Thread: I Mcommando cannot takeout novice BH!!!
with BH's being overpowered...this is a touchy subject
however, in PvE with a BH on endor...he was dishing out more damage than i could ever do (and on just normal attack) and in relation to each other's tree, we're about same in skill lvl
his LLC, every few seconds was dealing 800-1000 dmg while my flamer at most was doing that damage in 3-4 seconds!, i find it funny that everyone likes to complain about commando's hvy weapons ![]()
I have no problem at all with anyone in PvP. I take on 4-6 at a time and the fight is over quick. Just learn the cap of your weapons and use tactics (that means dont spam) and U should be fine whether its a BH or commando your fighting.
Imperial Sgt
Expert BH/ Rogue/ novice commando/ novice medic
LP+/lowblow+/lastditch=DEATH
I agree that commando are great for fighting in groups. If I were a dev this would be the way I would balance the game.
1 on 1 the BH should be better than the Commando. But in groups the Commando should win. The AOE's of the Commando should be thier bread and butter in PvP. 10 BH vs 10 Comandos The commandos should all cone and gernade the BH's to death. Yes all the Commandos will be hurt and some will die, but some should be left standing.
Mavarus would you mind elaborating on some of the tactics you are refering to either here on in this post? Maybe what we need is for some of our more experienced commandos to share some of the different tactics out there so we all can get more out of the class.
Don't get me wrong the guide we have now is great but it is more of an overview than a tactics guide. We should look at doing an advanced guide for those of use who have more than just novice or more than one line in commando ![]()
nightwolf i would have to say ur compltly rong!! many many times iv gone agenst a llc im a master commando llc is 2x faster then my fl and even if he dont have on armor some times its not a one hit kill if he has on armor its never a one hit kil but i have on composit armor avd that is ok and he shoots 2 times by the time i am rady to shoot agen and his llc go stright threw my armor 100% of the time being that it only has 7% vrs elc and a llc usly dose 700-1300 dam in pvp so no mater wat if i dont get a 1 hit kill im gone
and i do c a bh being abel to take on one commando but not 2 on at the same time and win much less 3 wich it he can do right now
i have 2 othere master comandos with me all the time in pvp but if one novic bhs comes along he can wip all 3 of us out and still be at haf life now if u ask me there is some thin magerly rong here for peets shakes were masters and hes novic but he takes out 3 masters man wat a bad bug
This really shouldn't have turned in to an "USvsTHEM" thing (eyah, especially with me being a "them" but hear me out please)
For those who think their class should hands down own everything - guess what, there are people in EVERY class who say that, and they all toss up one or 2 points (out of hundreds of potential counterpoints) to back them up. The problem is you can't really quantify "best" ...
PvE - if I come across a Krayt, I'll just die really really fast, so I'll let a smuggler with bleed + feign death work it down. If I come across a Rancor (100% lightning resist) I'll just let a commando step up and beat it down. If you come across a 10k HAM NPC with 50+% resists across the board who switches from carbine to rifle to pistol to melee and can knock you down, bleed you, and tag you with mindbender for 1,500+, just move over and let me do my thing - that's why I have carb+pistol+LLC
so there it seems - different sitruations fitted to different people
PvP - sorry, but if you got owned by a BH it's because HE was better than you. Considering half the posts are people saying they have their ass handed to them by BH's, and the other half say the eat BH's for breakfast. The strategies should be obvious and have been pretty well repeated ad infinitum. Chase a scatter wielding BH around in circles with a FT - prepare to die. Come across an eyeshot spammer - pop a muon gold (rarely necessary with a good helmet) and watch the fool almost incap himself from HAM cost trying to put a dent in your mind, then kill him.
Don't mind me, I just came in to give you guys a pat on the back when I noticed this thread about 1 person killed by another person. Don't see why it's becoming anything bigger than that.
Commandos do hella damage albeit with high delay. Their wounds are unmatched, bug or not. Their PVP effectiveness is very reasonable in my opinion. I think Commando has become a very powerful class. PVE vs the really big stuff...no contest.
On the other hand, Bounty Hunters are by design focused toward solo killing of humanoid targets, PVE and so PVP. A solo encounter with a BH in PVP should result in at least very near death as anyone can make a mistake.
Bottom line, Commandos are perhaps not a solo PVP class (yes, I have seen it done effectively). Bring some support. Form a raid or at least a posse. Use strategy, bleed, evade. get heals. Have fun with it.
Take it from someone who plays a class that has great potential for PVP but also really needs support to shine.

I think a lot of people miss the point of pvp. It is not how good you stack up, one vs. one. It is how well your group works together. When you build your groups, build for countering. Dueling is not at all like war. War is chaos and it is the tight GROUP that will emerge victorious. I see posts from Rebs and Imps indicating the advantage for the imps. It is because, as a whole, they are more organized.
I would see a good crew as CH, BH, Commando, CM for the core of the group, with other classes joining in support of the main core members. Your CH is your harrying unit, BH at range, CM to soften em up and keep you alive while the commandos head in and finish off. Now these are general observations with many tactical possibilities.
I come from DAoC, a PVP, broad warfare, group-based game. Group makeup is important and working as a team (know your job, etc) is paramount to success. Here is the difference: In DAoC, grouping is important from day one of your avatar's career, he who does not group, levels very slowly. In SWG, people are used to runnning solo missions, for the most part. I have noticed that this really deteriorates your grouping ability. No one is an island, the team and its mission should be your focus.
When you do form a group, do it with purpose. Set a goal, don't just run here and there. People tend to drift and lose cohesion without a defined purpose of some sort. As far as leadership goes, folks have to be willing to let someone call the shots and concentrate onstaying together and not running off and doing your own thing.
Here is death in its simplest, most common form, in any PVP:
Chasing. Why? You drift apart and lose cohesion. There are many smart and wily players, at least on Chilastra.
Set rally points if you have to run, premake those waypoints (purpose remember, you already know where you are going to be). Stick to the plan. If you get killed, be willing to tough it out for the group, don't drop at the first sign of trouble. Before long, you and your group will be living longer, doing more damage, and having to retreat less. Be willing to have new folks in your group (thanks SOE for large groups, yay!!!!) and train them in what you do best. Be nice, but a group is not a democracy, have a set leader. Listen to him/her. After a while, the leaders you respect (heck, you may even be one) will start to emerge.
Just some observations, in a general manner. Nothing in stone. Just a few suggestions.
Jay learn to play the game. It is very well doable. I got killed by a carbineer yesterday, by a TKA a day before, anda commando a week before that. (I am a BH, almost master too 2444)
btw eyeshot is going to be moved to master soon.
In any case if you cant beat a novice BH you dont diserve to be a commando.
