Thread: Our Next Question For TH...Time to start picking...
I say we take away the "Combat Balance" catch all...
Q - "How will Combat Balance address the amount of Skill Points and pre-requisits required to become a Commando as opposed to other combat based professions? "
Q- "Prior to the schedualed Combat Balance, will any immediate Commando issuses be addressed? Such as Non-Functional Skill Tapes or ineffective Grenades."
...or something to that effect.
these are great questions, if we can get these in would be good.
otherwise 1 and 3
"How will Combat Balance address the amount of Skill Points and pre-requisits required to become a Commando as opposed to other combat based professions? "
I like the 2 question...but I'm worried that TH will answer them with the following:
Q - "How will Combat Balance address the amount of Skill Points and pre-requisits required to become a Commando as opposed to other combat based professions? "
Details regarding the Combat Balance are still being discussed and adjusted. Unfortunately we don't feel comfortable releasing any details until they are properly confirmed. I can tell you that the issue of skill point usage and pre-reqs will be addressed in the upcoming Combat Rebalance.
Q- "Prior to the schedualed Combat Balance, will any immediate Commando issuses be addressed? Such as Non-Functional Skill Tapes or ineffective Grenades."
All of our immeadiate changes planned for the Commando profession is rolled up into the Combat Rebalance. Its possible that any prior adjustments could throw off the balance of the changes we are making or delay it further. Until the Combat Rebalance we are not comfortable making any major changes to the Commando profession.
While these may not be the answers we get (went with the worst case response) we'd have to be prepared to get them if we go with these questions. I would be more apt to submit the second question with some variation or combination of other various question content worked into it (mainly details on how they could fix the skill tapes or our suggestions for the Grenades)...
I agree, in the interests of sanity all round, and to avoid wasting our valuable opportunity here, we must ask a question that cannot in any way be answered with the words "combat balance" ![]()
4!
Then 2
..but add: Seeing that Combat Medics can toss small glass vials over 100m with no lack of accuracy (100% hit), Shouldnt Combat medics follow the same ruleset when it comes to thrown weapons? Wich one is right? And why can I blow myself up with a grenade if I am within blastrange, while a detonation droid or CM vial, does not effect the user in any way?

This was my point, although Garvin (of course) put them more eloquently than I...
If there is ANY possibilitythat a questionwill be addressed by the combat balance, or if ithas anything to do with the combat balance, we need to avoid asking it because TH isn't going to reveal anything aobut the combat balance (including telling us what is and isn't getting fixed), and it would waste a question.

My only concern is that the only way (logically)to completely cut off the "it'll be in the combat balance" answer at the pass, is to phrase it as - what'll happen before the combat balance re... in response to which I suspect we'll get "nada"... basically it's new/altered weapons - CB, new/altered abilites - CB, long term role - we'll see after the CB...
...the more I think about it the more I'm starting to think the only question that'd get a straight answer'd be "what's in publish 10 and rymes with wombat talents?"
I am trying to get any and all details I can about the Combat Balance but so far the Devs are being pretty tight lipped...The good news is that when the Combat Test Server goes live around Publish 9 we should get a clear preview of the Balance...so we won't have to wait until Publish 10 to hear anything...
The goal of our questions should be 2 fold...1) To get a hopefully good response & 2) To remind the Devs of an issue that matters to us and offer up possible suggested fixes for them to consider (even if it's been brought up before)...
So no matter what question we use, even if we get a "this will be addressed in the Combat Balance" response, we have at least had TH, the other Devs, and the programmers think about our issue...I know that TH takes our question straight to those folks to get a response before falling back on his /CombatBalanceResponse Macro...
There are some very good ideas that have been brought up in this thread...please keep them coming...over the weekend I'll try to take many of those ideas and incorporate them into the most popular question type and present it here for further discussion (might even start a new thread on the question)...as far as I know we have up until Tuesday afternoon to submit the question (although I prefer to submit it Monday night to give the devs a bit more time to think on our answer)...
LOL. This is why I suggested we ask about possible crafting changes being made to facilitate making consumables cheaper and more available.
