The problem is that BH gains cabrine speed and accuracy in their tree. Having a master box weapon for us where we have like +20 speed (like +5 if a commando decides not to get rifle tree in marksman) while using that weapon is kind of stupid.
No, no weapon specific accuracy for BHs post CU, just General Accuracy... and oddly, less accuracy than any other ranged profession (with the exception of smuggler and squad leader) so much for that "4" in offense.

No, there is only general accuracy for BH post CU. But no weapon specific (carbine, pistol, rifle) accuracy, speed or defense. To top that off the general accuracy a BH gets is 55, Commando gets 65 and 55 heavy weapons accuracy, Pistol/Rifle/Carb get 75 general and 0/45/25 respectively (+40 weapon specific accuracy in the marksman lines). But I agree, I don't see how that makes a BH a one on one combat specialist. By the same token I don't see how commando having less accuracy than a rifleman balances out to those two prof's both being 5's in offense.

Withthe Proton Rifle equiped, do I use the Rifle defence/accuracy/speed skills?
I assume yes, but it might be considered a heavy weapon.
Don't know for sure which "specific" mods it will rely on, but it will most definitely use generic ranged speed and accuracy mods (which all ranged combat professions get)...So we will have skill mods available to us for this weapon either way. If I had to guess, there is a good chance that the "rifle" specific mods may effect this weapon type unless it's catagorized as a "Heavy" rifle.
As for defenses, I don't believe any defenses is weapon specific...but I could be wrong...The only exception I know of is TK avoidance, but that is only effected when someone equips armor. Weapons, as far as I know, don't impact defensive capabilities at all (you can hold a carbine, and your Commando defenses are still working).

WOW. Couldn't have said it better myself lol. But due to the proton carbine getting certed for Master Bounty Hunters (yet they get a tier 4 carbine....it was just made useless really), I am simply still going Master Carbine along w/ Master Commando, and wait until the Devs add in the underslung carbine. Sad, ain't it?

1. Well I would assume defense like carbine dfenese and heavy weapon defense will be weapon determinate wouldn't you?
2. On the TKA avoidance, i believe the avoidance and innate armor are two separate things. By looking at the skills it looks like the avoidance is more in reference to the TKA's advanced center of being more so than the armor. I wouldn inticipate the armor working like toughness did in the current system. But I could be wrong.
3. Proton rifle: The rifleman don't lose anything by it working off heavy weapon xp as in order to be cert'd for it they will have to master commando anyway thus having all the mods needed for the gun. All their specials I would assume would still work. This only hurts the commando if it works off rifleman skills as this means very litmited use withing in our own proffession for a master cert'd weapon. The LP and MK are both novice level weapons we are talking master level weapon here.
With that said it would seem logical for it to work off HW mods. Unfortunatelty the pattern established by SOE here means it will probably require rifel. Note CM's and SL's get master level certs for pistols but they have no skill mods within the proffession for pistols. Not even in their prereq as CM has now been changed to ranged rather than pistol. So it wouldn't suprize me a bit if we ended up with it requiring rifle xp.
So if it requires rifle xp we have a pistol and rifle we don't get a crabine but hey wouldn't this invite for Mastermarksman as a possibility now in a template. Don't know just trying to figure out what they are up to.

BH is designed to be combined with Carbineer or Pistoleer or both. MBH general accuracy with carb and pistol general accuracy gives you well over 200 general accuracy. Add (read stack) on the pistol or carb specific accuracy(depending on which is equipped) and your looking at over 250 (depending on which you master, pistols or carbs) in total accuracy. Not too shabby...
