That's nice, but I have a better idea. If you want Terrain Negotiation, there's this line of scout called Exploration. It's pretty useful, I'd suggest getting it.

No matter how you define the word commando, they are weapons specialists in SWG. If they were intended to have terrain negotiation, their prereqs would include exploration. They don't. Now what I'd rather see is unarmed contributions in one of the commando trees, because that IS a prereq. If you want terrain negotiation, it's not rocket science. Take exploration like everybody else.

Tick's right. Every other class has to get exploration from the scout tree. We are weapons specialists, if our proffession had everything a soldier could ever need why the hell would anyone be anything else? Stop whineing and get exploration or get a mount. If they added terrain negotiation then ooo oh my! +20 in commando and BAM easy ranger speed, haveing terrain negotiation in the commando tree stops no one from getting the exploration line aswell. I like useing commando and nothing else but support lines from other basic proffessions. I am a soldier with basic first aid and healing ability, basic training in wilderness survival, and basic hunting skills. I need nothing else.

We are not suppose to be masters of everything. Just masters of combat. Field Tactics should have bonus to cover, aswell as unarmed maneuvers. However I really don't see any use for unarmed maneuvers, it would be pretty hard to convince me to stop and drop my flamethrower to go old school on someone.

So your reason for wanting terrain negotiation is because CM's get it and you want it too? Yeah, that's nice and... petty. IMO CM's shouldn't get Terrain negotiation either.

Unarmed skills in Commando tree would be pointless, as people who are whining about commandos wanting TN in the tree, we are heavy WEAPONS specialists. We aren't TK artists =p. As it is our primary weapons have to be used close in to be useful, last thing I want is more people kiting me while I use my unarmed since they changed a useless tree to being more useless..

If you want stuff to change in the Commando trees atleast add good ideas that are useful to the heavy weapons training, unarmed is for the people that have went TKA/Commando. Not everybody does that and people who didnt shouldn't be punished for not doing that. If you want a new attack type put in have a long ramged reusable weapon inplace of acid rifle or make the acid rifle THAT weapon.

And of course your arguement will be "special forces use alot of unarmed", yeah they also have sub machine guns too. I don't want to see one of commando's trees becoming the equivilant of the Pistoleer/BH mix for TKA/Commando Unarmed. Thats caused enough problems already.

Abit of TN in the Commando tree is not uncalled for at all, you carry weapons like that around up and down hills you should be better at doing iteven if its just by 5 or 10 for hte whole profession.

Also the arguement was that no class shoudl get any TN since they dont have to have exploration as a pre req is invalid BECAUSE Combat Medics get it, not that because combat medics have TN bonus that commandos MUST have too because we are jealous. Think it through abit more.

Unarmed is a prereq, thus implying that Commando has unarmed aspects. I do not see this as far fetched, and while I'm not sure I would take advantage of unarmed maneuvers, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be there.

Would be a complete waste for unarmed to be there, new weapon would be 100x better than unarmed. Just because a skill is apre-req doesn't mean it has to be continued in the EliteProfession, take BH for example, I sure don't see the uber tent skills. =p

And before you say "Look at Ranger" ranger is a continuation of the scout tree list asPistoleer, Carbineer, Rifleman is on the marksman tree, and tera kasi artist on theUnarmed tree. Same with the Dirty fighting line in Smuggler there are NO unarmed specials or anything, its to teach the fundimentals and allow that person if they want to branch that way since it would be easiest, the moment they start putting bonuses to Unarmed in commando is the day the Commando/TKA clone army arises. Which is not what SOE wants, they want diversity, there is none when they make it more viable to choose this over something else.

You know what I'll meet you halfway, IF people are intent on having unarmed like skills. Pull for stuff that uses the weapons your holding ie, HAR or FT to hit with the butt of the weapon to the head to stun or blind rather than pure unarmed skills, that atleast would have bearing for the commando. Don't know if the game mechanics support it though

People really need to stop whineing. CMs get terrain nego. We don't, DEAL WITH IT.

Gawd.

You people make me sick. "Lets steal everyone elses stuff so we can be Ub3R". We learn unarmed combat to learn all forms of combat in general, from ranged, to autofire, to close range, to brawling. Were pure combat, not hunters, not scouts, SOLDIERS. Stop pissin and moaning and start THINKING. Your basically asking to get something for nothing and that I completely disagree with. Its not rocket science.

nightwolf, calm down. Your ranting and raving does nothing other than piss people off. The only person on this thread pissing and moaning is you.

We suggested TN because it would actually make the field tactics line valuable and would fall in line with what Commando's really are, the game doesnt go very well off RL but heavy weapons experts in RL do go through EXTENSIVE field training to be able to move up hills and negotiate terrain easier.

And again nightwolf if your going to post and bash some of us atleast post something constructive with your post, just whining and saying you don't like what we suggest because you just don't like it, is called being a troll. I atleast have posted suggestions on if we got some kind of melee specials that it should involve the heavy weapons we are wielding like hitting with the butt of the weapon to stun/blind whatever and honestly I don't think we need melee or unarmed anything in our tree's at all but I can see reason =p

Bad idea to change the prereqs toexploration.

Basically, exploration isa handicap for all professions other than BH. Generally, everyone who is serious about combatpicks it up. Big problem with making exploration the prereq is that people can easily become BH and Commando (the 2 best combat professions in the game). A person highly skilled in both would be a nightmare to face in combat (KD, massive damage toany pool, eyeshot, fire, status effects with commando damage potential mixed in, etc.)

Giving commandos a small bonus to terrain navigation maynot seem likea terrible idea. It does make commandos a bit less specialized and increases their power, by effectively freeing up 24 skill points (novice scout [15], exploration 1,2,3 [2,3,4 skill points respectively]). However, 25 skill points is enough to give a sizable increase to a characters power. You can pick up another novice profession and a few boxes or another skill tree and a half. This equates to a good improvement in the characters abilities.

I don't know what a Commando is? **edit** your full of yourself nightwolf, but like you said it's a game, someday I hope you learn to play it. Just a little tidbit you might want to know, movement is involved in combat, don't know what games you have played before this but people usually don't just stop moving to fight.

You have given NO arguements why TN should not be in field tactics at all, except it may hurt your feelings or all that time you spent getting scouting exp for your exploration tree. Like I said before be constructive or don't post at all, saying "i dont like it, so no!" is trolling.

I don't think anybody was serious about changing the prereq to exploration, which I think would be a bad idea in itself as it is BH's already have access to 10 other professions that go off of the pre req's for BH itself. Not to mention changing pre req's this far into the game has the potential to be an extremly bad move.

I agree. However, this may be solved when vehicles and mounts come out perhaps.

I ain't the one crying that I gotta "waste skill points" in exploration. If it was wasted skill points then why you "wasteing" them? I find exploration quite usefull and therefor I take up that tree. You don't even KNOW what the commando proffession is. Frankly I don't think the devs do either. I see it as pure combat based. Field Tactics will get its fixes but they won't be adding TN to the class. So stop whineing "but the big bad hill is so big and bad! I might chip a nail!" I'd rather see cover bonuses or unarmed maneuvers or something that actually has something to do with COMBAT, not movement.

As I said before you guys just want more for less. Its this kind of thinking that overpowers a class and then gets that class nerfed in the long run. Just be happy with what we got and either take up terrain negotiation or shut up This is a game, enjoy what you get, if you aren't happy then be a ranger.
