Thread: I don't get it...
Ajaxiom wrote:Okay, I think I can clear up your confusion. The complaint that jedi have ruined PvP refers to the idea that having a profession that is better than all others (and a complete template / knight is - there's no getting around it) is unbalancing. What people are responding to when you say that you don't want to PvP is the idea that you don't want bounty hunters to hunt jedi and have first strike. You have referred to this as "forced PvP" (which it isn't because you agree to this possibility when you choose to go jedi). These are two separate arguments that you are fusing together.
I see what you're saying, but even when I clear it up to say that I role play my Jedi as a peaceful light side... meaning if a BH comes for me, I will fight to defend myself, but I have NO interest in running around theed overt with my glow stick saber slashing every overt I see... (if I want that type of game, I'll go back to playing counterstrike...) even after that, I still get told that I don't deserve to be a Jedi.
I understand the bounty system, and as long as my viz is low, I am still choosing not to be that form of PvP, either... and if this is how I choose to play my Jedi, then I have that right do I not?
well i don't by them both. People think that Jedi are so imbalanced, ha, the are fools. There are templates out there that will cause a Jedi to ruo or die. I have well learned that people do not want to learn how to fight they just want themsevles to win without any efforts.

Well, that makes sense, but I don't think you've been this clear in the BH forums. And I could be wrong, but I'd swear that you have argued vociferously against the bounty system.

Any knight that can't take out any other normal profession one on one doesn't know how to play. Even two on one is iffy. If you believe that a jedi should be able to take out whole crowds of normal profs, well then, we're back to the whole unbalanced thing.

just to be clear, this is a quote from the thread I believe you're refering to, and it is basically just an expanded version of what I said above...
"Just as I've stated so many times before, I don't like PvP, never have, never will...I will PvP if I have to to defend myself, and defense only, but I will not be going out looking for a fight... To me, that is the exact opposite of what Jedi is about. As for what I will be doing? There are much bigger beasts than quenkers to take down when ya finish your template... Krayts, Kimos... and I can still enjoy my game without the PvP."

if thats the case then what about group ganking?
everyone says jedi should not be able to take out crowds of people yet, they do not get attacked by one or 2 or even 3...try 4 to 10 def stacked/cm players.
oh but wait if a jedi runs from such a crowd hes a coward and doesn't deserve to have a jedi
so ur saying that its okay for this to occur and jedi are just SOL unless they run in the same packs of non-jedi stackers
i think that is just feeding the problem
remove group TEF
then lets see how things are balanced out
last time i checked never read, saw or heard of Bh needing large groups to hunt there prey
the system is whack on both sides, so until it is balanced these little debates a waste of time

That happened to me today...not an attack, but a fellow running up to me and saying "I challange you!"
And I said, quite nicely; "Sorry, I don't wish to duel."
for one, is I do not want the viz of using force, and since I've dropped most of my pre-Jedi template and only have some TK left, I knew I stood no chance using only that. and Two, I did not want to risk the xp loss from a db at the end of a "friendly" duel. I've died quite a few times when someone says "Let's duel for fun, no DB..." and then boom...dead... all cuz he wanted a better PvP rating.
anyway, I was accused of being "afraid" because I choose to protect my viz and experience. To me, that in and of itself could be griefing.

"And as the Jedi vs. BH thing has proven, this type of forced PvP thing will lead to MASS griefing if opened to the entire player base. Sorry, I truly do not see this as a future implementation."
"and Yes, when PvP is initiated on another player against his/her will, it's forced...no other way to look at it. Yes, I chose Jedi, but NOT to be YOUR content. I am playing my Jedi as i should, hidden and off the terms, but as I've stated over and over in the past, not all circumstances concerning viz are within our control, and many vizibility issues happen NOT by showing off, but by random spawns on our immediate area, or the drive by who wants to see a saber up close who gets to ya before ya even knew he was there..."
Ajaxiom wrote:I hope this clears up the confusion about the seeming contradiction. Jedi being overpowered in PvP and the BH-Jedi system are two separate issues.
you can pull out every quote that I made, but I still say the same thing I've been say all along, but somehow keeps getting misconstrued....
If I have to, I'll defend myself (BH-Jedi system), that PvP, I'll do when I have to... but I will not be out looking for a fight Ie. Going overt in Theed or C'net saber-slashing every overt I see (Jedi being overpowered in PvP)...
so again, I ask... does this make me undeserving of Jedi?
