Thread: With a Yes or No how many are keeping Commando

I had my moment of doubt, but I've passed through that and I'm keeping it no matter what.

This is a exerpt of another post I did, that I think pertains to this topic:

Personally I still think there is a lot of work to be done on Commando to make it a viable profession. Give the role a commando fills, it still feels highly underpowered and well, unfinished. I'm not sure if that's down to the lack of specials, and it's purely a psychological thing, or if it is that when compared to other professions, it's just considerably lacking in so many areas. For instance, you'd think that a commando, given the combat range they fight in, and presumably the training they'd go through, would have defences akin to if not better than what the MBH has. Additionally, I would expect more accuracy over a wider range of weapons as you'd be trained to be good with pretty much anything you'd pick up. But sadly, the Storm Commando seems to be the model on which we're built, which in SWG is just total and utter crap, despite the fact that in the Star Wars universe they're the most hardcore troopers going and the mere mention of their name is meant to strike fear. In SWG they're faction farms as they go down too easily. Also, look at the Republic Commando. A team of 4 was meant to be more effective than a platoon of soldiers. Where is that reflected in our template? These are our peers, our history and our legacy, so why don't we benefit from that? Commando has taken up a special place in my heart, and I'm not going to give it up, however, I will do my best to help fight to make it better for us all.

Regards,

Gov

I'm keeping mine for as long as I'm in the game -- which may be July 28th if we don't see some action on Commando and smuggler.

You know, that's what I said around here in the months before the CU. I figured, "Hey, we're already at the bottom. There's nowhere to go but up!" What an utter crock of **** that thought is when I look back on it.

Yeah, every time you think you've hit the bottom and can go no lower, some jackass always throws you a shovel.

In Commandos' case, that jackass didn't throw us the shovel. He hit us on the head with it, pointed a T21 to our head, and said:

"In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig."

I wanted to be a Commando even before the game was released. I loved the original description. Of course we never actually got to BE that description but I still have high hopes. The potential is there. We just need the Devs to give us some loving.

Of course there is one possibility in all this... We might not get our fix until the respec period ends for the large majority of players, or until the newTTE box-set is released in an effort to keep everyone going commando save us die-hards.

Yes, even though I might be playing more on my other character until it's fixed.

Funny story from yesterday...

Our town armor smith yelled out over the town chat that bandits were by his factories again and

requested militia to come to his aid. "Perfect, I thought" I mastered commando again the other day

with my alt and picked up my trusty old flamethrower to teach some squatters not to harass our

citizens.

I jump in my AV-21 and do the worst imitation of a siren you ever heard while racing over to aid our

armor smith in need. Hah! I found the punks squatting in a tent by his factories, and they were

playing all innocent now that someone that could fight back is talking to them.

No manner of shooing and /rude will persuade them to break camp and head for another dune, so I

give them the ultimatum... run or burn! You guessed it, they decided to burn. So I *click* *FWOOOOSH*

the first guy with a grin showing through my composite helmet. Down he goes, my armor smith is cheering

me on... but wait...the punk squattergets up again.

What the? Oh now you are just asking for it! *click* *FWOOOOSH* again. He is on his back, helath bar gone,

should be a pile of charred bones. Good. No....wait... he gets up again, and starts regenerating!!!

*click* *FWOOOSH*

*click* *FWOOOSH*

*click* *FWOOOSH*

*click* *FWOOOSH*

*click* *FWOOOSH*

He gets up again!!!! I am starting to sweat, the armor smith is getting a troubled look and kind of smirking at me

the same time. I try to see if I can stranglethe burning squatterwith my shoulder strap or bonk the last breath

of him with the butt of my PFT, but this is something I neglected to learn in Marksman 101. Doh! The squatter

gets up and I swear he is laughing at me with charred lips.

I dig through my back pack... there has to be something, a CDEF, anything... AHA! I found my ages old rocket

launcher and spread his charred remains over the camp site, then turn to blow up his squatter friend that fell off his

camp chair laughing himself to tears.

Morale of the story, don't leave home without a spare side arm. Not that any of you commandos would ever do that

anyway, right?

I held the thermal detonator in my hand - revelled in the 'bweeeeeeeee' as I flicked the switch - threw it at the unfortunate test subject - and hung my head as my TKM friend, who was waiting expectantly for the fireworks, said.....

"67 points of damage?! My god, commando really is broken isn't it"

But I will not change - commando rocks, and those who now laugh at our grenades and every time we agro the world and still only cause 1 point of damage, will be blinded, knocked down, and set aflame!

Sadly no, my Pistoleer is doing much better. I have +18 in speed and +15 in Accuracytapes (for HVY weapons). If anything I'll grind back to it when it gets fixed. I'm honestly tired of waiting, I'll behelping guildies grind jedi so I might as well just do it legit instead of respeccing.

Good luck guys, I'll still drop in daily in hopes of good news...
