able to still be alive being hit by a rocket ! Thats simply ridiculous...Tho it'd be funny to see people survive the hit but being blast 300m away by the concussion wave instead and then dying from the impact ![]()
All your complaints should stop right when the armor resistance bugs were fixed. Cause then many weapons will do much lesser damage (especially Commando ones : Flamethrower and Acid Rifle) due to AP 0. Till this day I'd like to see you stop complaining because the Commando isn't the uber-killer you accuse him to be. He has also weak spots like every other class and I saw many Commandos gettin shot from "weaker" classes.
I will repeat it over and over...it is all about tactics and the skills of the player !
Given that someone mentioned CS above: I played it for like 2.5 years and there were many scenes where I took out AWP-Campers with an M3 shotgun or a Glock handgun.
Just try to organize your group and you will likely win a fight of 3 organized players against 4 disorientated Commandos.
And please keep in mind that it's not the fault of the Commandos but of the bugs and faults still inside this game. It's a great one tho...
This is not a commando thing.. its a dot thing.. all dots ignore armor.. wait untill you get a CM mind poison dot on you ![]()
Okay pyclone try to read this slowly.
DOT'S are bugged. Its GENERAL COMBAT issue.
Do you understand? As far as the flamethrower we know its bugged acting as a melee wepon. Devs have already said they are working on fixing it.
As far as what weapons commandos should be using what would you reccemend? Grenades with HAM costs over 100 for every throw which dont work well?
Acid Rifle thats broken? Disposable weapons that cost us a fortune per shot? Or maybe the launcher pistol which doesent use any of our skill mods?
The only weapon weh ave working is the flamethrower so thats all we use.
Ya guy flamethrowers have a range of 50-64 m, it was probley one of the coolest things i've seen when i saw one use, history channel lol, but rifels have a range of two miles then and pistols 150m, therefore its all realitvie and flame should be 16m max for all attacks even regular and should get kited like melee if all a commando uses is flame thrower.
In effect the launcher pistol and heavy weapons/grenades should be a requirement to be effective ass a commando. ATM its not its a flamethrower party and its just dumb, we have the flame thrower sniper the flamethrower melee and the flamethrower carbine roles. The only time its not effective, read accurate, is whne running between 53 and 43 m, other than that i can move and only miss rarley.
Now if you read the post i admit i'm not asking for a nerf, just put it in the title to get attention, i have said this several times now, but these need to be fixed and they will be seen by some as nerfs.
I understand that the dots are all not considering armor, but the fire dot is differnt, i acually think bleeds, atm are fine not considering armor, a bleed seems like a presision attack and could be justified not taking into effect armor, especially because all medics with first aid one can fix a bleed for you, not fire, btw i base out of tat so don't tell me to find water please, once your on fire your dead you have two choices to die quicka nd avoid wounds or use stims and survive with half your you health bar both are not good for the game.
pyclone wrote:Ya seriously come on if it lasted ten minutes you'd be inc'ed three times and clone. What really happend is you droped once, maybe twice in five minutes and came up with huge wounds.
Please let me cry and play sad tunes on my tiny violin for you.
Now impresion. Wa... wa ... wa a commando burned me and i was too dumb to go for a swim (unless this happened on tatoine) wa wa
Wa.... wa... wa please let ME cry and play sad tunes on MY tiny violin for you..
Maybe it's just me, but something about wearing metal armor, and then getting hit with a giant gout of flame should make it that you'd be more of a target.
I know some people will take issue with what a flame thrower is in real life, but they are not just a spout of flame. Most flamethrowers have some sort of gel or combustable that sticks to whatever it hits. That means if you're wearing armor, it will heat that armor. That's why it should offer no protection, unless specifically designed for protection against it.
I'll admit, I'm just starting into Commando, so this is all new to me (but in my defense, I'd been working to this from the start, I just got distracted).
I for one never bought into the overpowered line for Commandos or Bounty Hunters. They are Powerful, to say the least, but they are not overpowered. They are supposed to be dangerous, they are supposed to make things explode in very extravigant ways. That's just me though.
Im just trying to imagine the kinda dumbass commando that would stand still while in 15m range of another commando, at 15m a moving target is pretty hard to hit even for a comma with flame spec 4.
Pure idiocy, if you are going to PvP be prepared, and dont expect others to be so completely ignorant of tactics as you. I mean wth did you do, go on one knee, flamsingle2, miss and sit there ?
