Thread: Flame Thrower Suggestion Thread
The 2.5x damage is a GOOD thing. You think we aren't gods? We are. Its a matter of we shoot they die, in most situations its a no matter what situation. Oh sure we got to get in close but since when does pvp work in slow motion so you can see every little red (hell even blue) dot approaching you? The GCW is still messed up letting commandos get in close completely pain free and useing their specials on an entire squad, which screws people up fast. Yes there are dabbled classes out there which can out damage us easily. They can shoot from a distance and do 1500 damage in pvp in 3 seconds. If people like this are running around why do you think commandos are getting all the attention? because those people spent ALOT more sp to get that damage then we did with flame4. The damage modifer is good because it does keep us further away from mobs, prevents us from soloing with the greatest of ease, and keeps us from exploiting the flamethrower utterly.
The only fix I can see for this is rather then nerf damage or give a cure for the dot, keep it as is (after all it IS douseable with water) and either remove the wounds, or tone them down by half or more and make the dot db its victem. Haveing it effected by armor should also be adding, this means that people will take ALOT less damage from the dot per tic, enough so that people might actually survive it on tat with some healing. Yes they will get lots of wounds but they will be able to deal with that and it prevents people from jumping into battle without thinking first.
You need to understand the true purpose of the dot's wounds. Its not to stop people from jumping into battle. Its so that people hit by the fire have a much much much smaller chance of survival. When the dot tics it lowers your health bars regen max, it takes a docter to heal your wounds and health for you to survive (and theres your cure btw, its tough to do requires a docter and has major resource cost) I've survived a burn tic while unbuffed because of a docters healing and wound treatment. If armor effected the fire dot (no other dots, bleeds and poisons are no where NEAR as deadly as the flamethrowers dot) then people would survive it more. If wounds were toned down then people would survive it even more without the use of a docter, long as they had medic. If the dot dbed its victems then people would no longer be able to grief unfortunate newbies who can't find a doc or water or usefull armor. There you have perfect balance.
