This is the problem I have with the way that SOE invisions commado. They want Heavy Weapons to be a Situational Close range combat weapon. The problem with this idea to me is then why make us work so hard and spend so many points to get commando when basically your gonna use it in rare instances, why oh god does it require 5 full lines and 40k combat xp on top of that Just to get novice commando. AND then after getting novice commando to basically suck for however many 1000's of XP its gonna take to get to master. Imagine if pistoleers couldnt use any pistol specials or Abilty mods (Pistol speed, Pistol Accuracy, etc etc.). Starting off as a commando thats what we have to deal with. I personally quit playing abouit 2 weeks ago until this patch becuase I was grouped with my friends and while they would get 1000-2500 a kill I at the very utmost that 2 hours I was grouped got 400 and about 50% of the time got less then 100. How is that balanced and fair, I'll tell you what it sure wasnt any fun.(I have 3 boxes in flamethrower to).

What it comes down to for me is this...The resources for weapons are supposed to be rare, The class is the second toughest to achiev Pointwise (Although time wise I would say its actually easier to get master scout because you can do that the same time as your marksmen), They want us to be very situational as a class, BUT where is the payoff that is what I do not see, pretty graphics for my weapons? WOO WOO yay I can impress the newbies killing next to them because if I try anything thats higher then super light blue I will die or take so much damage its not worth it. If the Devs would clear up and post exactly what they envision commando's role in SWG is to be that would make most of us a whole lot more understanding and hopefully make SOE understand more if we are not doing what they say we should be able to be doing.

Just Another Disgruntled Commando

exactly, the 2-foot weapon for tank-killing in WW2 was the satchel charge, not the bazooka

Wow. I guess Commando was the wrong description for the class, but Suicide Bomber was too politically incorrect.

Yes I like Rommie's new name for the Commando the Suicide Bomber:

Need that bunker destroyed? Call the Suicide Bomber he'll run in with his rocket launcher and fire it at his feet! No more bunker!

Imperials invading your neighboorhood? Call the Suicide Bomber he'll run in with his lighting beam cannon and fry those scum! No more Imperials!

Rebels loose in your part of the universe? Call the Suicide Bomber he'll make short work of them rushing into the fray with his Heavy Acid Rifle melting away those rebels! No more Rebels!

Anyone else think the devs have been playing to many FPS's latelyand seeing people Rocket Jump thought, hey that's how they're supposed to work.

The WWII era Rocket Launchers were extremely inaccurate, used at long range they would miss the mark.

In Band of Brothers, the tank they were going up against (it wasn't a Tiger but something else, can't remember the name), has extremely thick armor. The only way they could penetrate was through the bottom of the tank where it was unprotected. That's why they were so close. The first shot they were trying to break through the plating (but of course it didn't).

You just have to ask yourself, is this a WWII game? So those rules are really aren't the point now are they.

The technology difference between that era and this is, well obviously, science fiction. The basic argument here is, in the future will rockets be more accurate at longer ranges? The answer is, I'd hope freakin' so.

CLOSE RANGE artillery weapons? How can somebody make that mistake. I perfere to fire RPG from my shoulder at 0 meters. That way i get to the absorb the explosion and embrace its power!

omg are you kidding me?

DO THE DEVELOPERS NOT LISTEN? whats the point of a correspondant if all you say is "no nope no nope we know better nope nope noooo sorry zzzzip shuush"

But please, go fix all the other classes like in your other responses.

Uber I like how we are talking about WWII era rocket launcher in a Space/Fantasy game which has hyperdrives in it. I dont think the history channel is a good refrence for something that is however many years more advanced then we are today unless they decided to quit upgrading their weapons.

Common SOE, fix commandos for these poor guys.

Wow, I'm amazed at this response - almost speechless. I honestly think you guys are worse off now than you were before. At least before you had hope that the class would get fixed.

As far as your heavy weapons go, all I can say is this: Commandos - the new melee class of SWG!!!

If I was a commando, I'd be furious right now.

Here is what I've learned from MMORPG's:
1) Pet classes rule all - get someone else to do your work for you.
2) Release substandard product and fix it as you go.
3) The only real deterrent to cheating is ethics.
4) Analytical skills are often not required to be a game developer.

Yes Rutro you're right the History Channel might not be a good reference for something that is however many years more advanced then we are today. Despite that though even today we know not to stand at point blank range and fire a rocket launcher into something we stand as far away as we can and fire a rocket launcher into something are you telling me that in all that time getting to that future that doesn't exist someone forgot that one simple little fact? I think even the cavemen knew fire bad, fire burn, fire hurt after the first time one got burnt and he stayed a little further away,I'm suprised that in this future we forgot that apparently so now we stand on top of explosives when they go off.

3) Special Move Recovery - Special attacks take too long to recover from. In some cases 12 - 15 seconds.

These special moves are not designed to be primary default moves. They are meant to add to your default attack.

4) Resources for Weapon Crafting - The resources for the commando weapons are too rare. It’s too difficult to obtain these weapons because no one can make them.

The weapons are designed to use rare resources. These are extremely powerful weapons. The Launcher should be easier with upcoming changes.

POWERFUL?Have you seen the stats on these things? They're CRAP. A generic marksman weapon will have better damage output than a commando weapon using default attack, and will have even more of an advantage when using specials, and even more of an advantage when you factor in the commando weapons having abysmal accuracy because of the 0.0 ideal range. The only one I've seen that's actually worth using is the launcher pistol, and that's only because it has X/Y/0 range modifiers so you can kite at max range.

Oh, and before anyone say another word about rocket rifels and close range in RL , i would be a tard if i used it within 100m.(heck it wont even arm itselfwithin 25m, safety you know, being to close *wink* *wink*)

Imean range = 0, this means ill put the muzzle to their chest and fire my rocket.......right.

Look around, I might be behind you.
