The quest log says in the starport, so I'd start looking there

Once you leave the landing platform, he's just around the bend.

Plus I know that our +50 Heavy Weapon Defense worked with the proton rifle on TC-EpIII. I'm not sure it workes with the Clone Trooper Rifle, as it's not a commando specific weapon.
